May 23: World Population Becomes More Urban Than Rural
news.ncsu.edu — For the first time in human history, the earth ’s population will be more urban than rural, according to scientists from North Carolina State University and the University of Georgia.

There are other global factors like global warming, and the Internet, that are also driving us towards this tipping point when people will act more like a global "family". That time may still be centuries away but urbanisation leads to an improved quality of life through improved education, prosperity and access.
