- RadiantBeing, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Until it is tested by experimentation or observation, String Theory is just a mathematical game. I've read a lot of books on String Theory and mind-blowing though they are, I have the suspicion that people in the future are laughing at us for believing such nonsense, just as we might laugh at the people who believed in phlogiston and the five elements. If I am being really honest, I think it has been as poisonous to physics as postmodernism has been to the humanities.
- andyshep, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1you should read brian greene's books if you're curious for more. like maybe this one (my fav): http://www.amazon.com/-Elegant-Universe-Superstrings-Hidden-Dimensions-Quest-Ultimate-Theory/dp/0375708111/sr=8-2/qid=1157047034/ref=pd_bbs_2/104-0866337-9619900?ie=UTF8
there is even NOVA program on this, but its not the best, IMO-- and i still don't understand string theory - cody50, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"So what is String Theory Anyway?"
something only Stephen Hawking understands.
actually I've read some of his books and he explains it pretty well. "The Universe in a Nutshell" is pretty good. - 3monkeys, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1See http://superstringtheory.com/ for a full tour
