- inactive, on 03/26/2009, -11/+58is there a deserted bankrupt one representing this pathetic overreaching hyper-tacky country in a few years?
- spoonzz, on 03/27/2009, -7/+49They have run out of money, everything has stopped there. really funny to watch
- novakaine, on 03/26/2009, -4/+46That looks...umm...just like...err...the...Earth?
- SawButter, on 03/27/2009, -1/+27Money doesn't buy good taste.
- wthulhu, on 08/29/2009, -0/+24This could look better. I'd want my money back.
- civilizedevil, on 03/27/2009, -2/+22As soon as I have enough money I'm going to create a giant penis off the coast of dubai.
- inactive, on 03/27/2009, -0/+18Tsunami? You are an idiot. What you need is crab people.
- mataranka, on 03/27/2009, -2/+20I wonder if Isreal is on it?
- BigVi, on 03/27/2009, -1/+19Did they design the thing in MSPaint?
- ABadPerson, on 03/27/2009, -2/+19way to put those slaves to work.
- wrathofg0d, on 03/27/2009, -11/+24So many of the workers there are immigrants who have been enslaved by having their visas seized, and working to repay ***** debts imposed on them by firms before they can leave the country with less than what they came in to begin with. ***** Dubai, ***** your relatives, and ***** you.
- YojanV, on 03/27/2009, -0/+13Ah, the dilema of Digg. Do I digg this because the comments are fantastic, or bury it because the concept and building and design are awful?
Also, the architect who designed the Palm Frond doubled the density of housing without the Engineers agreeing, so now they have too much sewage and not enough sewage treatment... so the sea in Dubai is *****. (literally) - jakeshdaddy, on 03/27/2009, -5/+18Dubai doesn't have oil. Economic understanding FAIL!
- aamer, on 03/27/2009, -5/+18I'm not sure watching economies collapse and people losing their jobs is ever "funny". So many of the workers there are immigrants who are left jobless and have to return to absolute poverty with no other options left. Might be funny to you, but it's quite devastating to others. I myself have family that live there (though thankfully they haven't been affected to badly).
- greatfloat, on 03/27/2009, -1/+14as cool as the concept is, that's pretty weak overall.
looks like the world drawn by an idiot 5 year old. - PFCWilliams, on 03/27/2009, -1/+14vermax - You nailed it on the head exactly. Thank you for putting into words, perfectly, what Dubai is.
- JacksonYaya, on 03/27/2009, -0/+12Sounds like a great stimulus project!
- tokernizer, on 03/27/2009, -0/+12FAIL!
- GoKings, on 03/27/2009, -3/+15Damn if you are going to invest that much money in making it look like the world, at least make it look like it. Jesus that looks horrible. I mean I know it isn't completely finished, but I don't see how that will ever look like the world. The Palm Tree is still badass though.
- LR2_, on 03/27/2009, -0/+11Here is a comparison:

- inactive, on 03/27/2009, -1/+10Yo Dawg. I heard you like Earth......
- CRCulver, on 03/27/2009, -0/+9@tehdriver, While Dubai's fellow Emirate Abu Dhabi produces oil, Dubai itself is oil-poor. That is why they have diversied into real estate, shopping, and banking.
- borez, on 03/27/2009, -1/+9Dubai's revenues were supposed to be tourism and real estate... not oil.
FTR: Nobody turned up and property is down 40% - waydee, on 03/27/2009, -0/+8It's a glorified shopping mall, you move from air conditioned building to air conditioned vehicle to air conditioned building again. There isn't much in the way of interesting things to see beyond buying ***** you don't need or lounging around a hotel resort, the novelty of being able to snowboard in the middle of a desert wears off.
Granted, it's no worse than most of the Western world when it comes to its population of soulless consumer drones but at least Europe and the US have some sort of interesting cultural and historical things to see and do. Dubai seems to want to bury those things deep in the sand under the foundations of a mile high skyscraper. - bar10dr, on 03/27/2009, -0/+7Is it just me, it doesn't actually look like the world, that's huge failure since it's the whole concept of the thing.
- borez, on 03/27/2009, -0/+7With MSPaint, a hangover and a broken mouse wheel.
- NorrisOBE, on 03/27/2009, -1/+8Crab Zombie Pirate Ninjas? You are an idiot. What you need is Patrick Bateman

Considering people have left them there and done a runner rather then go to debtors prison.

- mattofasia, on 03/27/2009, -0/+5It all will be underwater after the sea level rises anyways. Delicious Irony. 60 years of fun times I suppose, for those dumb enough to purchase.

Thanks, I did this really late at night and rushed it. The scales should match up better now. - borez, on 03/27/2009, -2/+6Oh it exists alright, I've been there. And it way tackier then you'd ever imagine in your wildest dreams.
Looks like somebody threw up a bucket of "Money can definitely not by class " over the desert. For sure. - earther, on 03/27/2009, -0/+4I wonder how long until all this is under water?
Even a rise of just an inch or two would make the entire area uninhabitable. -
