- MikeCampo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I wonder when HP will start making these printers.
- Reddog_x2000, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0sweet. Sounds like this could solve a lot of problems for people needing organ transplants. .
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"A liquid suspension of live human cells is passed through a needle with a diameter of 500 microns."
That is amazing - nice find - bluefire0728, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Yeah, this is pretty sweet stuff.
But it was also submitted 4 days ago. http://digg.com/science/Printing_living_cells
Eh, whatever, I digg it because maybe this one will make it to the homepage. - nibble128, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0nice find kevin
- tysonhy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Wow! That's Pretty Neat. Good Find!
- Spirckle, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Way cool! No more worrying whether too much gin will ruin my liver. I'll just print a new one.
- G33KFR33K, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Dugg.
- apollo2011, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0This was in Popular Science about a year ago, now it is finally becoming practical
- Konquest, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Yay! A dupe from my story... :P
- CheapDigWannbe, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0About a year ago students in some US university had done that using modified HP inkjet printer.
- Neonlights, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0print a liver... sounds good to me. kevin you might just need this thing :)
- jaxun, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I can just see the next generation of e-mail spam growing out of this: Print yourself a larger member now!
- hellsyeah, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0^lol at jaxun

"uhh, its for the archives" - mooninite, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0So... the Fifth Element comes closer to reality?
- G33KFR33K, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0That's because Kevin Rose is a king! Isn't that right, Kevin?
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Doesn't anyone realize how expensive ink cartridges are!?!
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0It's funny how there's hardly any rude comments when it's krose posting. Every other story has at least 5 jackasses spouting off about how the story is a dupe / stupid / copied from slashdot.
- chrisc2, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"Suwan Jayasinghe of University College London and colleagues at Kings College London has used a form of ink-jet printing to create "jets" of living cells. The biophysicists say their technique, which does not destroy the cells, could be used to grow biological tissue or even human organs."
What ever happened to matter can not be created or destroyed? - Ssullivan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Interesting story kevin
dugg - Xinareiaz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Old as hell....this was in popular science like 8 months ago lol oh well it gets a dig for being cool
- mastahack, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0check out the mastahack profile and look at the one with 1600+ diggs. This is very diggnationworthy. much better then the microdwellings
- regedit2D, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I was just about to mention that as well dante2010. Funny how that works out.
- fortezza, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0
Actually it doesn't really matter to me if the news is old, only that it is interesting and not already duplicated in recent news. Who cares if Pop Sci already did the story, I don't read Pop Sci, so if it wasn't here I would never see it. See how that works? - mastahack, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Kevin check out my story I know you will love it because its better then those micro dwellings and kicks ass! check it out man just search the mastahack profile (WHAT AN AWSOME NAME!) and look for the one with like 1605 diggs and look at the website. this is crazy. (dont look at my other storys cuz they suck!
- Enkhei, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0So printers will now make organs, lol, cool. Hp no longer stands for Hewlett Packard. Now it is, Healthy People
- WaterDragon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0My kid was born of a Canon printer, and now he gets sick all the time.
I prolly shoulda had him with an HP instead.
We ought to have a rating system of these articles, based on their trekky-ness. Like, i surmise, from the comments, that this one is basically about 'replicator' treknology (wow...it started as a typo, but we may have a new word here...TREK-nology).
Aw'right, I know-- I'll go RTFA now....I just love reading the comments so much!
Someone always says it's really OLD! Others say it is awesome, others say it is for n00bs! No news here! lol - tidejwe, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0so if you could print organs. . . could you manipulate it to print entire insects? MAmmals? What if I am feeling bored one day and want to print out a new puppy? Maybe I want to add an exotic fish to my collection. Dodo bird anyone? It sounds like a cloning machine. . . only maybe you can make anything with any cells, meaning it's not really a clone, just a mutation! How exciting. Giant spiders. . . the possibilities...
Yeah, I'd like to know more about this because it just doesn't add up. If you could "PRINT" an entire organ from a single random unrelated cell then why not an entire organism? - nuxx, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0this reminds me of William Gibson's book, All tomorrow's Parties...where nanotech becomes so advanced, a device that works like a fax machine for living matter is more than just a dream on the horizon.
- nneonneo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Old news, PopSci actually reported this close to a year ago.
Yawn. - mikedoth, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Does anyone use the search tool before submitting stories? I'm guessing this is why the digg homepage has so much content...
- timewarrior, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0http://digg.com/science/Live_cells_jetted_with_electric_fields
- FrostyFire, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Dupe!
