    I think that the point being made was that the positions and platforms of the various parties isn't today what it was historically. IIRC, the democratic party actually used to be a much more *conservative* party. At some point, the party swung over to the left, and as such: "Today's Democratic Party isn't what it was 150 years ago."
    
    But don't let that stop you from making specious arguments.

The results found are interesting, but I don't think there is enough proof to go ahead and make flat-out statements about it. Regardless of my politics (liberal) this study seems to be lacking scientific merit. You can't conduct a study of 46 people and expect to get accurate results.

It described an experiment in which conservatives were more likely to react to certain stimuli in a certain way than liberals were. "More likely" doesn't mean "always." And, they have experimental data to back up their claim. If you've got a problem with the experimental methodology or the analysis of the data, then you should say so. Not liking the conclusion they came to is not a good reason to outright lie about what was said in the article.

The problem is rooted causally. You may say that nervousness and irritability tend to coincide with conservative party affiliation. But so what? That's an impotent statement. What is much more interesting is to determine how party affiliation and party principles themselves might lead to certain behavioral traits. Then you've got something substantive.

  Professor John Alford
  and Peter Hatemi postdoctoral fellow
  among others, then I'm sure that The National Science Foundation who funded this research would be interested to hear from you.
  
  What were your qualifications again?... assuming that you know anything about this research other than what was reported in this newspaper article that you may or may not have actually read?
