- fkuall, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Genus One Helicoid:
This is an embedded minimal surface of genus one asymptotic to the helicoid. The Gauss map has an essential singularity at the end. So far, this is the only embedded minimal surface where such a singularity can't be removed by a change of corrdinates.
i really recomend taking a look at the second gallery link http://www.indiana.edu/~minimal/archive/index.html - muikano, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2frak, where's the summation proof? I mean, i'm not a whiz at math but it doesnt take a genius to sum up the major concepts of a paper. What exact technique did he use to prove it? What kind of factors did he test his structure on? Is it just on the molecular forces or does it include gravity and wind shear?
Where's the freaking variables? Better reporting please. - kualla, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1wow coooool... so now what?
- outerspaceapple, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0why?
- gamer31, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0hahaha 62 diggs and 3 unrelated comments
- chime, on 10/12/2007, -0/+057 diggs, 1 unrelated comment. I wonder how many people dugg this just because it sounds cool. Ha.
/doesn't get it either - Lostcosmos, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0+Digg, because I plan to use the word helicoid as many times as possible in the next 24hrs. Helicoid .
- jamsea, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Wow, that went RIGHT over my head.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0a bit more clear

must be so much fun contimplating the topography of soap bubbles
i would never get out of the bath.
it just goes to show not only can a coffee cup become a donut but it can become a helicoid too. - outerspaceapple, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0and also, wtf?
- WaterDragon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Wow... my first day at the digg site, and I've been fascinated for hours with the articles and comments.....a nice mix of science, and now even topology, and lots of my fave techie news thrown in.
I can't wait to read about this new advance in topology!
I dunno how I lived just reading Slyck for so long....even one of my fave slyck commenters, zbeast, is here!
I gotta go read about the soap bubbles now! - tdoug44, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I can't believe this got so many diggs....Is this really something I should know about?
- piesforyou, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0In it's 3Dness glory (cross eyed stereo image...)

so... why? - Strd, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Old news. More than a month ago all pop-science sites reported this. no digg.
- crapiolio, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0No... it's weird math.
- SkydiveMike, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Dug because it sounds cool
- gamer31, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0i think that this prooves that albert diggs his own storys with multiple accounts.
- gamer31, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Digg where you can find a bunch of idiots pretending to be smart by digging a story they have no idea about.
- WaterDragon, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0OMG those Mathematicians have completely lost touch with any actual reality!
Somebody SLAP them!
There are so many more important problems they could try to solve!
Can I un-dig the article? - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0That's cool...
