Scientists Hack Heart Device to Prove a Point
dsc.discovery.com — Scientists from three universities recently hacked into an implantable biomedical device through a wireless connection, stole information about a hypothetical patient's health and personal history and changed the cardiac defibrillator's settings.

Why? Why did Universities figure this out? No one shouldve been able to put their hands on that ***** thing, let alone install it in someone, until ***** like that is confirmed IMPOSSIBLE. And the only reason Im not worried about wireless assassination is because killing me would be a waste of ***** time. But more logically (logicallier?) because now that we know, youre going to fix that *****. RIGHT?

When this kind of problem is not reported, the hardware stays broken indefinitely. Fixing security holes costs money, in this case a LOT of money (costs of massive review and approval processes are piled under and on top of the necessary engineering costs). This money will not be spent unless the issue begins to affect sales, and sales will not be affected until doctors and patients know the problem exists. -
