Music In Flames - Hypnotizing watch!
5min.com — Watch this awesome physics experiment: the Rubens Tube - standing fire waves. A great example of sound visualization.

- VanillaStarfish, on 12/14/2007, -0/+0This was misleading. I was hoping for In Flames the Swedish metal band.
You suck, ya jack ass.

- Amberjilly, on 12/12/2007, -8/+0Just don't try it at home
- legoalert33, on 12/12/2007, -0/+4I have tried it at home and it is safe, if you are smart about it and aware of the dangers of pressurized fuel and open flames.
But Im still not encouraging the under qualified to try this. - kcen, on 12/12/2007, -0/+3Who are you... the fun police??

- Osirus1156, on 12/12/2007, -0/+11That is so cool. I'm gonna do this at home!

- gahal, on 12/12/2007, -2/+1Wonder if my insurance covers accidentally burning my place down.
"Well you see officer, I wanted to see what In Flames looked like.. well in flames." - Viiince, on 12/12/2007, -0/+1We'll have to wait a bit more for the new in flames album :(

- D34DC311, on 12/12/2007, -4/+2Does digg enjoy reposting old stuff?
- BlaenkDenum, on 12/12/2007, -0/+3Don't you have something more productive to do than to go around bitching about old re-posts? Who cares if things are old, if they're good they'll continue being popular, the people are the judge of that. 'Tis digg.
- delrin500, on 12/12/2007, -1/+1I am going to make on in my garage but way bigger!! OH YAAA!!! Nothing more responsible then some strong drinks and open flames.. YEEE HAAA
- yoda17, on 12/12/2007, -1/+7Why do computer simulations of flames look so much more realistic than real flames?
- ettin, on 12/12/2007, -6/+2Are there any videos of this with music that doesnt suck, like music that would never be played on the radio?
Bah, a little bit more energy, he just replaced a mellow treble song with a loud treble song. Should have put on some bass heavy music just to show the difference, maybe even a sine sweep. - Yupp, on 12/12/2007, -0/+10Dugg for Jared! Your video will not die! This has been around for a long time, and it's fascinating to see how it resurfaces now and then.
A few fun facts:
1) This was produced for a panel appearance at Flash forward, who would not allow flames onstage, so it had to be done in his garage, then taped.
2) The star of the show here has also appeared on the reality show "Texas Ranch House" on PBS.
BTW, this whole thing makes me realize that YouTube needs MORE SCIENCE! There's a lot of smart folks here, go make some videos. The fact that this keeps resurfacing tells me there's a shortage. - garywoo, on 12/12/2007, -1/+4One of these playing TANK!, the opening theme from Cowboy Bebop.

- bean48009, on 12/12/2007, -0/+1Wasn't expecting that at all...I thought I saw that on Mr. Wizard once...hmmm....
- ddonahue, on 12/12/2007, -2/+1I wonder if general uncontrolled flames, from say a house or grass fire, could be effected by a speaker place near to and pointing along the flameline using this trick, if so with the right sound you cold make a McGuyver firebreak and jump through to safety through a compression point.
Of course you loose the speaker in flames a few seconds later, the flameline probably has to be thinner than is actually found in nature and you'd need a very loud sound to actually do it wth flames that are 3-10 feet high.
Buy just saying, geez that would be cool. - YouandWhoseArmy, on 12/12/2007, -0/+1this has been on digg before... still extremely cool though. im surprised some band doesnt make these for a huge concert show.
