"...cell phones have been associated with a 200-300% increase neuroepithelial tumours that occur on the same side of the brain that the cell phone was being used on."

"It turns out that a call lasting just two minutes can open the "blood-brain barrier" in kids as well as adults, allowing toxins in the bloodstream to cross this blood vessel gateway into the skull and attack brain cells."
"The scientific evidence is absolutely conclusive: 60-hertz magnetic fields cause human cancer cells to permanently increase their rate of growth by as much as 1,600% and to develop more malignant characteristics. In 1990, the Environmental Protection Agency recommended that magnetic fields be classified as "Class B" carcinogens. This category for "probable human carcinogens" includes formaldehyde, DDT, dioxins and PCBs. [Dr.. Robert Becker, Cross-Currents]"

"In an effort to diffuse the negative publicity from the high-profile lawsuit, the cell phone industry itself funded a $25 million dollar research program to prove that cell phones are safe. After 6 years of intensive research, however, the results were not what they were looking for. Dr. George Carlo, the chief research scientist of the program, found evidence that cell phones pose some health risks, possibly even cancer." - olivejuice, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0wooohooo! now i can throw away my house phone!
- syntheticfth, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0No brain cancer? Finally...now is the time to buy one. And that bucket gwjc mentioned only sweetens the deal!
- mdipi, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I remember Kevin saying something about it on TWiT, i guess he can stop worrying now.
- Saint3k, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I'll believe it when I don't get brain cancer.
- gwjc, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Thanks; I'll feel a little more comfortable when it says 40 years... 10's a drop in the bucket.
- xjohnx, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0yeah, and there's no direct link between smoking and cancer either...right?
- frontbrain, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0A scientist explained this on the "Safety Hysteria" episode of *****: the electromagnetic waves (radiation) coming from the cell phone are too big to disrupt things on the scale of DNA and cells. I don't know if it is true, but it sounds good to me. Radiation is everywhere...
- unityemissions, on 06/17/2008, -0/+0you hit it right on the money. everything and everyone not directly associated with humanity works in unison naturally. we are the cancer of the earth, until we realize ourselves truly. we will be forced to change drastically soon. every action has an equal and opposing reaction.....
- brbubba, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I just bought an EMF detector for an alternate reason, but when I stick it next to my phone during a conversation it registers 30 milli-gauss, probably more, but thats as high as it will go. This basically means that consistent exposure next to your brain is going to be bad. Will it cause cancer, maybe not, but better safe than sorry.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0that study was on one type of cancer
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Johnny Cochran was not available to comment.
Not trying to be a troll, but he ended up with a big ol' tumor on the same side of his head he used his cel phone on. And no amount of money could save him. I'm just not convinced cellies don't cause some kind of change to the cells they are closest to. - yensed, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I kinda say BS... Maybe it wont cause cancer But it could stil cause other things..
- bootaw01, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Quote me: 40 years from now, the cell phone companies will be going through the same lawsuits and "Truth.com" ads that Big Tobacco is going through. I bet they know.
- SystemError, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0if it is a car crash or a old age evan a cell phone we are going to die at time point
- jwcorder, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Yeah, yeah, and so does smoking, microwaves, drinking, eating, breathing, bathing, exercising, watching tv, working on computers, ejaculating too much or not enough, punching someone in the boob, stumping your toe.....we all have to die of something.
- CompIsMyRx, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Brain cancer from a cell phone is complete nonsense. The fact is that the signals sent from a cell phone are so weak that they can bearly make it through your skin, much less bone. The only reason that cell phones have such a long range is the fact that the frequency is low enough to be bounced off of objects much easier than high frequencies like WiFi. If these signals were in any way shape or form related to cancer, then we would all be dead as cell phone frequencies are on a similar range as AM radio.
- motionblur, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Study funded by Motorola's cell division.
/ didn't RTFA - zenghost, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0heh, i'm not surprised
- Guano, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0That's a relief.
- zediker, on 10/12/2007, -0/+01st of all, the media did overplay the whole cell phone cancer thing. It just happened that some people who had brain tumors also had cell phones. This in no way means the cell phones caused the tumors, nor had anything to even do with the tumors. Just because there is correlation, does not mean there is causation. This is something the media really needs to learn.
- laylapotato, on 12/04/2007, -0/+0Northwest Biotherapeutics is working on a new treatment for brain cancer and it is about to go in to clinical trials. Hopefully, when this is inevitably proven incorrect, they will have a successful treatment...

All commercial AM transmissions are located between 153 kHz and 26,100 kHz. These translate to 0.153 MHz and 26.1 MHz respectively. Cell phones (depending on the exact system implemented) operate at certain frequencies between the ranges of 800 MHz and 1,900 MHz. The frequencies alone are much larger than that of commercial AM transmissions, in addition to the waveforms being completely different. - AndersRosenberg, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Ha ha I thought so ^^
- hax0r, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Just get a bluetooth... honestly after holding a cellphone to my ear for 30 minutes or more, the thing heats up and I get a really weird feeling in my head that the thing is blasting radio waves through my brain.. think about it.. maybe it's not causing "cancer" but it can't be good for the brain... whether or not a bluetooth is any safer or dangerous, who knows.. probably the safest thing is the little ear bud on a wire, but they make them so cheap they stop working after a week of use. Does anybody know where I can buy a quality, WIRED ear bud for cell phones? I have a tekkeon bluetooth headset, it works very well but sometimes there's an echo and I have to turn down the volume, no big deal.. this is rated top on a few sites, it's the smallest you can buy, has excellent battery life and sound clarity and quality , cheap too at only $53 here: http://www.maxwho.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=20110&Category_Code=BT
