- krets, on 10/19/2007, -5/+47I, for one, welcome our disembodied brain overlords.
- leecllw, on 10/19/2007, -4/+28This is just crazy! But awesome!
- inactive, on 10/19/2007, -0/+23This should end well
- BearToy, on 10/21/2007, -8/+29Does this mean that they can grow a brain for George Bush?
- JEAH, on 10/20/2007, -3/+20Looks like we found one of the 24%. Let's get a stick and poke at him.
- JAVandiver, on 10/21/2007, -4/+21Sweet! So when can I become a head in a jar?
- reeder, on 10/21/2007, -4/+21This is 2 years old, but still pretty amazing.
- foopirata, on 10/19/2007, -2/+17I wonder if it has "A.B.Normal" on a sticker outside the container...
- onisamsha, on 10/20/2007, -2/+16Georgie has a handicap though.....when he was getting trained to fly the plane he was coked out of his mind.
To even the playing field we have to grow the brain in a dish full of cocaine. - ic3man, on 10/21/2007, -5/+19I say we pit W against the brain dish in an aerial battle and see who wins.

I remember reading this and thinking it was really interesting, and wanting to see where Biological AI was heading - but have heard little else since then.
Anyone know where I can find out more, or what has been learned since then? - Serphyas, on 10/19/2007, -0/+10This is how that giant brain from Futurama will start out, I think.
- supafuzz, on 10/19/2007, -0/+9Actually it's three.
- Serphyas, on 10/19/2007, -0/+7You'd rather it be on fine china? On a saucer, perhaps?
- Touchy610, on 10/19/2007, -1/+8*poking*
Hmm...it SEEMS to be intelligent life...but...something's missing. - RTourn, on 10/19/2007, -0/+6Makes you wonder what they are doing now.
- t1t0, on 10/21/2007, -0/+5Doesn't seem to be much progress. http://tinyurl.com/2m53wh
Actually, he doesn't even seem to have published this research in a peer-reviewed journal. This is why you should always be skeptical of "amazing" research when it is published in mainstream media without any reference to scientific journals. - inactive, on 10/19/2007, -0/+4I've been searching for more news on this since I saw it back in 2004, and just when I think someone uncovered something..... Welcome to 2004.
- hydroplane, on 10/18/2007, -1/+5Makes me think of the robocop prototypes.
http://poetv.com/video.php?vid=12338 - biff198, on 10/18/2007, -0/+4Okay, when you guys saw the picture on the right, did you also think "Harry Potter and the Brain in a Dish" ?
- bkrishnan, on 10/18/2007, -0/+3Makes one wonder at what point a bunch of neurons become self aware and acquire consciousness. Our brain is really no different from what's in that dish if you ask me. It's just that ours has a much larger number of neurons and is connected to environment-sensing equipment like the eyes, hands etc...
Very interesting indeed!! - zeromancer, on 10/18/2007, -1/+4This is so exciting. Biological computers are the future. they have minimal power consumption and can be grown. AI programming would be much easier to do. And then from there, its just one more step before we all have bioports and we become a giant interconnected organism. I can't. *****. wait.
- qevlhma93, on 10/19/2007, -1/+4um, welcome to 3 years ago.
- SomaSynth, on 10/21/2007, -1/+42004, those were the days. I remember seeing a buggy ride down the street without a horse! An auto mobile they called it.
- Etaoin, on 10/19/2007, -0/+3Wait, they prefer sex with other comments of the same gender?
I'm confused. - x00x, on 10/18/2007, -0/+3Ladies and Gentlemen this is your plane's brain speaking. We're flying at an altitude of 39,000 feet with variable cloudiness up along the east coast. If you look out over to your left your can see......
- positron, on 10/19/2007, -0/+3Frau Blucher
- Idgit, on 10/19/2007, -2/+4Did they name it Dalek?
- 68024, on 10/20/2007, -3/+5Yes. Us liberals will be glad to grow a brain for you and other republicans. Don't worry, we'll take care of you. We're socially inclined like that, being liberals and all.
- MarkOfTheDead, on 10/19/2007, -0/+2Where do you get your weed?
- bkrishnan, on 10/18/2007, -0/+2We would be the borg! Resistance would be futile :D
- azAZ09, on 10/19/2007, -2/+4Ex--ter--min--ate! Exterminate!
- davidg11, on 10/21/2007, -0/+2But will ZOMBIES accept them as food?
- sensoukami, on 10/19/2007, -1/+3A brain in a petri dish eh? ***** hell, elect him (her? It?) as President! Can't do much worse the GWB....
- themastersb, on 10/18/2007, -0/+2This is going to have the same consequences as what brains operating vehicles in Burst Angel did.
- inactive, on 10/19/2007, -0/+2This was all orange groves as far as you could see.
- fuzzmeister, on 10/19/2007, -0/+2Extrapolating IQ from SAT scores is pretty ridiculous, I have to say. The tests aren't even remotely comparable. And, even IQ isn't a very accurate measurement of true intelligence. Also, by the way, everyone check out this guy's logo. A Star of David turned into a swastika. Hmm......
- fuzzmeister, on 10/19/2007, -0/+2Such an amazing movie...
- AgentMull, on 10/19/2007, -0/+2Once Ron Popeil invents the technology necessary.
- hunchback, on 10/19/2007, -0/+2cylon fighter!!
- imants, on 10/19/2007, -2/+4I think you mean: I, for one, welcome our Cylon overlords.
- Tiak, on 10/19/2007, -0/+2Crazy awesome insanely old news (older one of these is almost 3 years old now)...

http://digg.com/design/Rat_Brain_Flies_Jet - chijim70, on 10/19/2007, -0/+2EXTERMINATE! EXTERMINATE!
- coheedcollapse, on 10/18/2007, -0/+2This reminds me of Psychonauts for some weird reason.
- RxDaniel, on 10/19/2007, -0/+1Ok, who wants to do some past nastification with their grandmother just in case these things attack?
- Mockylock, on 10/19/2007, -0/+1In other news: "Unmanned F22 Raptor flies into cheese factory."
- portos12, on 06/30/2008, -0/+1Say what?
http://www.bluedune.net - skunk3gr33n1, on 10/19/2007, -0/+1I bet they could get better accuracy if they reversed the polarity in the bio neural gel pack.
- goodnewsevery1, on 10/19/2007, -0/+1Shut up brain or I will stick you with a Q-Tip
- jramos, on 10/19/2007, -0/+12004 called.
