No, I don't see a cure for anything anytime soon."
Why create a cure when you can make drugs and sell them over and over again! - TerrenceLP, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1You must have not ever lost a loved one to cancer, I have and the truth is anything is good news. Cancer will never be cured simply because the world we live in. Tons of all kinds of waves are flying through the air at all times and thus flying through your body, nature never intended that to be. Just ask the poor folk that live next to cell towers or power plants!
- amitrix, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1good read.
- randylovin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1If cancer played Starcraft, it would play the Zerg.

Mutations in one being, and spreading due to that one being mating with another. - xbmcrules, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Koolio

- Sturmur, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0You guys are so cool. You make witty and childish comments out of all things... cancer.
Nice job. - molecool, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Excellent news - in case most of you 'non-geeks' haven't figured this out yet: this could spell the end of chemo-therapy as we know it. In most cases (except brain tumor I think) it's not that first detected cancer that kills you - it's the cancer spreading through your entire body. I can't believe I'm the first one to figure this out here.... back to slashdot to see some intelligent comments there.
- theenginedriver, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Has anyone found any published material on this other than from MSNBC or Reuter's? I'd like to see a paper, if there is one.
- carguy84, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"That was definatly AID's, not cancer."
yiiiiiiiiikes.
Too bad theres no cure for a lack of a sense of humor.... - Stickboy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0great news ...
Digg ...
http://www.lymphomaniacs.org/scase/ - theenginedriver, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0The involvement of bone marrow precursors as a growth platform is new. Metastasis is not new, but the problem with cancer is that there are so many different kinds, and the places they spread are not necessarily intuitive (i.e. downstream of the tumor location). If one single cell line were involved in the proliferation of all cancer types...it would be a huge discovery.
- svloco, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0The sad truth is all of you will have some form of cancer, whether major or minor by the time you die.
- theenginedriver, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Here's a link to a related paper published in Nature.
hxxp://www.nature.com/nm/journal/v7/n11/full/nm1101-1194.html - wavesmash, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0That juice man guy with the big eyebrows discovered a cure for cancer years ago.. old news but dugg anyway...
- mer569, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I am a breast cancer survivor...4 years! So.......dugg!
- TheDecn, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0crapiolo is right, this is super-old news. My wife is a PhD cancer researcher and her work for the last 3 years has been focused in this area. She is looking at how to affect the tumor "micro-environment" and what kind of cell-signaling goes on to cause other cells such as "adult stem-cells" to go to these sites and prepare them for cancer growth. It's crazy...the body essentialy sets itself up for growing these tumors that eventually cause its death. The problem is these same signals also result in healthy tissue growth, things like repairing damage due to injury or disease. So developing drugs to block this process is tricky, because they would also block the necessary processes.
- stonebear, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Very encouraging news! Dugg.
- 12340987, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0have you ever tried to cure cancer? It's hard.
- superal1394, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0"Some guy in africa slept with a monkey"
That was definatly AID's, not cancer. - Billistic, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Sorry guys, it's just that I have cancer, so it's a hard topic for me.
- _Simplistic_, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0You all have cancer.
- stokestack, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Pretty cool.
But we all know cancer is caused on purpose, thanks to Intelligent Design. - crapiolio, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Are you kidding me, this is "olds", not news... Scientist know how cancer spread a couple of years ago, the title is misleading. Maybe more is known in this field... If WW2 didn't happen, we might have found the cure for cancer, who knows.
- bondg, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0@pivo --
1) Satan is a mythical creature, as is God.
2) If you choose to believe said myths, Satan is not capable of creation. Only destruction. - samfrench, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0How did deseases ever come to be?
- Billistic, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Man, talk to me when they have a cure
AND NOW A "CURE 5 YEARS DOWN THE ROAD, BECAUSE IT'S BEEN MORE THAN FIVE YEAR AN I AIN'T HEARD NO CURE" - Bostonsox, on 10/12/2007, -3/+0I heard its spread to the people god hates, so believe in god and send money or he will give you cancer.
