- Shanks08, on 09/29/2008, -0/+4"they consume about 45kg of the active ingredient of the contraceptive pill, which is believed to be responsible for freshwater fish changing sex."
Could this explain why men are becoming more feminine? - rushiku, on 09/30/2008, -0/+4In future news: Mississippi found guilty on drug possession charges, penitentiary officials excited about building yet another prison to hold it. President Palin: "I know it's a river, but we can't have any exceptions to our zero tolerance law, pew, pew, and also!"

I believe you were brainwashed into saying we were brainwashed.
Or maybe you're just high on tap water. - savagemike, on 09/29/2008, -1/+4"Powerful anti-cancer drugs are of particular concern as they can be excreted unaltered from the body into the sewerage system."
HAHHAHAHA They ***** pure cancer medicine. So much for drug testing! - florin, on 09/29/2008, -0/+3If you don't use a water filter, you're the filter.
- theskillwithin, on 09/29/2008, -1/+4How many times is this going to be posted on digg? The government is obviously trying to dull your minds to control you.
of course the brainwashed never know, so just assume you are brainwashed. - Mookie5, on 09/30/2008, -0/+3Sigh.
The majority of pharmeceuticals in water are the ones that pass through a human body unmetabolized, then get through the water treatment plant, and then are discharged back into the waterway, where they get pumped back out into a new water treatment plant for drinking water and delivered with the rest of the water.
This has been the way things have been for over 50 years. We're only now discussing it because they just figured out how to test for these pharmeceuticals in the parts per trillion ranges.
Pharma in the water is a consequence of treating every malaise we have as a society with a pill. If you want to pay for it, water can be treated so that everything is taken out, but the cost is rather astronomical, and you have to deal with the disposal of the rejected brine. - 1longtime, on 09/29/2008, -1/+4Protect those precious bodily fluids!

- Administrators, on 09/29/2008, -0/+2There could be a run on "Spring Water" bottled in the UK in the hopes of getting your monthly medication without the bill :)
- SkippyDoorknob, on 09/29/2008, -2/+4Obviously it's working well, seeing how docile and dormant everyone here is... oh wait...
- conversekid, on 09/29/2008, -2/+4Dissolved coke? Yes please.
- coyska, on 09/29/2008, -1/+3Ummm I don't know about the WW2 thing, but here's an article from one of the world's leading experts on fluoride stating how dangerous it is when ingested. Fluoride is meant only for the teeth, not for the whole body.
http://www.dailyecho.co.uk/news/3692986.Fluoridati ... - leerayIG88, on 09/29/2008, -0/+2i better start drinking coca-cola!
- uncleosbert, on 09/29/2008, -0/+2most treatment plants aren't equipped to deal with all the medications. this is a relatively new problem and part of the reason they test tap water is to see what would need to be removed as part of the treatment.
http://www.medicinenet.com/script/main/art.asp?art ... - gmacnay, on 09/29/2008, -0/+1It's happening in Canada too.
http://www.thestar.com/News/GTA/article/350403 - machine82, on 09/29/2008, -1/+2Great another thing to worry about.
- enantiodromia, on 09/30/2008, -0/+1that's funny, i usually test for water in my drugs!

Citation required. - kcap122, on 09/30/2008, -0/+1parepin is delicious
- inactive, on 09/29/2008, -0/+1If the water contains drugs will they be charging extra?
- bipolarruledout, on 09/30/2008, -0/+1That's why you should send all your drugs to me for um... "safe disposal".
- bklny, on 09/29/2008, -0/+1Reminds me of this old Freakonomics article
THE rivers of Italy are flowing with cocaine, say scientists who have adopted a new approach to measuring the extent of drug misuse. The biggest river, the Po, carries the equivalent of about 4kg (8lb 13oz) of the drug a day, with a street value of about £20,000.
Cocaine users among the five million people who live in the Po River basin in northern Italy consume the drug and excrete its metabolic by-product,

- WiskyDrinker, on 09/29/2008, -0/+1I saw this covered on a TV show quite a while ago. It is a real issue.. You wouldn't believe how much birth control apparently gets recycled back in to our water. Here' an article from 2003 discussing the effects on wildlife: http://www.cnn.com/2003/TECH/science/11/14/coolsc. ...
- NotYourProdigy, on 09/30/2008, -0/+1It is.
- bipolarruledout, on 09/30/2008, -0/+1At least with computers you only have lead, mercury, and other heavy metals to worry about.... it is kind of nice to see CRT's on the way out.....uh. They are big toxic heaps and people just throw them out like it's nothing. RECYCLE YOUR CRT'S PEOPLE!
- bipolarruledout, on 09/30/2008, -0/+1Why don't you list the stuff that's not metabolised by the liver and excreted by the kidneys? It's a whole lot more practical.
- inactive, on 09/30/2008, -0/+1***** yeah! I wish the water here was like that...
- bipolarruledout, on 09/30/2008, -0/+1percodan is delicious.
- bipolarruledout, on 09/30/2008, -0/+1I hear some of antidepressants can get you pretty messed up when mixed with alcohol and they are likely in higher concentrations than anything else.

these are a few of chemicals in common drugs that cause apathy in humans. im sure our masters benefit greatly from having an apathetic population.
i believe its was wilhelm riech who studied human behavior and their willingness to support a war effort. in his studies he found couples who displayed great affection for one another(or "in love") where the least likely to support the war effort.
APATHY is the opposite of LOVE - uncleosbert, on 09/30/2008, -0/+1well, if you're anti-technology, i have some very sad news for you re: birth control.
but if you click on the link, you'll note that the thing is basically a clock radio. it has no cathode ray tube. thank you for your concern... -
