- Snoop916, on 10/11/2007, -2/+81How do you know he's not using the leaf as a method of increasing his muscle mass?
- Akaji, on 10/11/2007, -7/+64Page is slooooow to load.
Also, frogs like water. You know that whole amphibious thing? It was probably just a lucky shot. - wildfire, on 10/11/2007, -1/+51That frog has a massive forearm. I wonder what his Digg user name is.

RED-EYED TREE FROG (Agalychnis callidryas), IN RAIN, NATIVE TO CENTRAL AND SOUTH AMERICA
Software/Firmware Version = Adobe Photoshop CS2 Macintosh
Copyright Notice = Copyright © MICHAEL DURHAM / Minden Pictures
He seems to have stripped the rest of the EXIF data out of the picture. That was all I could extract. There was no camera model or settings information available.
Obviously since Photoshop imbedded their name in the exif data, it was retouched. Looks like a background blur and slight sharpening. - manmademark, on 10/11/2007, -2/+29Don't stare at its eyes.
- stephant, on 10/11/2007, -0/+27I owned one of these red eyed tree frogs for a few years and this picture depicts what I would think is standard behavior in these frogs. For whatever reason (I don't personally know why) these frogs like to sleep on the underside of leaves. That's right, they stick to the bottom and scrunch up like a bead of water almost. They become very hard to find even in a cage. This guy looks like he's reaching up to stick to the bottom to go to sleep.
I did formulate two theories as to why they did it but I'm not a scientist so I don't know: The first theory was that they sleep stuck to the bottom of a leaf to avoid detection . . . a survival technique maybe (Let me assure you, they are hard to find under there. Many times I was worried he got out). The second theory is that they cannot stand the harsh rays of the sun during the day and so they sleep on the underside of a leaf. These frogs are completely nocturnal and they walk around (no they don't hop, but they CAN hop) all night long. They only sleep when it's light out (in my case I had a full spectrum florescent light on a timer).
Anyway, nice picture. I should post a few of the pictures I took of my frog before it died. - Oregonwild, on 10/11/2007, -0/+24Ah yes - this would be my image. It is not photoshopped or digitally altered, although it was taken with a special high-speed camera. At the moment I am in Arizona photographing bats with the same gear. My web site is www.OregonWild.com.
Typically my images on the net have my name and copyright as a small transparent marker. - So I am unsure how this came to be posted unless it was scanned off a greeting card or such.
As always - credit would be nice. However it is always nice to know that people enjoy the photo.

- noahhoward, on 10/11/2007, -3/+10He's not using it as a brolly, he's demonstrating his mad power... you can see the 'try me, Norris.' look in his eyes as he gives the camera man the stink-eye.
Chuck Norris and this frog will bring the apocalypse. - InfamousX241, on 10/11/2007, -0/+7I like air, but I sure as hell don't like hurricanes.

- Oregonwild, on 10/11/2007, -0/+7Original was shot on film - velvia 50. The only EXIF data would be from the scanner.

- killercow, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3This is a tree frog from Colombia,
They actually sleep the whole day until it gets dark en then stretch and bend just like a human does to get ready for the day/night.
The don't like water too much, as they can drown in only a few Cm's of it.
I have two of these in a paludarium at home. I'll test if my two also take cover when i spray bigger drops on them. would be neat, but i guess this one just awoke and is stretching himself. - connerdowney, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2Reminds me of this:
A photographer went to dinner at a friends house. After a lovely meal the hostess complimented the photographer on some of his photos. She said "The photos are gorgeous, you must have a very good camera?" The photographer said "Your meal was lovely - you must have a very good oven?" - KniteWulf, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2I can't believe forgot about those!
- crushfan, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2Popeye wanna-be.
- stephant, on 10/11/2007, -1/+3Oh well, when I wrote the above it had a paragraph break but now it's gone. Sorry about that. Nothing I can do about it now.
- GiggleStick, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2I see paragraph breaks. I don't know why people always say that the formatting got messed up by digg, and invariable, the formatting is there. Maybe they just need to reload or something.
- giddyup69, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1that is why the ninja turtles have a rat for a master
- f8pc, on 10/11/2007, -1/+2Its not that you don't have a camera. You can be a great photographer and have a bad camera and get good pictures. You can be a bad photographer with a great camera and take terrible pictures. Don't get me wrong though, a good camera does help but I doubt you are in the wood looking at a frog in the rain wishing you had a good camera. Its more about patients and endurance for wildlife photography.
- kaleberg, on 10/11/2007, -1/+2That's neat enough, but mice are much smarter than frogs as in my favorite frog and mouse picture:
