- grayBot, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5yea I work in a behavioral pharmacology lab... not only is this crap but its backwards...
A mammal would do this because hey..its hibernation time...I dont have any food ( glucose )better get lethargic and burn all my fat now( method of storing food on the body ) .
Key word here is lethargic , although one is burning fat you are doing it really fricking slow ( its dark you should be sleeping) , if you were to develop a pill on this finding you would most likely end up with a sleeping pill, yea maybe you could take this pill for say I dunno six months straight and lose weight, but then you would be.....***** HIBERNATING hehehe couldnt resist.
if you really want to lose weight caffeinated morning workouts are still the best way to go.
recipe:
wake up dont intake any sugar
drink black coffee
do cardio workout preferably interval based to accelerate the heart up and down as much as possible ( think of gas pedal )
try not to eat for the next hour or two..you should still be sweating ( but try to time it so you are eating before you experience any hunger pangs
This works primarily because caffeine makes the body start metabolizing fat for energy at about 3x normal rate ( hence the jitters and the ***** ) so as long as you didnt eat a donut at midnight your body should be low on sugar and go right into fat burning once you get that coffee.
Moreover the morning is an ideal time to stress your body w/ cardio/caffeine/any other uppers, because your testosterone is relatively high and your "happy" chemicals have been replenished throughout the night ..all this will minimize the bad stuff.. cortisol release etc
Finally, your body produces leptin which suppresses your appetite as you sleep ( so you wont wake up ) its still in effect when you wake up until you get your first taste of sugar ( why breakfast is easiest to skip ) ...
so basically this program puts your body directly into fat burning mode and keeps it their until you start eating , but dont be extreme, you should still eat a later breakfast and it will still work as it accelerates your metabolism throughout the day - SlashNot, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6im thinking this is just a method for people wanting fat people to stay in doors, so no one see's them.
- sarusa, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Another cheap shot: Based on the computer users I know I am going to call BS on this one.
- mistshadow2k4, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3This explain why all those goths are so bone-thin.
- stylerm, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Just drink large volumes of cold water. Your body spends calories heating the volume of water up. Its science.
- John184, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I call B.S as well. I used to Live at night. I was a projectionist at a movie theater and did night operations with the Army. I lived in the dark for 6 months and didn't lose any extra weight.
- dragonflight, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1good luck getting vitamin D
- kbark, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I'm sure, I'd find a way to still get fat in the dark, alone, and in a puddle of my own urine.
- glitchbit, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1But shouldn't we also wonder if it is trigger by not precieving light or not being in the presence of light? Maybe we should blindfold some mice.
- Pas3n7, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I smell a new diet pill on the horizon. Nerds rejoice!
- ColfaxMingo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"Ahem, this does not work.... worst diet ever...!" Comic Book Guy.
- boicraig, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1PUT THE FORK DOWN!
- Toiling, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1@ graybot
didn't you hear caffiene is bad for cardio workouts? it limits the oxygen circulation or some *****, it was on the news. especially bad if you have coronary heart disease. - degree, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1'im thinking this is just a method for people wanting fat people to stay in doors, so no one see's them.'
seconded - foxhoundadmin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"im thinking this is just a method for people wanting fat people to stay in doors, so no one see's them."
LMAO!!! nice one!
also, to whomever said this: "i wonder if this is why blind people are so thin;" i say, blind people with any form of blindness can see light. - kbark, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1If this really worked, there would be no fat blind people.
- tastypastry, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I'm always in the dark, and it seems that I've only gotten fatter?
- fenix25, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Another way to lose weight: lots of drugs!
- hiddenmidget, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Fuc@ yeah!
- Amplix, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1and how does the body determine you are somewhere dark?
- ASoggyWaffle, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1im sure graybot's way is much more efficient
- Gruesome, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Well, where I work, I'm kept in the dark - so I should be stick thin.
I'm not. - Kryptonitfusion, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1yet another method...i feel that there is no easy way to lose wieght...just work out!!!lazy bums
- joel2600, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1i wonder if this is why blind people are so thin?
i wonder if you can measure this in places where it is dark more often than light for part of the year. - tjl2015, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1What about the light from computer monitors, perhaps the gene requires absolute total darkness. Might not want to try it for a diet though. I once heard that if the eye goes a sufficient length of time, like months, with no input and absolute total darkness, they will degenerate and cause permanent blindness.
- CnorthMSU, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1It's in MICE NOT HUMANS. If you go to the actual research they also say that the animals go into a state of torpor. Not much fun. I'll take being fat in the sun with my speedo on, thanks.
- nature, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3THE CASE STUDY WAS OBVIOUSLY DONE ON THE WOW-PLAYING BLIMPS THAT POPULATE THEIR MOTHER'S BASEMENT
- zediker, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"good luck getting vitamin D"
Thats what milk is for ^_^ - angedinoir, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"Explain computer programmers, then."
They must be programmers with windows (the glass kind), or the lights on. I've been using the darkness method for 7 years now, and I'm barely 150lbs. - uglyredhonda, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1George W Bush must be super-skinny.
/ba doom tish - Machine, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Makes sense. If it's dark, I can't see my food and I lose weight.
- Phaedrus73, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Hey rock on, not only can I get thin, I can save alot of money on my electricity bill.
- urbanaut, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1What about all the fat guys that live in their mother's dark basement?
- boldscripts, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1This makes Bush skinny how..?
- differentangel, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1The article is crap. Every fat person I know lives in the dark and wear dark clothes to hide in.
- siouxmoux, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I am on a light diet. When I turn on the light I eat. So thats why I am am not losing any weight.
- Skrolnik, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I call BS on this. I've seen plenty of fat goths.
- martron3000, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Old way to lose weight: don't eat!
- Hale, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1OK so digg decided to throw my comment into a story I haven't even seen before.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"Maybe we should blindfold some mice."
and see how they run?
that would throw the experiment off. - Nanx, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1...Except that sunlight is a vital part for people to avoid depression...So you'll be thin but you'll want to kill yourself...yeah, good luck with that...
- angedinoir, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"Never saw a fat vampire."
You haven't been to a goth club lately, have you? - Wolfman~K, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Could it be, that if your in the dark you can't see how fat you are?
- tinwhistler, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Explain computer programmers, then.
BTW, the human-check text works fine for me..firefox 1.5 - IronChef, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1One Word....................SHROOMS!!!!!!!!
- RhCp9837, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1sweet dude!!!!
- Arramol, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1@Hale - Umm...wrong story?
- MrHoopla, on 12/06/2008, -0/+1If you want to lose weight really fast then you need to have a solid plan of action.
http://howtoloseweightreallyfast.com/index.php/the ... - uglyredhonda, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"This makes Bush skinny how..?"
He keeps himself in the dark on important matters.
/ba doom tish - asdfasdf, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1This works but you need 100% total darkness continuously for a long period of time (months) -- Obviously just works in theory. In practice you'd lose weight, but suffer serious consequences of being in prolonged darkness.
