- templest, on 10/12/2007, -1/+22I'd post something negative about the Church of Scientology,
but I'm too afraid that I'll be erased from existence,
so instead, I'll just say: Apples. - rocke86, on 10/12/2007, -0/+18Digg mirror of the mirror of codebot.org. (say that 10 times fast!)

The point is, they ARE hurting people and families. - AKBryant54, on 10/12/2007, -8/+19im sick and tired of people comparing christianity and other religions to the cult of scientology (CoS)
there are huge differences, i mean what is the most bizarre thing in the bible, jesus came back to life? moses seperated the sea?
now whats the most bizarre thing in the cos? an evil galactic overlord? brainwashing souls at a movie theater? H-BOMBS? what the hell!
the point is they are different, and the only reason u are comparing them is because u like to consider urself an intelligent athiest, and that every1 who believes in a higher power is stupid, and you are using scientology threads to denounce christianity and other religions.
p.s. i dont wanna hear u say "arent u denouncing the religion of scientology?"
scientology is a tax exempt corp. not a religion. in fact its not even considered a religion in many countries worldwide. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11See this thread for the statement of the "codebot.org" website owner:

Personally, I can't bring myself to take any comment seriously when it comes from somebody who uses words like "u" for "you", "urself" for "yourself" and "every1" for "everyone". - trogdoor, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10http://trogdoor.googlepages.com/How_Scientology_Workes.jpg

See? - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8They do hurt families. Hell, they chased a grandfather into Canada because he made a "Cruise missile" joke (as in Tom Cruise). They charged him under hate laws and forced him to flee the country.
If you anger the Church, they will ruin you. That's why they are evil. - SpyDerMann, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7I wonder what would happen when Scientologists realize that L Ron Hubbard is none other than Xenu himself :)

Can't sue google and you can't DDOS them either. I suggest anyone with a googlepage, or any other site for that matter, mirrors this on thier page. - MechaFenris, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7@ tormented and netbear:
Well, to each his (or her) own... but I don't remember someone ever being sued for revealing church teachings from say, the Catholics or Protestants. I'm sure there's an obscure offshoot like the deathcult armageddon people in Colorado....
As for the whole "capitalization" thing, Tormented... it's just proper use of the English language... it really has nothing to do with whether or not you believed Jesus existed. "Jesus" the noun refers to a proper name. Whether that proper name existed or is simply the product of a diseased mind doesn't change the rules of capitalization. Do you capitalize Mothra? Godzilla? Krusty the Clown? I mean, those things clearly don't exist... so by your logic, we should just capitalize things that exist. ;) Interesting... Or not... since you're probably twelve.

http://tinyurl.com/po58j - andyd273, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6You know, whether or not you believe Jesus was the Christ or not, you gotta admire a few things about Him.
1) He didn't take any crap from the religious bigots or politicians. He called some of the most powerful and influential political and religious leaders of his day "sons of vipers" and "beautiful tombs filled with dead men's bones" (paraphrased). He didn't care if he was talking to the king, governor or high priest, he just told them flat out what he believed, not ass kissing or caring if they were going to like it or not. And mostly they didn't like it and tried to have Jesus killed quite a few times.
2) He really cared for real people. He didn't put on airs and act like a snob or a hypocrite, he just loved people how they were, patched their lives up, showed them real love and left them much better off than they were before. And everyone he helped came to him first. He never crammed stuff down their throats, just showed them the way and helped them when they asked for it.
3) None of the things that he taught people has any hate in it at all. Stuff like "turn the other cheek," "if a man asks for your coat, give him your cloak (shirt) also," "If you are asked to walk a mile, go two," "Love your enemies, be kind to those that spitefully use you..." Everything Jesus said and did was about putting other people first, loving your enemies, and sacrificing something to help other people out.
There are a lot of other good points I could make, but this is the main one:
A true follower of Jesus (not just a religious person, most of whom I don't enjoy being around) will show love to everybody, put other people first at their own expense, overlook wrongs done by others to themselves, and try to make the lives of everyone that they meet better and less painful.
And here is a little advice to other Christians that read this: If you can't show real (honest/pure) love toward someone for any reason, then don't even think of trying to help them. Just leave them alone and let someone that can show them that kind of love help them out... And the world will be a better place for it. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5This mirror is sooo slow already, I pity the site when it makes the front page.

@aurath, that letter doesn't fit the requirements of the DMCA, therefore an illegal takedown - tormented, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4If you remember not long ago on Digg google's racial profiling was on the first page I got these results from searching for "Scientology is known for"
Scientology is known for not taking such criticism lightly
Scientology is known for its long and hard-fought court battles.
Scientology is known for its vocal opposition to medical treatment for mental illness
scientology is known for being secretive
Scientology is known for facing down its enemies; its handbook urges followers not to turn the other cheek
Scientology is known for locking people up in dangerous places such as chain lockers
scientology is known for super litigious behaviors
Scientology is known for their rabid attacks more than anything else
Scientology is known for its voracious financial appetite - DaffyDuck, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4I am so happy to see this on the front page. I hope if it gets taken down a new one will appear on the front page and the cycle will repeat until the lawyers just give up.
- ZachPruckowski, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4The "Church of Scientology" is ridiculous. A vindictive, for-profit religion? I thought we already had capitalism for that?
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Is it just me or can you read the explanation and still not have a clue what Scientologists believe?
So, is that a thetan in your pocket, or are you just happy to see me? - andyd273, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Good summary.

- nigel40, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3In Los Angeles, where I live, a lot of people join the crazies at Scientology for networking purposes. I have personally known 2 very intelligent people who, to my amazement, sold out and joined them. The result was that one girl I know got help from the "church" to open a music club, and the other gets acting jobs thanks to Scientology. They are a more evil Masons for the modern world.

You're right. They didn't hurt you, they hurt someone else who posted correct information.
Why should you care?

- richiestang78, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I am happy to see that scientology is finally being discussed and revealed for the dangerous cult that it is. Personally I think religion can and has been good for humanity. I personally dont believe in God as I am a Athiest and understand the need of practicing Christians, Muslims, Budists etc to have faith in a higher power. I was raised Lutheran so Im not talking out of my ass like some of the other "athiests" that have posts in the various Scientology diggs. Speaking as a Atheist the whole Jesus, God, Moses Noah etc is more believable then Xenu and atomic volcanoes. I think If you want to believe in a religion thats fine and I can respect that, but scientology in any respect is not a religion and is a threat to all who are sucked in by these brainwashing people.
I think all digd users need to start finding and digging whatever you can about this cult and help expose them for what they are. - bogomill, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2The other thread is already bogged down with comments, so I'm posting this here:

- MystaWright, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4All religions are just large cults with more followers than the smaller ones. People are allowed to be as stupid as they want to be and believe any dribble they want to follow. Life is simple and has a meaning for everyone, you just have to find your place in the lives of all people. I know the meaning of life along with many others, but what does this, or this story, have to do with technology?
