I came expecting some sort of joke article with pictures of a river and a bunch of clotheslines... but was pleasantly surprised. - Gigadafud, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7very very cool! i would like to see more people doing this. the amount of things you can do with solar/wind is such an untapped market right now.
- cuoops, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5here's a picture

The water runs through pipes in the roof and it's heated by the sun rather than using a natural gas water heater. We were going to install a system like that for my pool a few years ago, but got rid of the pool instead.

How did you make it out of the third grade? - chicagodigger, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5I drive past this place every day and the solar panels are clearly visible ...is that real enough?
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2can someone please tell me why can't we just put solar panels on the roofs of every single building in america?? and we should have more hten enough power .... and have solar panel eveyrhting, everywhere we can stick it, even a artifical solar panel tree placed everywhere.. how is this not possible and not done?? our roofs are always exposed thats energy wasted if you ask me.. what u guys think?
- jeremy66158, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1oh well
- AkshayGenius, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Nice!
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Solar pannels don't hold up very well in extreme cold, so it wouldn't be cost effective for a lot of northern states. Also, in metropolitan areas, i'm sure there'd be a lot of problems with birds and the likes dirtying up the pannels and/or damaging them. Also, they are somewhat expensive, and people don't want to spend money on things that they are not guaranteed returns on. It's kind of the same w/hybrid cars right now, they're a great idea in theory, but b/c they are more expensive to manufacture right now because of lower demand, you don't start seeing the cost benefits until you've owned the thing for something like 5 years. So, in a perfect world, yes solar pannels on every roof are a great idea, but in practice, it's just not very practical.

- josegutz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Sounds like a nice joint...
- vikingcoder, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Because we all know that photos are the perfect record of reality. They can't be modified in any form or fashion.
- polybender, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0I walk past this laundromat everyday!!! It's so much better now that it's been remodeled after the fire of a few years ago.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0@LouBlobbs:
If what you say is true, then the title is misleading. Solar power does not run the laundry.
The laundry uses solar power to heat water and reduce cost.
For 'Solar Power Runs "World's Largest Laundromat"' the laundromat would have to be powered solely by solar. - Odweaver, on 10/12/2007, -5/+1I'd like to see his power bill, I doubt it can comletely run on solar power.
- j0ew00ds, on 10/12/2007, -11/+5No pictures. If there's no pictures, it's not real.
- Atomic1fire, on 10/12/2007, -7/+1and they say poor people have it bad insert a quater and then watch football (im not rich but i do have a washer/drier that dont run on quaters)
