Picture: Why Circular Reasoning Works
komplexify.com — Couldn't have said it better myself.
- 1999 diggs
- digg it
- max420, on 10/10/2007, -87/+2Wow. 70 diggs, and no comment yet. FIRST!
- RandomGuySteve, on 10/10/2007, -0/+9What's there to comment? It's a mildly clever image. And we all know how far you get in life by being mildly clever.
- TheTaoOfBill, on 10/10/2007, -0/+17Don't do that. It's bad enough we got retards saying "will it blend" every chance they get. We don't need to be dealing with idiots going to all the upcoming topics and saying "First" in order to achieve some sense of importance.
- Jonjonr6, on 10/10/2007, -2/+0Looking on the bright side, atleast we seem to be done with the lolcatz crap.
- vornan19, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5Until Caturday!
- arbulus, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1Caturday was lolsome!
- drakenlot, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1So you think... this is the internet, memes do not die, they simply slow down in use.
CATS is still spotted quite a few times
- vornan19, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5Until Caturday!
- thegreathal, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3Yeah, but will it blend?
- max420, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2Haha, I don't even look at the upcoming section very often. I just thought it was funny that there as 70 diggs but nocomments yet.
- Jonjonr6, on 10/10/2007, -2/+0Looking on the bright side, atleast we seem to be done with the lolcatz crap.
- KKKBBS, on 10/10/2007, -2/+39circular reasoning is a kind of art
- tehpwnerofn00bs, on 10/10/2007, -3/+37....because circular reasoning is a kind of art...
- Beelzebub, on 10/10/2007, -10/+1...Et Cetera...
- slogan, on 10/10/2007, -10/+1Shouldn't it be "because a kind of art is circular reasoning?"
- stuffok, on 10/10/2007, -7/+0works in about the same way as eating your own crap.. hehe.. sorry, couldn't resist making you picture that :)
- maiku00, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6well, you can't argue with that.
- tehpwnerofn00bs, on 10/10/2007, -3/+37....because circular reasoning is a kind of art...
- Shatterpulse, on 10/10/2007, -10/+96Much more convincing than Bush's speech
- andrewcsayer, on 10/10/2007, -2/+67Thinking outside the square, are we?
- lynx77, on 10/10/2007, -6/+1box?
- longbow486, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1wooosh
- lynx77, on 10/10/2007, -6/+1box?
- effektz, on 10/10/2007, -4/+4Very nice
- Zipko, on 10/10/2007, -7/+2how so?
- gmprunner, on 10/10/2007, -5/+2...because it's very nice because it's very nice because...
Could this be the new Digg comment sensation? Could this rise to the ranks of LOLCATZ, "In Soviet Russia...", etc.? You heard it here first! :-P- arbulus, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1I'm all for it.
It's a new meme because it's a new meme...
- arbulus, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1I'm all for it.
- Joshuarr, on 10/10/2007, -0/+8No.
- thepain353, on 10/10/2007, -2/+0or yes?
- shiftyroach, on 10/10/2007, -1/+0very stupid
- PerfektXj, on 10/10/2007, -6/+1lmao nice
- KevenM, on 10/10/2007, -8/+60If you stare at it long enough...
nothing happens. Don't waste your time like I did.- jithar, on 10/10/2007, -6/+1If you want something to stare at for some effect check:
http://digg.com/playable_web_games/a_skare_is_a_line_inside_a_square
I did a skare and it was the single most useless thing I ever did. It rocked!
- jithar, on 10/10/2007, -6/+1If you want something to stare at for some effect check:
- nicksauce, on 10/10/2007, -26/+71This should be the official emblem Christianity.
- Takran, on 10/10/2007, -37/+6Or evolution.
- GeneralFailure0, on 10/10/2007, -12/+2You're both embarassing the respective sides of your argument. Not every topic needs someone to bring up some unrelated controversial issue.
- nicksauce, on 10/10/2007, -10/+1How so?
- ToadLeg, on 10/10/2007, -4/+36Christianity: God exists because a book says he exists. The book is true because God exists.
Evolution: Things evolve because the evidence says they do. The evidence is true because.... things evolve??? No. The evidence is true because it is found in the world. To deny the truth of evidence is to deny the truth of the world, also known as reality. There is no circular reasoning behind evolution, except in the belief in reality (reality exists because it does). Do you want to deny the existence of reality?- thedoubler, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2... The best rhetorical question I've heard in a while.
- hmmdar, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3The only reality that exist is my own, and you can never prove otherwise.
- macguysoft, on 10/10/2007, -12/+0Does Christianity say that the Bible is true because...it is? What kind of crap is this? Are you trying to be funny or are you just plain stupid? Please get educated in apologetics and then get back to me if you like. There are plenty of logical arguments for believing that God exists rather than atheism. What does evolution mean by the way? What is this "reality" that you're speaking of? Care to explain?
- Zarokima, on 10/10/2007, -1/+15The only logical reason for the existence of God is that human beings needed something to explain what could not be explained and pulled the "a supernatural being did it" excuse, then refused to accept scientific truth when things explained by God could actually be explained well. He's just a bad idea that got worse since he's no longer needed. God did not create man, it was man who created God.
- nicksauce, on 10/10/2007, -0/+9"Does Christianity say that the Bible is true because...it is?"
I have heard this argument more times than I can count. - khellendros1984, on 10/10/2007, -1/+8Only an idiot tries to explain religion using logic. I have irrational belief in a big, invisible man/woman/thing in the sky. There's no explaining that using logic.
- TheWhiteOtter, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4Evolution is a theory becuase EVERYTHING in science is a theory; Newton had a THEORY about gravity (and Einstein about Relativity) not proof as we cannot porve anything in science, instead we come up with theories that explain what we see. In fact if you think about it you cannot even prove the that another person is real; you may be insane and are imagining them. Saying something isn't true just becuase its a theory shows just how little you know about scientific method.
As to your link I hardly think that a site that proclaims "Jesus will return" can talk objectively about the theory that disputes christianity's founding story. - arbulus, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1No it would be more along the lines of:
"The Bible is true because it says it's true. Look at verse..."
- arcowden, on 10/10/2007, -6/+2You've never really dabbled in metaphysics, have you?
- brokencrystal, on 10/10/2007, -6/+1I was thinking of the age of the earth and evolution... (macro)
- TygerrTygerr, on 10/10/2007, -2/+2Don't see why it's specific to Christianity.
- Mrstupid7, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1This is a mostly US site and the far far far far far majority of people in the US are Christians.
- longbow486, on 10/10/2007, -1/+0or atheists
- Mrstupid7, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1This is a mostly US site and the far far far far far majority of people in the US are Christians.
- ojk007, on 10/10/2007, -2/+3Seconded.
- schleppo, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3Yes, it's very convenient to apply a simple epithet to describe an entire group of people. French are stinky, whites can't dance, women can't drive, etc. Please continue to enlighten us, oh wise one.
- Nachrisco, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0It's not describing a group of people, it's describing a school of thought. I think the epithet is quite apt.
- Takran, on 10/10/2007, -37/+6Or evolution.
- DreamVsPs2, on 10/10/2007, -7/+1ahhaahhahahahahaahha
- spyd3rweb, on 10/10/2007, -7/+79digg needs a picture section because digg needs a picture section because...
- i6koi, on 10/10/2007, -2/+4ive always found it interesting people want a picture section
i mean, we have a videos section, and we all know how well used that is- fusama, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Most people want a picture section so that the picture "stories" can be filtered out of the news section. And, I for one do find the video section convenient.
- TheRealToma, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1How about a sub-section that has nothing but pics?
- i6koi, on 10/10/2007, -2/+4ive always found it interesting people want a picture section
- gregdogum, on 10/10/2007, -5/+2this is funny because
- superpaulio, on 10/10/2007, -4/+2Oh NO! I'm being sucked into it!
- severfire, on 10/10/2007, -1/+5i cant find escape... ahh!! ;-)
- chsbrgr, on 10/10/2007, -1/+6It works because the image says so.
- davidwasman, on 10/10/2007, -6/+1Bush's Strategy Revealed!
- buzzert, on 10/10/2007, -1/+22Somebody needs to make a shirt of this!
- dawgma, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Here is an EPS file (vector) that you can give to a Printer to make your own shirt for $20
http://www.gigasize.com/direct.php/mHiinJaKn6yagKOhk4ah/reasoning.eps - xBDVx, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Actually, I'd like a screensaver of this. Preferably where the circle rotates and (maybe) bounces around the screen....yeah, that'd be great.
- dawgma, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Here is an EPS file (vector) that you can give to a Printer to make your own shirt for $20
- abdeviation, on 10/10/2007, -2/+19who else's eyeballs went around in circles 20 times?
- jaywalker, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1no of times eyeballs went round (inversely proportional to) 1/person's IQ
- lynx77, on 10/10/2007, -5/+1just yours u retard
- picklematrix, on 10/10/2007, -3/+0I want this on a SHIRT!
- jessehadden, on 10/10/2007, -9/+1I don't get it. "Circular reasoning works because" -- there isn't even a punctuation concluding the thought. But then, my mind never did accept religious programming.
- khellendros1984, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5*whoosh* Right over the head...
- arbulus, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Just keep reading:
Circular reasoning works because circular reasoning works...etc
- samryan, on 10/10/2007, -4/+0I'm very aroused.
- ClassicalBadger, on 10/10/2007, -3/+1Does any brave soul with a gif editor feel up to the challenge of making an animated version?
- xstarsprinklesx, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1I think that would defeat the purpose.
- arcowden, on 10/10/2007, -3/+3"Evolution: Things evolve because the evidence says they do. The evidence is true because.... things evolve??? You've obviously never dabbled in metaphysics, have you?- brokencrystal, on 10/10/2007, -6/+1Define evolution please. (micro or macro) There is circular reasoning behind macro-evolution... Sedimentary layers are dated how? Fossils are dated how? When were the sedimentary tables invented and by who, how, and why? When was carbon dating invented? Look here and you will find your answers!
- shadomynd, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4For the last time, micro and macro evolution are the same ***** thing.
- fusama, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3macro evolution was invented so that the anti-evolution crowd could come up with a type of evolution that couldn't be easily proven to exist in a lab, due to the absurd timescale required. It's like saying there's micro prime numbers and macro prime numbers with macro prime numbers having over 1000000 digits, then asserting that macro prime numbers don't exist because noone has found one yet.
- shadomynd, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4For the last time, micro and macro evolution are the same ***** thing.

- strax, on 10/16/2007, -1/+7counter argument:
circular reasoning doesn't work because...- j0eb0nd7, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4You are trying to use circular reasoning to refute circular reasoning. Your counter argument is further proof that circular reasoning works because circular reasoning works because circular reasoning works because...
- kurdt33, on 10/16/2007, -0/+30Well that was a waste of 2 hours.
- lowerlogic, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6some people are slow readers.
- lynx77, on 10/10/2007, -0/+8i read very fast but still havent got to the end..
- lowerlogic, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6some people are slow readers.
- dcutting, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2Circular reasoning works because if it didn't, people wouldn't use it.
- firebhaal, on 10/10/2007, -2/+3first comment should have been:
"ITS A TRAP!"- Narwaffle, on 10/10/2007, -3/+2Thanks for the input, feel free to leave the internet whenever you want.
- lynx77, on 10/10/2007, -2/+2umm, no, you fail.
- lynx77, on 10/10/2007, -2/+2twice
- arbulus, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2I agree.
You should never pass up a chance to say "IT'S A TRAP" where it would fit.
- HappyScrappy, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1cause it does
- brokencrystal, on 10/10/2007, -3/+1And there we have the fossil record...
- ApokalypseNow, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Inaccurate - the fossil record works due to the layering of geological strata.
- alwaysnomadic, on 11/18/2008, -0/+5Sounds reasonable, in a round-a-bout kind of way.
- JQP123, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5Circular Reasoning: I know it (the Bible) is true because the Bible tells me so.
- Eggding, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0Thats how people get OCD

- Bilabrin, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Reminds me of a religous discussion I once had.
Me: How do you know God exists?
Them: Because the bible says so!
Me: How do you know the bible is correct?
Them: Because it was written by God! - hugobsd, on 10/10/2007, -1/+0"Only an idiot tries to explain religion using logic. I have irrational belief in a big, invisible man/woman/thing in the sky. There's no explaining that using logic."
True. Since believing in such a thing would classify you as insane, there's no point in using logic there. Logic is pointless for deluded, delusional, insane people. - colin409, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0I couldn't have said it better myself
- bitzbatz, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Brawndo is what plants crave because it's got electroytes. Plants need Brawndo because electrolytes is what they crave.
