Louisiana: Epically Doomed
badastronomy.com — The State Senate has approved a bill that will allow the teaching of creationism in the classroom. It ’s been sent on to the House, where it is expected to pass. The bill will have to go back to the Senate for approval due to an amendment that was added, but again that’s expected to sail through.

- pfuric, on 06/13/2008, -0/+5What's wrong with this country? If we have any hope of continuing our leadership in the world of technology and science, then this nonsense must be squashed!
- manzplan, on 06/13/2008, -0/+5next they will approve teaching that the earth is flat...
oh goodie! - spankermatic, on 06/13/2008, -0/+4Sneaky Creationists - all part of the wedge to make America a theocracy.
- ggathergood, on 06/13/2008, -0/+3I am a brit living in New Zealand and I was totally dumbstruck when I read this. I dont even live there and was totally lost for words. How can people be so short sighted. It reminded me of the New Morality from Ben Bova's series of books that make up the Grand Tour series.
- gordonj, on 06/13/2008, -1/+5Although many intelligent people have fought against this type of thing, unfortunately now it may be time to sit back and observe this experiment that the creationists insist on running. Watch as states like Louisiana and Texas (also looking likely to pass this kind of legislation) drop in terms of their scientific and economic achievements over the next few years/decades. Make sure to remember this turning point as we are about to see empiracle data of the effects of allowing religious ignorance into the science classroom. Perhaps these experiences will help prevent such mistakes in the future.
- girlasaurusrex, on 06/16/2008, -0/+1What are the residents of these states supposed to do if they do not wish to participate in such an experiment? Move?
- zombies187, on 06/15/2008, -0/+1America, I know you still have bad feelings about helping us...but I beg for federal intervention. You can't just let us run schools this way. It doesn't bring justice to these children to have local control of schools.
