Look me in the face and tell me you don't fancy me
theregister.co.uk — Professor says women don't fancy studs who get lots of sex......In other words, manly men are easy, and women don't like that. Or put another way: "Androgenisation in men is related to less restricted sexual behavior... women are averse to unrestricted men."

- IHaveCrayons, on 04/10/2008, -3/+151Women don't fancy studs who get lots of sex? So where are the studs getting sex from? Men?
- div2n, on 04/10/2008, -2/+18My experience is that it's all how women perceive you and, essentially, how you are selling yourself to them.
If you are broadcasting that you've had a lot of sex and they are focusing on that fact then that would be a turn off for many.
Alternatively, if women perceive lots of women being with you and around you, they find the proximity of lots of women to be appealing.
The important point is that women want to be around you, not that you have lots of sex. It's a fine line to balance, but if you do, you'll have more women than you know what to do with trying to be near you.- timisondigglol, on 04/10/2008, -2/+1Ahh social proof...
yeah I said it. - Janv1er, on 04/10/2008, -5/+1Well it depends, if a woman knows you've had sex with loads of other girls in a bar (for example) then you're more than likely to be a good ***** and she'll want you. You don't even need to be a stud..
- VitriolAndAngst, on 04/10/2008, -3/+2In other words; "It's just you babe -- those other women mean nothing to me."
The other girls mean; safe and attractive.
Actually broadcasting that you fooled around: STDs.
It's all about how attractive a man makes a woman feel. I totally agree with this finding. - mr.gates, on 04/10/2008, -0/+11In other words women are confusing.
- jaycee234jar, on 04/11/2008, -0/+1and just what the hell is so confusing about our sex? i think you hate yourself for not understanding something that is so easy.
- JaredXM, on 04/10/2008, -0/+5So you get to have lots of women around you but you can't have sex with them because if you do there won't be any women around you right?
- timisondigglol, on 04/10/2008, -2/+1Ahh social proof...
- cerejota, on 04/10/2008, -2/+10EPIC RESPONSE, FTW!!!
Some "scientists" forget what "rigor" means. Makes great headlines, but useless pseudo-science.- dafragsta, on 04/10/2008, -2/+1Actually no. You all fail at reading comprehension.
"Participants were also asked to rate faces on how masculine/feminine they looked, and the researchers believe this shows a connection between masculine aspect in men and a tendency to be anyone's after a couple of drinks."
I think that implies that there are two types of women. Slutty women, who'll ***** anyone, and women who seek men who don't appear as studly because they will screw anything.
- dafragsta, on 04/10/2008, -2/+1Actually no. You all fail at reading comprehension.
- fluffythekitten, on 04/10/2008, -3/+1he could still immunize his position the religious way, saying:
"but of course that must have been very unwomanly women, then"- blainer0121, on 04/10/2008, -1/+0 < Peter Griffin > wwwwHAT? < /Peter Griffin>
- duckyinc, on 04/10/2008, -2/+1They don't want a stud for a permanent relationship. (haha you fail)
- MrIcee, on 04/10/2008, -0/+2IHaveCrayons said: "Women don't fancy studs who get lots of sex? So where are the studs getting sex from? Men?"
Yes... it's the hidden gay agenda :) - cambob76, on 04/10/2008, -0/+8They take it? I think we all know that women fall for assholes... macho, overly-assertive, scumbags.
- brundlefly76, on 04/10/2008, -0/+6There was some other study somewhere that showed that women prefer studly men while ovulating, otherwise they like the 'nice' guys.
- TheUngod, on 04/10/2008, -1/+1A guy who's getting lots of sex is probably not broadcasting that he's getting lots of sex to women. Women don't like to hear "aw baby, you're just as special as the other 136 girls before you."
- elint6, on 04/10/2008, -0/+1Wow. Just wow. Logic. Wow.
- div2n, on 04/10/2008, -2/+18My experience is that it's all how women perceive you and, essentially, how you are selling yourself to them.
- stfucupcake, on 04/10/2008, -9/+3no pics = failboat
- AirBallistic, on 04/10/2008, -0/+1look in the link to the abstract in the article, there are pics there.
- Sairynn, on 04/10/2008, -4/+17This seems unlikely.
- Smills, on 04/10/2008, -0/+2Indeed, I really don't like easy women (though obviously the other extreme isn't good either). I would say that these 'rules' are simply observations in a small sample group.
- capainter, on 04/10/2008, -19/+54Get these crappy British stories out of my face.
- petebot, on 04/10/2008, -1/+20You don't fancy them?
- mlostracco, on 04/10/2008, -0/+14Wot? No need to be an arse, mate. Why the aggro, or are you taking the piss? Can't a bloke write about a bird fancying a shag rather than a chat-up without some blinkered tosser bodging-up the comments with a naff load of bollocks? Is the missus too knackered to let you give 'er a good rogering up the tradesman's? Daft *****. Bob's your uncle.
- intekra, on 04/10/2008, -1/+3I need help cleaning the soda I just spit all over my monitor. HAHAHA
- Comms, on 04/10/2008, -1/+1piss off you ***** bellend.
- bosssmiley, on 04/10/2008, -0/+15El Reg's original opening para' was better: "In today's pseudoscience news, the quality press is alive with the findings by UK psych researchers that people can fairly reliably tell how slutty someone is merely by looking at a picture of their face."
- nwelshans, on 04/10/2008, -1/+0precisely. Its great to know a study was produced backing up what most men on the scout already know....you can tell pretty often if a girl is going to put out or not just by looking at them. Not even body language necessarily but it helps if she is slutty looking AND dancing on the poll...
- jp12380, on 04/10/2008, -0/+8Yeah that does not make too much sense. I've seen other studies that suggest women do like those men but usually only when they are fertile.
- sw33tsarin, on 04/10/2008, -4/+3Lies!!!
- jackal42, on 04/10/2008, -1/+10women prefer women?
- AirBallistic, on 04/10/2008, -0/+1you didn't know that before?
- yahoofrom, on 04/11/2008, -0/+1If I were women, I would still prefer women.
- mehgahurtz, on 04/10/2008, -3/+29So, professor, tell me. If women don't fancy studs who get lots of sex, how do they get lots of sex?
/DRTFA- debtman7, on 04/10/2008, -0/+2Presumably, men who are more interested in casual sex are more likely to actually try and have sex with women.
- Ortheos, on 04/11/2008, -0/+2PRESUMABLY, bthe article refers to long term tangible relationships, not one night stands. Or in other words, a life partner who will impregnate the woman and help her raise the children. I agree with this study, the so called 'studs' cycle through girlfriends constantly, have sex every day, but their genes aren't getting passed on to any generation, because their potential offspring are being snuffed by contraceptives.
- ransomduke, on 04/10/2008, -4/+8How do so many Register articles get dugg up? Ridiculous.
- minorthreat, on 04/10/2008, -4/+2I almost dugg you up for spelling ridiculous correct..... almost....
- klasikahl, on 04/10/2008, -0/+5*Correctly
=)

- minorthreat, on 04/10/2008, -4/+2I almost dugg you up for spelling ridiculous correct..... almost....
- XMashedPotatoX, on 04/10/2008, -0/+12If this was true, Digg would be getting way more shimmy than it does.
- nexus37, on 04/10/2008, -0/+3Yeah. Women tell me that all the time. What a bummer.
- spikespikespike, on 04/10/2008, -1/+4On one hand it makes sense that the men who have less sex would presumably be better fathers to their offspring, thus ensuring their survival. On the other hand, men who have a lot of sex may be more virile and also present benefits to their offspring...so...cake?
- scarabic, on 04/10/2008, -0/+2How does having less sex presumably make you a better father?
And how does being virile help your offspring?
- scarabic, on 04/10/2008, -0/+2How does having less sex presumably make you a better father?
- youngfortune, on 04/10/2008, -6/+3i knew the emo look was good for something.......
- minorthreat, on 04/10/2008, -5/+2Everyone is digging you down, but I laughed. So a digg for you sir.
- passedoutghost, on 04/11/2008, -0/+0You are mistaken.
[btw, can I have your address? I'm going to pay you a visit with an axe :D]
- dpazar2, on 04/10/2008, -1/+8"Slags" ahh British vocab
- GREEDOnvrFIRED, on 04/10/2008, -1/+7"Women don't fancy studs who get lots of sex." In other news... No one goes there anymore its too crowded.
- aaronoog, on 04/10/2008, -1/+7*Facepalm*
Guys can like sex and still be honorable. Women want sex with people that don't have sex. That kind of defeats the purpose. Chances are, people who don't have sex aren't going to be the best at it. - scaaven2, on 04/10/2008, -0/+7that description sucked.
- oscenester, on 04/10/2008, -2/+2I call BS. Although, the Skinny Rock star look does pull. But a stud is a stud is a stud. Alphas will always be Alphas
- ATLien74, on 04/10/2008, -0/+6The skinny rockstar is popular, the center of attention, the pack leader...the alpha male... while the roided out jock is the beta male in the front row trying to keep his arms around his girl that's totally eye-***** the skinny rockstar.
- Duntpuff, on 04/10/2008, -1/+14Previous events in my life can prove this is false.
- HurrikaneIvan, on 04/10/2008, -0/+7Oh enough with this science crap! Every chick is different and has different taste! Some like them a certain way! geez..
- aaronoog, on 04/10/2008, -5/+2Women must love catholic priests.
- cubicle, on 04/10/2008, -0/+4But the priests like young boys... bummer...
- Bonksnp, on 04/10/2008, -2/+25Whatever.
I'm so tired of seeing all these studies that claim to have unlocked the "key" to who is attracted to who. Diffrent people are attracted to diffrent people. Plain and simple.
Why don't you researchers put your efforts into something a little more worth while.- Hananda, on 04/10/2008, -1/+1Well, think of it this way. If you were drawing a paycheck to stand around for six months, and then throw together some study in the last week, would you want to actually have to put effort into something? If people did that, labor unions might still be worth something.
- freezerburn666, on 04/10/2008, -2/+11wait a second, if your getting lots of sex, your doing something right. not something wrong.
- EagleEyesMcDigg, on 04/10/2008, -3/+0"...if your getting lots of sex, your doing something TIGHT."
F most of TFY
- EagleEyesMcDigg, on 04/10/2008, -3/+0"...if your getting lots of sex, your doing something TIGHT."
- Hoogs, on 04/10/2008, -1/+5Good news for me at least. Also, why am I not surprised that articles like this always make the front page of Digg?
- mac0Fd00m, on 04/10/2008, -1/+6Buried as inaccurate
- djdedeo0, on 04/10/2008, -6/+4The way I see it the current crop of males being spawned into the world have little to no testostrone. So of course woman don't have a choice but to go for the worthless metrosexuals and boring courdroy wearing dirtbags.
- Avolin, on 04/10/2008, -2/+5You've been analyzing the testosterone levels in the blood of males all over the world every generation? Do tell!
- V01dV01cg, on 04/10/2008, -1/+3maybe true (hormone analogues in water, plastics etc), but women's hormones are changing too
- SpaceMonkeyZero, on 04/10/2008, -0/+4Their mothers are eating too much soy while pregnant... increasing the estrogen to the male fetus...
- bowe, on 04/10/2008, -0/+2Where is the link betwix corduroy and testosterone?
- DigablePlanet, on 04/10/2008, -0/+14"Everything is coming up Millhouse!"
- 1773nium, on 04/10/2008, -1/+3It's a TRAP!
- Radigg, on 04/10/2008, -1/+6the study gets it wrong, most women are attracted to the bad boy!
- Nerotique, on 04/10/2008, -1/+2I believe studies on male dominance hierarchy, female networks, and extra-pair sex proved this article wrong a long time ago. Buried as inaccurate.
- bowe, on 04/10/2008, -0/+1or this article proved them wrong...
- Nerotique, on 04/11/2008, -0/+0That's doubtful. See DH, FN, and EPS are all based on something called science. This article is based on *****. See the difference?
- bowe, on 04/10/2008, -0/+1or this article proved them wrong...
- Millsee, on 04/10/2008, -9/+4Crappy British stories? I've got one:
One upon a time there was a big young country that during the 1940's helped a small island on the other side of a big blue ocean.
It was a real shame because the small island then had to put up with the big country's foolish big-headed antics for years to come, and it was pulled along like a dog on a leash, kicking and yelping.
The end.- Price, on 04/10/2008, -2/+3You're right... That was a ***** story.
- scarabic, on 04/10/2008, -3/+1I don't understand this last part. The two sentences seem to contradict each other:
"In other words, manly men are easy, and women don't like that."
OKAY. MANLY == EASY == BAD
"Androgenisation in men is related to less restricted sexual behaviour... women are averse to unrestricted men."
ANDROGYNY == LESS RESTRICTED == BAD
So are manly men or girly men more attractive? This makes it sound like they're both bad.- mofw, on 04/10/2008, -1/+3Androgenisation and androgyny are two different things.
to use your formula(without CAPS): Androgenisation == manly
http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/Androgeniza ...
- mofw, on 04/10/2008, -1/+3Androgenisation and androgyny are two different things.
- TubeDigger, on 04/10/2008, -3/+1 When i was going to college i was getting lots of tail but some of the girls i really wanted were put off by that (although some came around eventually). i got a slutty name for myself and although i was getting girls it wasnt the right ones, just the ones who wanted a good pump and dump. now that moved and put out less (but still do it very well) i have more quality selection.
- gryphon50, on 04/11/2008, -1/+2I think you have hit it right on the head. If you try to sleep with everyone, you will get sluts but you will have killed your chances for the normal chicks, if that is what you prefer.
- vernacularninja, on 04/10/2008, -1/+11So why are women always dating douche bags?
- rinote, on 04/10/2008, -1/+1The secret is to pop four collars.
- vernacularninja, on 04/11/2008, -0/+1holla, holla pop that colla... man who ever thought that was keen fashion sense needs to placed on a deserted island.
- bowe, on 04/10/2008, -0/+2Lack of available options. Douchebags always make themselves available, it's their calling.
- rinote, on 04/10/2008, -1/+1The secret is to pop four collars.
- hipswiggle, on 04/10/2008, -1/+6The experiment wasn't performed properly. Have the female participants consume 3-5 alcoholic beverages (or better yet, tell them the drinks contain alcohol when they really don't) and ask them to fill out the same questionaire.
- capainter, on 04/10/2008, -3/+1Uhh, if there's one drug (that I would take, at least) that you can tell whether or not you're getting a placebo, its booze.
- Testiculese, on 04/10/2008, -0/+4You'd be surprised, do some searching, there's are several stories, one that I recall is a frat house hosted a kegger, but the kegger was O'Douls or something non-alcoholoc, and people still got wasted, because they were conditioned for it. (Although those that were passed out were probably drinking something else, or somewhere else)
- bluesatin, on 04/10/2008, -0/+3If I remember correctly they did research on how quickly people started reacting to alchohol consumption. From when you start drinking I think it took around 30 minutes to enter your bloodstream, but people were acting more relaxed and like they were under the effects of alchohol in less than 10 minutes.
The placebo effect can be quite powerful it seems!- Testiculese, on 04/11/2008, -0/+1Takes a lot less than 30 minutes. I always drink my first beer in less than 10 minutes, and I feel it by the time I finish it. If I take a shot of SoCo, I feel it in as little as 10 minutes. Metabolism, food intake, exercise level and weight all have to do with how fast you feel the effects of alcohol.
- capainter, on 04/10/2008, -3/+1Uhh, if there's one drug (that I would take, at least) that you can tell whether or not you're getting a placebo, its booze.
- Kenzan, on 04/10/2008, -1/+7This is *****.
- RationalXubrnce, on 04/10/2008, -1/+6 All this means is that women lie and tell researchers they don't like those kinds of men, then they go out and bang them and keep it to themselves.
- JesusHatesYou, on 04/10/2008, -4/+12Women also like to be treated like garbage by men. I thought it was a myth, but it's true.
- TheSexyGeek, on 04/10/2008, -3/+6True. When I look back on the women who fell for me the hardest, it was usually the ones that I didn't lavish with kindness. Those that I did spoil became controlling psychpaths. Apparently some women don't know how to behave when treated like a lady.
So i treat them like sluts who look like ladies. - coustoe, on 04/11/2008, -2/+1so tru
You treat them nice and they think you want to jump in their pants, but you treat them like crap and they can't get themselves off you
- TheSexyGeek, on 04/10/2008, -3/+6True. When I look back on the women who fell for me the hardest, it was usually the ones that I didn't lavish with kindness. Those that I did spoil became controlling psychpaths. Apparently some women don't know how to behave when treated like a lady.
- springboks, on 04/10/2008, -1/+4This story directly contradicts todays story on the woman who had sex with 50 diffrent men. [http://digg.com/tech_news/Facebook_sex_addict_slep ...
This article also has 716 Diggs compared to the 251 diggs from this story.- SpaceMonkeyZero, on 04/10/2008, -1/+4Well, she met them on facebook, so they must have been 50 androgynous girly men.
- Toxigen, on 04/11/2008, -1/+1diffrent
Nope spell checker definitely thinks different is not spelled like that.
- kazolar, on 04/10/2008, -3/+1Ok, this is the register -- UK version of the enquirer, how this makes the front page?
- dbsmoker, on 04/10/2008, -1/+3I'm living proof that this isn't true. :(
- AirBallistic, on 04/10/2008, -1/+2So women like feminine faces on men?
- TheCatsPants, on 04/11/2008, -0/+1Leonardo Di Caprio as a "heart throb" is proof of that.
- LuckyNYC, on 04/10/2008, -1/+8The problem with this experiment is that what women say and what women actually do are typically usually two completely different things.
- designerutah, on 04/10/2008, -0/+1Do they EVER correlate?
- bobbob1016, on 04/10/2008, -1/+1This doesn't make sense. Women must like men who get lots of sex, because they get lots of sex. The only other way is if these guys are having sex with each other and not women.
- TheSexyGeek, on 04/10/2008, -0/+1Exactly. If the guys are getting lots of nookie, and the women in the study don't want them, they're asking the wrong women.
- bowe, on 04/10/2008, -0/+1What about this theory, the guys claiming they are having lots of sex do so because they want to put out the image that they are a player, but in reality aren't getting any?
- ktk1336, on 04/10/2008, -1/+2Speaking as a woman - I can say that I find different types of men attractive depending on the circumstances.
If I'm looking for a NSA, one time fling, a "studly" guy is definitely attractive.
If I'm looking for a LTR, one on one, committed relationship, the most studly guy is usually not my first choice. In a situation like that, I'm looking for someone who would likely not cheat.- coustoe, on 04/11/2008, -2/+1*cough* Bullcrap
unless your below a 8/10
- coustoe, on 04/11/2008, -2/+1*cough* Bullcrap
- Princeamor, on 04/10/2008, -1/+3This isn't true.. women might say this because they wish they were attracted to a nice guy but the truth is they more often than not end up sleeping with the stud.
- Austin7687, on 04/10/2008, -0/+3Does that means that all women are attracted to that myspace moron posted the other day?
- designerutah, on 04/10/2008, -1/+2All part of the on-going myth women perpetuate among themselves. They SAY they want a loving, caring, non-cheating man rather than a studly, domineering, take charge kind of guy. Until the take charge guy takes charge... then they're his. The nice guy is the one they turn to in order to pay the bills, support the child raising. The stud is the one they get wild for, lose their inhibitions for, and secretly get moist over! They just don't like to admit they want a no-holds barred intense erotic time. It's not ladylike... and therefore BAD.
- baconz, on 04/10/2008, -1/+2How people answer a questionnaire is entirely different than how they act in real life.
