- thotpoizn, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1They most certainly *did* open it in a clean room. Don't be fooled by a photo showing them inspecting the outside of the cannister - the nasa link jasongetsdown posted has much better pictures of the real work being done (with appropriate gear and caution).
- jasongetsdown, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1from the horses mouth, with pictures...

At least post a different link than the one on slashdot. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I think that NASA did a great job on the trajectories. :) not great.. AMAZING.
- karlschmidt, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Andromeda Strain to be released in 3...2...
- TheGalacticFork, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Space cooties, we knew it'd happen some day, but not this soon....
- DrRo183, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0great.
- mexter, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Fantastic stuff. I've had great hopes for this mission ever since I first heard about it. I'm a little surprised that the scientists are shown opening the cannister without headgear on, though. I mean, I don't know about anybody else but I'd be drooling right about then.
- adml_shake, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Better than Space Herpies...
- Tobey, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Now watch everybody get sick from some kind of space flu...
- bolteddown, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Awesome article and achievement!
Super Digg - kiteflyer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I still can't believe they pulled this off.
- Schrade, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0techforce: Maybe so, but that story was a dupe. Down with dupes!
- PlaidPhantom, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Wow. This is just awesome. Can't wait to see the results from this. After I grab my shotgun, of course. Just in case.
- Killaken187, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Does anyone see the problem here? Stardust in a clean room... Uhmmmm... I guess it's no longer clean.
- ploink341, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0There's something moving down here!!
- sonic767, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0LOL, I first-parsed that as "opened in a classroom", I was like WTF?
- Durrok, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Heh when I clicked on this I thought it was about a new coffee from Starbucks...

So... you're worried the stardust is going to get contaminated with.... stardust? Am I following you here? Because I think the stardust is already totally infused with stardust. - Jolene, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I can just see the janitor at NASA.rnrn"I just cleaned this room the other day! Look at all this dust they spread all over the place!...Oh well, better get the vacuum."rnrnEver heard of a million dollar hoover?
- kabz, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Please read the fine article.
In other news many of the particles appeared to be dandruff that feel from the excited scientists whilst opening the StarDust capsule ... - GreenSlabOfClay, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0I can't believe they are infecting those samples.
That is no clean room.
"Hey look!"
"An eyelash!"
"That comet must have human inhabitants."
