- Greatn3ss, on 02/16/2008, -8/+54hey, yah, remember when these don't go away?
- MasterPlayer, on 02/16/2008, -2/+46Two atoms walk into each other. One of them says "Oh no, I think I lost an electron!" The other says " You sure?" The first one replies "I'm positive!"
A chlorine atom walks up to the atom and says "Yah, I'm the one that took your electron, what are you going to do about it?" The atom replies "Nothing, I don't want to be reduced to your level!" - DeskFlyer, on 02/16/2008, -2/+38♫ It's a permanent reminder of a temporary feeling ♫
- bobsbones, on 02/16/2008, -3/+25♫ Look at me still talking when there's science ta-too ♫
- elliotys, on 02/16/2008, -1/+19The "neuron" tattoo is hilariously awful.
- BedPost, on 02/16/2008, -0/+16A neutron walks into the bar and orders a drink. As he pulls out his cash, the bartender stops him and says "For you, no charge."
- cledford, on 02/16/2008, -1/+15I wish the guy with Swartzchild radius on his shoulder had sat beside me in Physics :/
- retzed, on 02/16/2008, -0/+14Those guys will have some serious street cred with those tats
- ProfessorSYM, on 02/16/2008, -2/+15You're right, I'm sure that they all had no idea that tattoos are meant to be permanent (although, they can be removed).
- jeremyfohferemy, on 02/16/2008, -2/+13you mean won't go away as in they are on digg every 2 weeks?
- a3r0, on 02/16/2008, -0/+10How do you know?
- JAG731, on 02/16/2008, -4/+14Hmm, noone tattooed "42"?
- MutatedNantuko, on 02/16/2008, -0/+10My statistics teacher has the Pi symbol tattooed on his ass, does that count?
- AricC, on 02/16/2008, -0/+9Wasn't this on digg about six months ago? I could be wrong. I still think they are pretty damn interesting especially that powder lookin dude
- joot2112, on 02/16/2008, -1/+10That capsaicin tattoo is hot. Heh, heh!
- J3EBS, on 02/16/2008, -2/+10Protons have a mass of 1 u, same goes for neutrons, electrons have a mass of 1/2000 u. Counting along the rows/columns, it's not hard to find out the mass of any element. Periodic groups and trends let you estimate electronegativities, atomic radii and the like. While it's no substitute for a real one, someone with a Ph.D. in chemistry could probably use it pretty well.
- LoveYouSomeEric, on 02/16/2008, -0/+7Some of those tattoos are of astonishingly poor quality - like sub-prison quality. Of course I think I said the same thing the LAST time someone submitted this...
- phleef, on 02/16/2008, -0/+7I like how most all of these folks are engineers, biologists, PhD candidates with these somewhat intellectual explanations of their tattoos--and then on page 7 it simply says "LSD: from Garret."
- tightscrummy, on 02/16/2008, -0/+6I have a brontosaurus neck on mine.
- INDOAZZ, on 02/16/2008, -0/+6Fossil Carnivore needs some PRO-ACTIVE-
- ryan83189, on 02/16/2008, -3/+9the periodic table one is useless, no atomic mass, no electro negativity, nothing.
- superdoofus, on 02/16/2008, -1/+7according to the description, she got the necker cube tattoo because she is "a developmental psychologist specializing in infant cognition" and recognized it "as being one of the most psychologically profound optical illusions there is"...
which means she likely knows why your nine-year-old ass liked it so much. - Devaney, on 02/16/2008, -1/+7wow, sweeeet cube....i remember when i used to draw those on my notebooks when i was 9
- Xerces, on 02/16/2008, -3/+8So i guess this is a science tattoo as well then.. http://flickr.com/photos/yonirules/301642288/
- BigManOnCampus, on 02/16/2008, -1/+6There are 8 pages, the pages that follow the first have far more "science" to them.
- rompom7, on 02/16/2008, -0/+5The Mobius Strip one looks awesome.
I'm surprised none of these are done in UV reactive ink... - Owwmykneecap, on 02/16/2008, -0/+5Just because an element has say 12 protons, does not mean it has 12 neutrons.
Hell it might even have 14 sometimes. - thcobbs, on 02/16/2008, -0/+5Yeah, nothing says street cred like hairy dna.
- travbrack, on 02/16/2008, -0/+5http://www.digg.com/search?s=science+tattoo&submit ...
- DigiDave, on 02/16/2008, -3/+8Hey - look at this comment. No, really. Look at this comment, it's really clever and pokes fun at people I don't even know. Seriously, check it out.
- kepsux, on 02/16/2008, -2/+6I have spaceships on my arm. http://www.adventure-today.com/ships/
- Devaney, on 02/16/2008, -0/+4i think i already know why---it was the only optical illusion my 9 year-old ass could draw
- V0lk, on 02/16/2008, -2/+6tattoos make me cool
- boozedrinker, on 02/16/2008, -1/+5One of the best image-based posts I have seen a long time....very cool. Dugg.
- GreyICE, on 02/16/2008, -0/+4Protons and neutrons might have a mass of one, but that doesn't give you the atomic weight at all. It just gives you a really rough estimate.
- Wandel, on 02/16/2008, -0/+3"HIS ass"
- danjwray, on 02/16/2008, -0/+3I have the known universe.
- DigiDave, on 02/16/2008, -1/+4Yea.. I was gonna say: There are LOTS to choose from. Some are super-science-ish. Others, less so. But in general - these are geek tattoos without a doubt.
- BlueSkyfish, on 02/16/2008, -0/+3It's a science cigarette burn.
- Chainheart, on 02/16/2008, -0/+3http://www.flickr.com/photos/carlzimmer/1072736603 ...
Damn the bastards, they made Einstein a Spaniard - JavertHolmes, on 02/16/2008, -1/+4The winner of all tattoos is still "No pain, no ga" with the a being abandoned halfway into it.
Stolen from a comedian whose name I don't know. - mal1964, on 02/16/2008, -2/+5Science Gone Wrong!
- testcase, on 02/16/2008, -0/+3Actually, you know what? I'm not a quitter... so here's what I propose;
If you are sick to death of the way the "Daisy Chain of Power" monopolizes Digg, then every time you see a submission on the front page by Mr. BabyMan, or DigiDave, or MSaleem, or one of the others, bury it. Just bury it straight away. Then maybe Digg will be able to rise above the lowest-common-denominator crap that these guys keep flooding it with.
Kevin tried to fix this, but he caved. Ok, fine. There are many more of us than there are of them. We'll just see how many friends they have then. - Ron999, on 02/16/2008, -0/+3On page 7.
- shakbhaji, on 02/16/2008, -0/+2I thought the same thing as I went thru the gallery.
- hmunkey, on 02/16/2008, -1/+3They'd be cooler if they were real... but sure.
- mexicanmonkey, on 02/16/2008, -0/+2that's science
- exomni, on 02/16/2008, -1/+3The problem with tattoos, is that a single tattoo just looks tacky or ugly. The only way to make tattoos look decent is to get tons of them, in which case you're all in and can never go back.
- katieedwards, on 02/16/2008, -0/+2imagine having to took at lambda calculus on your arm every day :|
- Owwmykneecap, on 02/16/2008, -0/+2surprised to see no quadratic Eqns
