He is in no place to create a book on theoretical physics (10 dimensions deals with superstring theory, to be more precise), and furthermore, cannot possibly describe ten dimensions accurately.

    First off, if there are ten dimensions in our universe (most current string theory research suggests there are actually 11 dimensions), then only one of them (as we know it), is a temporal dimension. That is, it is time. The other nine (or ten), as suggested by superstring theory, are spacial dimensions. That is, they are similar to left/right/up/down/forward/back. The only difference is that they are so tiny, they are curled up into complex multi-dimensional shapes, and on our scale, we can't observe them. Their effects however, describe the basic workings of our universe.

    So when this guy talks about a dimension being a fold, or line, or etc, etc; or perhaps one dimension being every possible time line of every possible universe, think twice. This is a crap explanation, and really shouldn't be considered in any way an accurate description of our universe. Entertaining? Yes. Correct? No.

  • spiderwing, on 12/02/2008, -4/+47Actually, the spatial fold is a good way to describe higher dimensions (the moebius strip is right on). It's conflating the spatial dimensions with the strong Copenhagen model of quantum theory that messes everything up.

    There are many versions of string theory, including one model with two temporal axis.

    Lisa Randall also came up with a workable model of higher dimensions with infinite size, but where branes interact with gravitons. Once the LHC gets up and running, that particular model can be tested.

Megan then proceeded take you into the mouth of the sleeping trex, the filthy rotting flesh cavern it was, surrounded by massive teeth and warm, damp, dank air... where she made long passionate love to you on the tounge of the sleeping beast in a flurry of saliva and decaying flesh, surrounded by a cage of unforgiving teeth. Needless to say, she came multiple times.
