- acarico, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1My dad taught alot of those astronauts how to take those pictures
- linuxmatt, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I worked for a couple summers at Glenn Research Center, and found this back then (or a similar repository on the internal web). I was happy to see such high resolution in the images. Browse by center and check out the GRC one if you want to see some wind tunnel deliciousness or the one for Ames if you wanna see some neat Crays. NASA is one of the best things that government has done for science in the US; it's truly depressing to see it's funding/support going down the tubes. Support NASA!!
- jonny5, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0if only the UK's space organisation was as well funded and organsised as NASA, as its pretty much non-existent at the moment...
- artofluke, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1AHAH! Notice how on the reflection in his visor that you can't see any STARS!
What is space full of? STARS!
The moonwalk is FAKE just like the so called moon landing! - ZerozenOnes, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I particularly liked the moonwalk photos. They are so odd, they look and feel antique yet they represent our grandest achievement. I think I'm gonna get nice prints out of some of those... Nice digg.
- Solo81, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0that's true. you can see the wire at the top. But what strikes me as weird is how to rest of the flag is waving...
- Dispersion, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0They should put a picture of Buzz Aldrin punching that guy in the face.
- christophersisk, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Very nice.
- Marcelo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"Foing told SPACE.com that the SMART-1 orbiter circling the Moon has already covered the Apollo 11, 16, 17 landing sites, as well as spots where the former Soviet Union’s Luna 16 and Luna 20 automated vehicles plopped down. The images have not yet been released."
The images haven't been released yet...so I'm still left wondering. I mean, the flag is waving as if there is atmosphere on the moon, yet the moon has no atmosphere.
I'm still left wondering... - mandolinsrock, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I read somewhere that the flag had a bar through the top of it to hold it up, otherwise it would just flop down.
- stray, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Great article. Diggity, diggity!
jonny5: Ever hear Eddie Izzard's take on the British space initiative? (Go to http://www.auntiemomo.com/cakeordeath/d2ktranscription.html#moonmonsters and scroll up a bit.) - Marcelo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0http://www.space.com/missionlaunches/050304_moon_snoop.html
found it - Marcelo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0you have a link powercow? i mean, they did leave an american flag there didn't they? why not just fly a probe by it and take some photos...or even better, if their landing site is visible from earth why not just point a nice big telescope that way and shoot some pictures.
- EdLesMann, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0artofluke, if you had ever studied physics you would know a little about the reflective nature of light. Simply put a light source does not reflect itself perfectly (alot more to it then that, in fact i am probably not even giving proper justice to the theory, but i dont care to elaborate further).
If you had studied photography you would know light sources are not always visable in the photos (esp if you do them right).
Think about it, they take pictures of models in glasses all the time with light sources MUCH closer (and therefore brighter on the subject), and you dont see reflections in their glasses...
If you are going to get all paranoid and goverment-is-after-me-and-fakes-moon-landings at least be intellegent enough to have done some research to back your claims.... - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0a european probe recently took high res pictures of the apollo landing sites.. supposidly putting an end to all this nonscence..
also stars can be very hard to photgraph reflected or not..especially when there is competing light sources..they werenot trying to get a picture of the sky otherwise they would have adjusted there equipment and turned out the lights. - forceflow, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0old
- slhilbert, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0The moon landing was fake?!?!?!?!?!!?!? What are you talking about artofluke?
