- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+78The coin trick is done by palming the coin. As for the saltshaker: The table is rigged with a sliding glass top with a hole in it (the glass extends into the section of the table to the magician's left). The three women at the table with him are accomplices (the real "live" audience is the other people in the restaurant, a safe distance away). The other objects on the glass (cigarette box, cup and saucer) are mounted in such a way that they won't move with the sliding glass, reinforcing the illusion. Watch his left hand and listen carefully between 2:20 and 2:30 on the clip--he's sliding the glass so that the hole (hidden under his left palm) moves to the center of the table. After he pulls the saltshaker through, the hole is quickly slid back into its hiding place, passing surreptitiously under his left arm. Very impressively pulled off, but he's not Kitty Pryde's long-lost cousin. Anyway, did anyone notice Jimmie Walker in the talk show panel (in the P-in-P) watching the trick?
- birdadderley, on 10/12/2007, -2/+57yah ok.. so where the ***** did he hide the salt shaker
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+15You only need one hole, really, and one pane of glass--take a look at the table: there's a "solid wood" section to the magician's left. The pane of glass actually extends into that section, and the hole is tucked just out of sight in that section before the trick. Again, watch his hand at 2:20. As he's doing the trick, a portion of the glass is sticking into the section to the right of the magician (between the other two girls at the table)--my guess is that if someone were looking intently there during the trick, they'd see the movable pane slide underneath the existing pane, but obviously no-one's looking there, as they're watching the trick.
It's not on this video, but on longer versions of it, the magician actually does another trick after this, involving a coin and the other two girls, resulting in the coin "magically" being stuck in the glass (when in fact it's sandwiched between the two panes). - grizwald, on 10/12/2007, -3/+7I, for one, welcome our new magical Japanese masters.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Here's that Mindfreak guy doing a similar trick (on a bigger, but consequently less impressive, scale): http://media.putfile.com/mindfreak-throughtheglass0-6500/480 . In this case, the hidden hole is below the windowsill, and the glass slides up.
- angelwspr, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5ooooh... magicians get all the chicks... ;p
- battlecat, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4"yah ok.. so where the ***** did he hide the salt shaker"
I like your style - TheBigBoss, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3well, you should watch the rest of the clip. Then see if you still know how he does it.
- leep80, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Well the coin was probably picked up by his ring; and the new one was introduced was probably hiding under his extremely thick watch band... Notice that after dropping the coin he flipped it so that it would have the right side facing up...
As for the salt shaker, that one is beyond me. - luftrofl, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3"illusionist" and "proves" should not be used in the same sentence in such a manner.
- mushoo, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3"I have seen this a billion times but i still love to watch it, me and my friend kyle decided that he hax the matrix, thats how he can do it."
Well you and your friend Kyle are obviously morons.
Eveyone know that in order to do magic tricks you have to hack gibsons. - nymphetamine, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2oh, those gullible japanese!
- Spathiinc, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Gob: 'Illusion,' Michael. A 'trick' is something a whore does for money... or candy!
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Other than sounding cool, another reason he uses English phrases is, well...he isn't Japanese.
- manfesto, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Yeah, this should be under links, but this guy is one damn good magician. I haven't seen an illusionist with such showmanship in a while - and a trick that most couldn't figure out if they were to simply sit down and think about it.
@birdadderley
Well done. Best comment EVER. - Drood, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4It's not done by sliding the glass. It's done the same way Blaine, Copperfield etc... Do their magic. By channeling the power of Satan.
The clue is in the post here. "2 DEMONstations"...
So you're all wrong. - ZekeG4, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1wow! you have to watch the whole clip to see how good he is...
- spyhunter, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1The thing with him jumping into the suitcase is completely lame. It's obvious there was some serious editing going on there. Notice the convenient camera cuts just before the suitcase is opened and again just after he jumps into it. Also notice that the live audience isn't visible while the trick is actually being performed, and the briefcase doesn't move.
The trick the live audience saw was probably less impressive, and the one suitcase-jumping shot was re-filmed later with a completely prepared setup using a giant hole in the wall concealed behind the briefcase guy (who was probably lying down on a shelf at chest level, with only his upper body sticking out through the hole). - KidVicious, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"Actually, based on his accents, his English is much better than his Japanese..."
Yeah I noticed that too, he's definitely not native Japanese. That guy's my hero just because he can speak so fluently with such a good accent, when he appears to be a native English speaker.
"That wasn't Jimmy Walker. He is a well known guy in Japan named "Bobby": (his last name escpaes me) from Africa"
Yeah, I saw that guy on Japanese TV, on a show with this guy, I think his name was Aichi. He speaks fluent Japanese too. It's weird, there are so many Africans in Japan I never would have guessed. - arch119, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1His name is Cyril (born to Japanese father and French/Moroccan mother) and is pretty popular here in Japan.

here's a more full video of the glass:
http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=4228721012746755272&q=japanese+magician - sudoman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1the coin trick uses magnetism.
when he waves his hand, he exchanges the coin for a magnetic coin pair, one on top, one on the bottom. when the camera zooms in, you can see the other coin! then he peels one away and removes it, leaving the one that was on the bottom. you can see him disengage the top coin by sliding his hands apart a bit. - Riotblade, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Criss Angel did the same thing in one of the episodes of "Mind Freak" at the jewelers. The only difference is that he didnt have the object covered when it "went through" glass.
すごい じゃ ない - lazza, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1if you watch the vid at 3:31-3.33 you can see what looks like smoke or a reflection of smoke near the bottom of the salt shaker, this could be something too.
- theonlybigboss, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2I have seen this a billion times but i still love to watch it, me and my friend kyle decided that he hax the matrix, thats how he can do it
- über, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"yah ok.. so where the ***** did he hide the salt shaker"
I can't stop laughing.... - samk, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"Its not the same, hes just trying to seem smart and cool by dropping a few English phrases, I bet!"
Actually, based on his accents, his English is much better than his Japanese... - imightbewrong, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0damn....
- Kalvascorp, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0You guys need to turn your volume up. You can actually hear the glass slide half-way when the girl knocks the shaker on the bottom of the table and his hand pushes the glass a little to the right. You can hear it slide again when he moves his hand the rest of the way. Finally, you can hear it slide just after he lifts away the salt shaker and see the reflection of something in the background on the table appear as the hole slides away.
- shoei, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0blew my mind...crazy!
- Nocturnal, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0信じられないな〜。無理だろう!
WTF nice virus. - _skin_, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0信じられないな〜。無理だろう!
Ha! Me too... - Xophmeister, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0In the first trick, it seems quite obvious that his ring is the key. Notice the first time he places his hand over the coin, he does so with no particular consideration; the second time, he quite deliberately places the ring over it. Maybe a magnetic coin, ring, etc. and his second hand has an identical copy hidden out of sight.
As for the second trick, I would suggest he invokes the spirits that lie dormant within that coffee table - maybe enticing them with the prospect of fame, glory and honour. - calmconviction, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0addition:
it is in fact condensation. look at 0:47-0:48 and 2:05-2:14. its very visible there. also, right on top of the wood panel is a glass with approx the same diameter filled with liquid, presumably cold. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I'm getting me that table.
- haochi, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0This is goddamn cool.
Someone should teach me how to do it. - Namingishard, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0errrr watch mind freak youll see the same trick, yes i said trick, and guess what, no hand passing over, Atleast its to fast for you to see
- Neronix, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0キタ━━━━━━(゚∀゚)━━━━━━ !!!!!
- awwwmang, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Ok elev8 its fake we all know that. But the planning and techniqe to follow through and execute the trick is just worth looking at it alone. you have to be smart to pull off illusions of that calibur.
- Play, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Flames are bad, mmkay?
Anyway, good use of slight of hand. He wins. - ptknight, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0The second blew my mind away!!! Fantastic!
- eilorux, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Take a look at the second video on the page:http://www.jokaroo.com/extremevideos/stunningillusion2.html
- kevcoles, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Thats awesome... if only I could do it...
- NeilM, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Cool trick.
- MazeBot, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0It is magic, there is no need to know how it is supposed to work, its just meant for entertainment, and i was entertained, although, being human i would like to know what is going on around me, how on earth he was able to hide it so well.
- blt93932, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Physics does actually allow for one solid substance to diffuse through another. The problem is that it takes years for solids to go through solids.
- RMuffin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Very cool. Wish I could do somthing like that...
I DO know David Blaine levatation trick but that's it...
"yah ok.. so where the ***** did he hide the salt shaker"
Best comment ever. - LoPhatt, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I've seen these before... Everybody in the room was in on it, all for the camera. The only explanation is trick photography. It is done well, but you guys are smarter than that. You should not be leave everything you see. You've been punked!!
- eean, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Really magic doesn't work on TV. I think everyone picking this trick apart proves that.
Table magic when I see it in person is just fun though (if the props get too big it becomes harder and harder to go along with the illusion). - ptknight, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0@lophatt
"You've been punked!!"
yeah, and I liked it! -
