- Dunge, on 09/14/2008, -2/+24They dare calling a 800x600 and 1024x768 images wallpaper?
- Lloydinator, on 09/14/2008, -0/+10The second one is one scary ass tornado.
- chocobomog, on 09/14/2008, -1/+11I grew up in Texas and was pretty comfortable with tornadoes and rarely was worried about them. After the movie "Twister", everyone who didn't grow up in areas with tornadoes always (comically) overreacted at the mere hint of a possible tornado (I assume its the same with non-coast dwellers' overreaction to the movie "Jaws"). It was funny in college to see all the non-locals scared for their lives at the mere mention of a tornado 30 miles away. Its hard to explain to them that the probability of a 100 ft wide tornado traveling 30 miles to hit our current location is next to nil.
That being said, if I every saw the "mother ship" cloud in the second picture heading my way, I would probably ***** myself and cry like a little girl. We all have our limits, and that thing scares the hell out of me. - DeskFlyer, on 09/13/2008, -2/+11I gotta go; we've got cows.
- BeShirtHappy, on 09/13/2008, -1/+10I remember when I was around 6 yrs old seeing a tornado two streets over from our house, and thinking it was "neat" but sensing from my mother that it was anything but neat. Such destruction they can bring. So glad I don't live where tornadoes are common now.
- roxgod666, on 09/14/2008, -1/+6Wow 2nd one was awesome and the 5th one reminds me of this wallpaper

- Scrooged, on 09/14/2008, -0/+3Tennessee here, where we have our fair share of tornadoes....and I agree, the "mother ship" cloud picture is terrifying. Which makes it kind of weird that it is also beautiful and I just set it as my wallpaper.
- DeskFlyer, on 09/14/2008, -0/+3The second one is not a photo of a tornado, but rather the type of storm that produces them on a consistent basis (well developed rotating supercell). Still a scary picture though.
- leuksho, on 09/14/2008, -0/+3For more photos like these, check out Mike Hollingshead's storm photos at www.extremeinstability.com. He's the guy who took those really good storm photos around Nebraska that were stolen over a hundred times and passed around as hurricane Katrina photos.
- Ex3poo, on 09/14/2008, -0/+2I live in that shack,I get surprisingly good internet speeds
- c89a, on 09/14/2008, -0/+2Customer: "So how much will I be getting?"
Insurance Comapany: "Um...Jack *****. Sorry man but that's an act of God and we don't cover God's ***** ups, so...take it up with him."
Customer: "God Damn it." - incorrect, on 09/14/2008, -2/+4Why bother providing wallpaper links if you're only going to do so up to 1024x768?
- Wartz, on 09/14/2008, -0/+2more like over 9000 times
- Me0wmix, on 09/14/2008, -0/+2Great work as usual national geographic.
- scarredup, on 09/14/2008, -0/+2looks like spring in Indiana
- Residents, on 09/14/2008, -0/+1I have never lived in an area where these are even close to being common. Something about those pictures is beautiful but at the same time scary. ( 0 experience so forgive me if that sounds ill informed, it's just my angle )
- wildtangent, on 09/14/2008, -0/+1I see how these images could be rare....
As rare as people taking these... - mannyfreshh, on 09/14/2008, -0/+1oh ma gawd! its slipher the sky dragon!
- fr34k5h0w, on 09/14/2008, -0/+1Another good round of photos that were spread around from Nebraska were from the storm here in Omaha a few months back with 90 MPH winds. I have a few of these as backgrounds because they're so cool.

*Note: not affiliated, just attributing the artist because they're freaking sweet. - DestroyFascism, on 09/14/2008, -0/+1Another Murdoch Publication raking in page ranks and advert dollars using multiple pages when a simple JS. gallery would have done the task.

- nick9000, on 09/14/2008, -1/+1I really need to get my eyes tested. I glanced at the headline and read it as 'Rare and Amazing Images of Tomatoes When They Hit Us Hard'.
Now that I'd like to see. - FizzanoMatrix, on 09/14/2008, -1/+1brings back terrible memories of bill paxton
- deweyhewson, on 09/14/2008, -1/+1Who in the world is still running their monitors at 1024x768?
Edit--
Ah, just saw the post above mine. But, um, it's still a valid question, right? - inactive, on 09/14/2008, -0/+0Hey, what a gallery!!! - Hurricane Ike is causing quite a stir here on the East side of Texas. Not a tornado of course but I'd say that's probably as closest thing from a tornado I'll ever see, unless ofcourse I re-locate to somewhere else--something, I'm sure wont be happening any time soon. Nice find!
