- Foenetik, on 07/08/2008, -3/+18it seems all insects have a very alien look once you view them close enough.

- DrywallThief, on 07/09/2008, -0/+3You forgot your /cheese tag.
- da_bradler, on 07/09/2008, -0/+3The Camera doesn't make a large difference when you are manually focusing and exposing.
The MP-E 65mm is a 5x lifesize lens. that means that whatever you point it at will appear 5 times larger then it actually is on the camera sensor. most macro lens are 1x, kinda like if you look a penny and rested it directly on top of the cameras sensor. so at 1x a penny would take up the entire picture. but at 5x a grain of rice or an ant would fill up most of the image.
Plus you can get even more magnification by putting it on a bellows or using extension tubes. PLUS you can get even MORE MORE magnification by using tele-converters. the closer you get the harder it is to get good image quality though.
You'll also notice that all bug shots like this have lots of white light reflections, that's because at this magnification things get really dark so you have to blast a flash right in the bugs face to get it exposed properly.
just google search mP-E 65mm and you'll find lots of super close up macro shots - muleskinner, on 07/08/2008, -3/+6Wow, I'd like to see what lens set up took such a detailed shot. very nice!
- oboredone, on 07/09/2008, -1/+3Related or not, I'd still squash it.

- killtrocity, on 07/09/2008, -0/+2No, no you can't.
- steveo77z, on 07/09/2008, -0/+2that info won't give you the lens used, only the focal length.
However the photo is tagged with mpe-65mm. Its a extreme macro lens that needs to be centimeters away from the subject and has two lights attached on the front of the lense. - recruz, on 07/09/2008, -0/+1i don't know how to use 4chan
- mcclaytonrolls, on 07/11/2008, -0/+1And to think, 65 million years ago, you might wake up to twenty foot versions of that thing eating you and the rest of you village....
