- sindex, on 07/24/2008, -1/+17Everyone knows this was Tesla's doing.
- dajuggernaut, on 07/24/2008, -3/+995 diggs, front page, zero comments??
I think that National Geographic should be covering this mystery instead.... - Zipko, on 07/24/2008, -0/+5There's also a comment above you already. He was "first!!!".
- Zipko, on 07/24/2008, -0/+4Maybe the tree's formed a cult and committed mass suicide. There was no comet, they just all decided to cut themselves down together.
- wynbennett, on 07/24/2008, -0/+3This is so not news...they have been teaching about this in astronomy classes for years. I hate putting negative comments but really I am no astronomer and I knew about this.
- thegrantman, on 07/24/2008, -1/+4I thought this was already agreed upon...years ago.
- WhiskeyLemur, on 06/30/2009, -2/+4It was a weather balloon. Or swamp gas.
- dajuggernaut, on 07/24/2008, -0/+2he snuck that one in... that sly little bugger...
- protogenxl, on 07/24/2008, -0/+2And that comet caused the second biggest interdimensional cross rip in recorded history a year later.
- inactive, on 07/24/2008, -1/+3And here I thought all along it was the planet Venus. Thanks for clearing THAT mystery up, National Geographic!! Case closed.
/sarcasm - thegrantman, on 07/24/2008, -0/+2The other half of the conspiracy theorists blame the CIA. I believe it was a vegetation suicide cult.
- copypastry, on 07/24/2008, -0/+1Didn't they determine that it was a comet or meteor airburst a long long time ago?
- enantiodromia, on 07/25/2008, -0/+1this just happened to occur the same exact time Tesla was testing a super high energy device for the first time. totally unrelated. not.
- fivo7, on 07/24/2008, -0/+1TUNGUSKA !!!! ....the Caps Lock of disasters
- VitriolAndAngst, on 07/24/2008, -0/+1This was a theory years ago -- yes. But the NEW information is looking at the acid rain around the area. That would suggest meteorite dust -- I suppose.
Another theory was a drifting anti-matter particle -- but no telling what byproduct you would expect to find from that. - abuelos84, on 07/24/2008, -0/+1and years later, vanilla ice was born...
- yujie, on 07/24/2008, -0/+1I thought it was an Asgard ship that exploded
- mnky9800n, on 07/24/2008, -0/+0I didn't realize there was ever a question that it wasn't a meteor.
- sovietninja, on 07/24/2008, -1/+1It's not acid rain, its the Black Oil....
- honeybrass, on 07/25/2008, -0/+0It was agreed upon by those that agreed upon it.
- inactive, on 07/25/2008, -1/+1Enjoy that blue pill while you can.
http://www.arrod.co.uk/essays/matrix.php - DestroyFascism, on 07/24/2008, -1/+1Sucking the swamp gas again?
- Alexrrr, on 07/24/2008, -0/+0Wow, i was hopping much more of those "In soviet russia". So i will digg everyone for accuracy , Soviet Union oficially began in 1922
- WeirdNGilly, on 07/24/2008, -1/+1Why the griping? National Geographic News is NOT saying that the news is that a meteor probably caused the blast. Rather, they are saying that new evidence based on acid rain supports the longstanding meteor theory. "***The theory*** that a comet-based meteorite devastated a vast area of Siberia when it blew apart in Earth's atmosphere (the Tunguska explosion) on June 30, 1908 ***is supported by growing evidence of acid rain*** triggered by the event, scientists announced."
So that's the news: Newly announced acid rain evidence supports the theory that a comet/meteor caused the blast.
Class dismissed. - arjie, on 07/24/2008, -3/+2Except by the Reader's Digest. They had this aliens theory. Along with half of the other conspiracy theorists on the planet.
- josephbloseph, on 07/24/2008, -1/+0I blame the south
- Vbp6us, on 07/24/2008, -1/+0This is not news to most of us.
- mattlohkamp, on 07/24/2008, -6/+3In soviet russia, mystery comets blasts you with acid rain!
... er, damn, I'm not good at making those. - mcvetyty, on 07/24/2008, -9/+2You are an idiot. The real mystery is why do you care?
