- Phyltre, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8It says it's been unveiled and yet I see no photos.
That would be the entire point of this story, at least to me--seeing a one-of-a-kind meteorite. - elnerdo, on 10/12/2007, -2/+10No pictures?!?!?!
WHY WOULD THEY EVEN WRITE THIS STORY WITHOUT PICTURES!! - onishenko, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Way to go Edmonton! You finally made it to the front page of Digg. (and nothing to do with the oil industry either)
- NINJ4, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6"Why would someone write with no-caps???"
it's been proven that with no caps the writer comes off as less hostile.
as in
you ***** retard (may be taken as sarcasm, joking around)
where as
YOU ***** RETARD (may be taken as anger)
it's all about the mood baby - vinbot, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5http://images.google.ca/imgres?imgurl=http://nai.arc.nasa.gov/library/images/news_stories/tagish.gif&imgrefurl=http://nai.arc.nasa.gov/news_stories/news_detail.cfm%3Farticle%3Dtagish2.cfm&h=220&w=220&sz=36&tbnid=8G8ZVzck59I7zM:&tbnh=102&tbnw=102&hl=en&start=2&prev=/images%3Fq%3DTagish%2BLake%2BMeteorite%26svnum%3D10%26hl%3Den%26lr%3D%26sa%3DN
- retral, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Hmm... seeing that meteorites come millions upon millions of miles through space then make a trip through our atmosphere, blazing across the sky at XX,000 miles per hour, then slam in to the earth; you think each and every one of them would be one of a kind. I mean, it's not like someone mass produces them and distributes throughout the world.
- 2drunk2funk, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Doesn't anyone remember the film THE BLOB ! Dont go near it, and definately dont poke a stick at it :|
- Yeyui, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3They would write the story without pictures because its a PRESS RELEASE! It's not an article meant for public consumption.
- BugMeNot2, on 10/12/2007, -3/+6"why would someone write with full-caps???"
Why would someone write with no-caps??? - Superpoo, on 10/12/2007, -4/+6why would someone write with full-caps???
- Schrade, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5Proper URL here: http://nai.arc.nasa.gov/news_stories/news_detail.cfm?article=tagish2.cfm
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3Their page designer needs to be bitch-slapped into 2006
- Petrarch1603, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Digg, but more information than a few paragraphs and including some pictures would make this link a lot more interesting.
- ambios, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4proper as in, the actual website, not through google, and without the google images banner up top
- Levin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1ALRIGHT ALBERTA! Home province, GO FLAMES!
- retral, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1@Krutch - Tons and tons of meteorites hit antartica every year... Theyr'e still frozen... but for obvious reasons hardly ever found :P
- Krutch, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0If I understood the article right, it is one of a kind because it is still in a fozen state. unharmed by our atmosphere. When objects enter our atmosphere the friction causes them to heat up. This is a one of a kind because for whatever reason, the atmosphere didn't burn it or un-freeze it?
- Krutch, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I write with full caps all the time. If your looking for a reason I can give you one. Military logs and documents (at least in teh Coast GUard) are supposed to be written in Caps only.
I don't know how many times I have wrote a log at work only to switch to writing and e-mail and not realize I have been writing the e-mail in CAPS. I wish there was a way to change the case of all leters. - TheK, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Nobody likes a troll. Not only was that article not posted by Kevin Rose, but it really has no reason to be here. I left Slashdot for Digg because I was tired of "first posters," dupes, and late articles. Users like you are doing a good job of ensuring that Digg goes down that same path. Grow up.
- nesagwa, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Didnt the Discovery channel have a special on this late last year about the guy that found this meteorite?
- Sk3pt1k, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Artists rendition of the mysterious meteorite: http://www.freewebs.com/alexbaileyissuperman/Kryptonite.jpg
While, rare, samples of the rock can be obtained: http://www.tomheroes.com/images/kryptonite.gif - TyRaNNOus, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0You answered your own question. THEY WROTE IT. Since when does everything have to have preety pictures, I feel like im at the book fair in grade 3. Looking for the book with the coolest pictures and not the coolest story.
- jofer, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1What's wrong with thier page design? It's a press release on a news site, it needs to get the information across. Admittedly, it'd be nice to have better navigation within the subpages, but the article is clearly intended to open in a popup window. Besides, with a simple page like that is far less likely to fry thier servers under the load from digg. At any rate, thier main page is as modern looking as most other news sites, if that's what you're after...
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2No pics, no digg. Get it? Got it? Good.
- ikilledironman, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0hurray for Canada?
- kramer3d, on 10/12/2007, -5/+2Interesting information but such meteorites have been found before.
- vinbot, on 10/12/2007, -7/+4Proper?? Whaddaya mean, proper? My link works, darn it! Oh wait, you're just mad I beat you to it, aren't you? Well, okay, you can ride my coat tails!
