- LLLSecretChimp, on 03/27/2008, -0/+2Or trying to look like indies, emos, 50s, smarties or just cool people with poor eyesight.
- ArmandoM, on 03/27/2008, -0/+2Trying to look cool? I wear contacts because I look like a dork in glasses.
- nickerbocker, on 03/27/2008, -0/+1It's from looking at computer monitors all day.
- neocognitism, on 03/27/2008, -11/+2Or are trying to look indie, emo, 50's, smart, or just cool in general
- OBDriftwood, on 03/27/2008, -3/+8We're not geeks. Technically, we're dorks. And if you wear glasses and "high-waters" you're a spaz. Please get it straight, people.
- N256, on 03/27/2008, -1/+30Literally busted a myth huh.
Silly me, I always thought people wore glasses because of their bad eyesight. - VijchtiDoodah, on 03/27/2008, -1/+5Being agreeable doesn't change the fact that the bespectacled are still perceived as geeks.
- noahgelman, on 03/27/2008, -1/+5Dugg for using the word 'bespectacled'
Not dugg for any other reason
Feel free to digg me down anyways
- noahgelman, on 03/27/2008, -1/+5Dugg for using the word 'bespectacled'
- Alix7, on 03/27/2008, -3/+3Unless they wear those emo goggles, then they're just TRYING to be intellectual.
- cosmogal, on 03/27/2008, -16/+0If you wear glasses mean they have lazy reading habits
- cubbiesx, on 03/27/2008, -1/+23I used to be agreeable and open...then I had lasik surgery and now I live with my 25 cats...get off my land!!!!!
- kaeppler, on 03/27/2008, -4/+1You needed a TV show to figure that out? Common...
- spudnic, on 03/27/2008, -0/+4Click the link, dumbass.
- sloonark, on 03/27/2008, -0/+3Congratulations, you're a moron.
- Barnolde, on 03/27/2008, -0/+10Like all things geeky; games, gadgets, computers, etc. It takes time for the mainstream to accept it. This isn't 1991, no one cares if you wear glasses.
- spudnic, on 03/27/2008, -0/+4"We have literally busted the myth that people who wear glasses are introverted or have particular personality characteristics. They are more likely to be agreeable and open"
Uh, aren't those particular personality traits? - CrushThemTorg, on 03/27/2008, -0/+6Contacts are for sell-outs ... and generally people with astigmatism.
- MrViklund, on 03/27/2008, -0/+2Eeeeh what? Maybe you should Mythbust the word Geek instead... Only because you have glasses and look geeky doesn't mean that he or she is a geek. So there is no real "myth" to bust here.
- passedoutghost, on 03/27/2008, -0/+6It's a stereotype, not a myth. Come to my ancient history lectures and you'll see plenty of chicks wearing glasses, but they'll inevitably ask question like, "Who was Caesar again?"
- cubbiesx, on 03/27/2008, -1/+2I think you meant blond chicks,,,
- passedoutghost, on 03/27/2008, -0/+1Surprisingly the majority are brunettes, so go figure.
- cubbiesx, on 03/27/2008, -1/+2I think you meant blond chicks,,,
- louiebaur, on 03/27/2008, -0/+1I wish this story was posted when I was in the 9th grade that would have been helpful for me
- allisonivy, on 03/27/2008, -0/+1what a complete waste of time, i could have told you that. seriously, who gave these people grant money?
- douchewag, on 03/27/2008, -0/+3New myth every digg member wears glasses.
- Maegashira, on 03/27/2008, -0/+1that may be true you know, but i'd rather believe what i was supposed to. people with glasses are totally nerds.
- argo2d, on 03/27/2008, -0/+1http://ask.yahoo.com/20060818.html
but more importantly, geeks don't bite the heads off chickens!!!- LLLSecretChimp, on 03/27/2008, -0/+1Speak for yourself. Now if you'll excuse me, I need to clean the blood off my glasses and change the straw in my pit.
- aceakm, on 03/27/2008, -3/+1I can picture it now - "Oh yeah, well Mythbusters proved that I'm not a geek!"
- acceleration, on 03/27/2008, -1/+1Read the article...
- aceakm, on 03/27/2008, -0/+1Okay, I re-read the article. What'd I miss?
- acceleration, on 03/27/2008, -1/+1Read the article...
- travbrack, on 03/27/2008, -1/+3Yeah! Take that Mr. Prom King. You think you're so great 'cuz you don't wear glasses but you're NOT!!! YOU'RE NOT!!!!
...I'm so alone - Abomonog, on 03/27/2008, -0/+1
What? This actually made it to 50 comments without the line "Warning: the contents of this article may be inaccurate", being attached to the headline? :) - dezent, on 03/27/2008, -1/+3Mythbusted - The world is not flat
- colosis, on 03/27/2008, -0/+1what about ppl who go on digg?
- opticwind, on 03/27/2008, -0/+1"...despite all evidence to the contrary."
Also 10 bucks says the author of this wears glasses. - loopyloopy, on 03/27/2008, -0/+2not now anyway.
a lot of girls with perfect eyesight these days are getting designer seeing glasses for that mythical 'I'm hot but smart' look created by advertisers. - terrix, on 03/27/2008, -0/+3Dug down for inaccurate title, should read, "people who wear glasses aren't nerds"
Geeks don't need to wear glasses, and geeks have social skills thus are agreeable and open, so if anything it proves people who where glasses are more likely to be geeks (they still have to be passionate about something).
I don't wear glasses anymore, and fully embrace being a geek.- keruha, on 03/27/2008, -0/+2*wear
I guess you aren't a nerd.
- keruha, on 03/27/2008, -0/+2*wear
- WilliamDavis, on 03/27/2008, -0/+1"We have literally busted the myth that people who wear glasses... have particular personality characteristics. They are more likely to be agreeable and open"
Duh. They don't have particular personality characteristics. They're likely to be... - humbled, on 03/27/2008, -0/+1"We have literally busted the myth that people who wear glasses ... have particular personality characteristics. They are more likely to be agreeable and open..."
Wow. If the summary text is from the article, it is *highly* contradictory. - LLLSecretChimp, on 03/27/2008, -0/+2Wouldn't the fact that the study was done in Australia skew the results? I once heard someone who'd just visited describe Australians as "aggressively friendly".
- jstem1994, on 03/27/2008, -0/+2"Literally" busted? I doubt it.
- ALyken, on 03/27/2008, -0/+2Hmmm... All this time I thought that people did not CHOOSE to wear glasses because they wished to join a group. I thought that if your eyesight was bad, glasses helped you to see better. Maybe I am a geek after all. I have been SO wrong about all this. Maybe if I stopped wearing my glasses altogether (mind you, I'll have to give up on reading and watching TV for the rest of my life) I won't be a geek anymore.
- curtisag, on 03/27/2008, -0/+1This article implies there is something inherently bad about being introverted. There's nothing wrong with being introverted, some of the most famous and creative people in the world were introverts. Albert Einstein, Charles Darwin, Michael Jordan, Harrison Ford, and Tom Hanks to just name a few.

- bronxelf, on 03/27/2008, -0/+1THANK YOU.
- Duositex, on 03/27/2008, -0/+2If I see someone use "literally" like this one more time... I'll literally tear my hair out.
- maxxian, on 03/27/2008, -1/+1........"literally"
- BCModder1, on 03/27/2008, -0/+1story buried for total no ***** sherlock value.
- czeman, on 03/27/2008, -0/+1Ya think? Some of the most seductive girls on the planet wear glasses and aren't even really all that smart! lol
