- CkMaverick, on 10/11/2007, -4/+173I personally would find it ironic if they banish the video and cut all ties with the actor. Political correctness today has become out-of-control. Didn't Jesus, in the Bible, save a prostitute, told everyone that 'he without sin cast the first stone' and then told the prostitute that she was forgiven of everything and to go have a normal life? I would find it very hypocritical of the Christian administration overseeing this to condemn an actor for working on their video because he had previously been involved in the adult industry that he is no longer with...

- skyshock1, on 10/11/2007, -23/+8As much as I'd like to laugh at this, it's inaccurate. From the site:
"Eric Linden is not affilated with the content of this site in ANY way... and we wish him the best of luck! We are here as a comical, silly and extremist view of sex as a whole, not a porn site!! "
And I don't see any evidence that he was in any porn videos? Buried. - gr3yn3t, on 10/11/2007, -5/+56Linden grew up in Columbus.

- CkMaverick, on 10/11/2007, -4/+12@bruenig
That is the way the Bible is taught today. If you were to say that we should use the older teachings of the Bible then this man should have been stoned to death yesterday =P It is frivolous to argue what it used to be because obviously we have turned it into what it is now. If they wanted to teach the Bible like it was from the the time soon after Jesus then they will have to add a good number of books that were omitted afterward because they didn't appeal too much to the religious scholars at the time. Not to mention that all the books of the Bible have been edited by other authors over the time and were all written in very different time periods up to hundreds to thousands of years apart. It is vastly different now to what it used to be but that is the same with any book written by several men over a large amount of time. I am not religious today, but was raised very deeply in both Catholic and Christian surroundings. Religion is what we make it and the point I was trying to make is that to condemn the video because of this guy's former career would be in violation of the love, acceptance, and forgiveness teachings of religion today. - ferrofluid, on 10/11/2007, -2/+12"Irony"
not really, some sections of the Evangelicals and the Republicans seem to enjoy hanging with gay porn stars.
Too many news events to be coincidence, time and time again.

I think you're limiting yourself to the literary idea of irony. Let's broaden ourselves a bit and see that a man used in a video for an extremely radical creationist Christian museum was, in fact, a public fornicator is a form of irony.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Irony#Situational_irony - judicar, on 10/11/2007, -2/+4 @tehpwnrate
I stand corrected sir! However it is a weak form a situational irony, it would be much more ironic if the actor was secretly teaching Bio 313 evolution courses at the local university or if it was an Abstinence Museum.
Now an Abstinence Museum would be worth visiting, I'm sure they'd have wax sculptures of Mandy Moore in the basement. - wardriver20, on 10/11/2007, -31/+5"Why can't I stop smiling?"
Probably because:
1. You hate Christians
2. You love sin
3. You're away from God - bruenig, on 10/11/2007, -1/+5@CKMaverick
If you say religion is what you make it, then they can make it intolerant of pornography and those who participate in it regardless of what the bible says since they are making it what they want like you say. Religion is a joke anyways, trying to delve into logic using religion as a premise leads to headaches.
Christianity itself ignores much of the doctrine such as killing gays and stoning disobedient children and such so much that it really doesn't matter, you can say whatever you want and still be a christian because they don't really follow the bible, they have their own flowery values and try to fit it into the bible. - themastersb, on 10/11/2007, -12/+5"Why can't I stop smiling?"
Because you're a homosexual? - CkMaverick, on 10/11/2007, -2/+7@bruenig
You're right, they could have made it that way... but they didn't. I agree that religion is a joke and for the most part useless but the fact remains that most people on this planet are religious and we have to live and deal with them everyday. It is easy for me to agree with you being an atheist myself. There are both bad and good values taught in the Bible and the teachings today mostly highlight the good. Even though the general collective is against homosexuality and other things they deem immoral, they also try to teach tolerance. I am not trying to sugarcoat religion but only the few radical and extreme have overstepped their teachings and tried to forcefully stop such things over demonstrating disapproval. Overall, you don't see 81% of Americans trying to suicide bomb gay bars/clubs, you only receive like 400 pieces of hate mail.
The fact is that religion was man-made. And it is what you make it and what I mean by that is humanity as a whole more than just an individual. This is what religion has become deriving from billions of humans forming and shaping it for thousands of years. Sure it has meant less to many Americans and they may not follow the teachings that strictly but I am just talking about the basic underlying morals that are promoted today. I am glad you agree with me in explaining that Christianity is already hypocritical over its teachings by picking and choosing what is or isn't the moral teachings of the church today. We all have our own values and we all try to make them fit with our religion or lack thereof. They maybe posing for social acceptance or truly a follower of the teachings; either way it doesn't matter, they are both representing a set of actively promoted morals.
The bottom line is that teaching of not "casting the first stone" is actively promoted in the Christian faith today. It is irrelevant to the argument what was done to the Bible or in the Bible before or after because that is what is taught and accepted today concerning a topic invented and altered by them in the first place. Jesus' teachings were considered the 'revolutionary new and true teachings' that changed the way their faith was practicing. After Jesus, the Old Testament stoning etc ceased. This is the new Christian doctrine and all I was saying is to go against that, and to banish a supposed reformed actor for what he did in the past would go directly against their teachings today.
Although this whole argument is all in vain considering the actor was never in porn and the story is bogus =P but this is to continue the hypothetical scenario in question. - deaddjembe, on 10/11/2007, -1/+3This guy has skills, you know, like nunchuck skills, sword skills, jump rope skills... 2. You love sin - Well, some sins are quite nice, like the premarital sex and the beer.
3. You're away from God - Well, considering that the distance from a non-existant object is undefined, and that 'away' is an undetermined scalar value with a fuzzily specified minima and maxima, 'away' isn't exactly the correct term.
To be honest, the reason *I* can't smiling is because it's always fun to see a group whose members fall into 'gullible', 'ignorant', or 'in support of gullibility and ignorance' take it on the chin. - gerbalblaste, on 10/11/2007, -3/+1btw, the whole think with the prostitute and jesus never really happened (as much as any bible stories can be judged to have really happened). It was added some time between the seventh century and the thirteenth. Its a nice story and all though with a good message.

Are you so freaking ignorant of history that you don't know that Christians are the
single consistent opposition to fascism throughout history.
You fool!
It was to escape bondage that Christians settled this land.
It was to avoid repression that Christians (almost all were) our founders agreed on
out bill of rights and constitution.
Who was the 2nd largest group killed by Hitler? Christians moron.
When you study the individuals that hid the Jews all over EU they were almost always serious christians.
Look at the history of EVERY legit social reform movement in our history.
Slavery, child labor, womens right to vote etc etc and you will see that these movements were
led and manned MOSTLY by Christians.
All over the planet now you see a steady creeping toward fascism from the liberal newspeak
and political "correctness" repression. Look hard butthead, it's not the Christians doing it.
And don't lets try and claim the homeland security is the big boogyman.
Someone willingly ignorant of the facts of Christian (not catholic) history could suggest
such a completely imbecilic idea.
IT's like I have siad for years...liberals don't read.
And if you ever find one who does they never read anything but what they agree with.
It's no wonder 35% of liberals think the US was complicit in 9/11 - you are nut jobs.- thcobbs, on 10/11/2007, -6/+111.) Bill of rights... No, they did that because they didn't believe the constitution would be ratified with them in it to start....
2.) Killed by hitler... Does that include himself and his armies? Germany was a Christian country waging war on mostly Christian countries. He actually enlisted the support of muslims because of his stance on jews.
3.) Hiding jews... The vast majority of Europeans at the time were christian. Any minority on in the saving of jews should be trumpeted more
4.) Social progress... Prohibition(that led to some of the worst crime in our history) was led by Christian women.
5.) You obviously are ignoring a large swath of Christian History known as various Crusades.

you mean who came here because the puritans were so fundamental they drove everyone nuts? then came here and commited genocide against the native people?
"It was to avoid repression that Christians (almost all were) our founders agreed on out bill of rights and constitution."
wrong, the founding fathers were a mix of deists, agnostics, atheists and christians. they didn't want the church involved with the state, read the treaty of tripoly.
"Who was the 2nd largest group killed by Hitler? Christians moron."
wrong, it was soviet POWs. hitler was christian.

you mean because most of EU are christians?
"Slavery, child labor, womens right to vote etc etc and you will see that these movements were

so the slave owners and klan members weren't christian? the business owners during the industrial revolution weren't christian? the churches that won't allow women priests aren't christian?
no one is saying all christians are bad, just like members of any religion or race. but you're version of reality is precisely what i was referring to. the evangelicals are spreading misinformation and people like you are lapping it up. - replikhant, on 10/11/2007, -0/+0what?

Islamics kicked Christians out the near east, Africa, Spain, Asia Minor, parts of eastern Europe, islands in the Mediterranean, and they made serious attempts at France and Italy. I would think that the Christianized areas of Europe had a good enough reason to take the war to the Islamics besides "hey we're Christians and they are Muslims, lets go kill um."

- agentaardvark, on 10/11/2007, -2/+1The article says "he's a porn star" , and then says.. "Eric Linden owns a pornographic web site called "Bedroom Acrobat." He's been pictured there in a T-shirt brandishing the site's sexually suggestive logo."
So how does owning a website make one a porn star ? Don't you have to be naked and having sex to be a porn star? - rgautier, on 10/11/2007, -11/+1HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Ted Haggard anyone? - lopla, on 10/11/2007, -3/+4To make matters worse several graphic designers and artists who created content for the museum are gay. So this is a conundrum for sure. God hates gays, yet god allowed them to build his museum.. why would god allow these evil gays to contribute? Praise the Lord!
- rafamous, on 10/11/2007, -2/+3No where in the bible does it say anything like God hates gay. God loves gay people. Always has and always will.
- AmusedToDeath, on 10/11/2007, -2/+2@rafamous
Not true.
God hates anyone who is deviating from his law. That includes *anyone* who is sexually immoral, not just gay people. So while homosexuality is not the only sin, it IS a sin, and is a rebellion against the law of God. You can't be in rebellion against God and be one of his children at the same time. God cannot be against himself.

- TwwIX, on 10/11/2007, -2/+3There's probably some priest whackin off under his robe every time he visits this so called museum.
- aaronleland, on 10/11/2007, -4/+1One of Jesus' greatest prophets spent most of his life persecuting Christians. One of his earliest disciples was supposedly a prostitute. One of the greatest tenets of the Christian religion is to accept humanity as sinners, yet to love them all the same. Find me any legit documentation (including the bible) that says God HATES gays. You won't because they don't exist. Buried as another obvious attempt from the Digg atheists to bash things they don't understand.
- TheNewNumberTwo, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Guess what, we do understand a good deal about Christianity. "earliest disciples was supposedly a prostitute." Yep she was definitely a ho. "Find me any legit documentation (including the bible) that says God HATES gays" with quotes like those its obvious you aren't familiar with the bible. Oh and "One of the greatest tenets of the Christian religion is to accept humanity as sinners, yet to love them all the same." Nope that can be one of its worst tenets, because said Christian(s) become "superior" by default. A hop skip & jump after that and you've got gas chambers, lynch mobs, wars, laws, and camps built by....
you know who. Atheists aren't mindlessly bashing, they are finding their voice. You don't understand science.
