    Actually, he doesn't even seem to have published this research in a peer-reviewed journal. This is why you should always be skeptical of "amazing" research when it is published in mainstream media without any reference to scientific journals.

Our brain is really no different from what's in that dish if you ask me. It's just that ours has a much larger number of neurons and is connected to environment-sensing equipment like the eyes, hands etc...
