"Red Bull (80 mg per 8.3 oz)"
WTF? So the USFDA shouldn't be allowing Red Bull? Or am I missing something here? - emaf37, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4No digg, rockstar isn't on the list. M/
- Squeegee, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Didn't see "Rockstar" listed at all.. :(
- serra, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2I about literally gave myself a heart attack with a "Yellow Jacket" pill. I have a high heart rate to begin with, and it was beating at probably 140 a minute for a few hours. Seriously, I was scared and went to the hospital.

This category "Abused Drugs" is filtered. - theLimit, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"The U.S. Food & Drug Administration allows a maximum of 72 mg. of caffeine per 12 oz. serving (6mg / oz)"
AFAIK the FDA has never regulated the amount of caffeine in foods. Actually, according to the Food Additive Status List for Oct 2005, caffeine is rated as MISC,GRAS. A miscellaneous effect food additive generally recognized as safe. GRAS substances have no quantitative restrictions as to use. Although the listing for caffeine carries the addendum "0.02% - Cola-type beverages" - Jammerdelray, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0yummy...I love red bull...drink one down and your wide awake with no ill effects. the breakfast of gaming champions :P
- denied, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Didn't think anyone else drank Monster, my fave too.
I usually get my 6x shot of espresso before work, so long as you can stomach it that much caffiene is like rocket fuel! - zarlwilliam, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0So what drink does everyone thinks gives THE MOST and BEST overall energy?
As stated above caffeine alone isn't everything. D-Ribose, Ginseng, Guarana, Taurine etc etc all factor in this as well.
anyone remember the caff. drink ratin kevin and alex did on TSS awhile ago? There were some funky names with a TON of caffeine but i'm sure they lacked these other ingredients.. but perhaps theres some good ones in there.
So yeah.. whats the best? Any health freaks know about these other ingredients besides caffeine that may help us with the decision? - shuffles, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"What? No Monster? No digg."
My sentiments exactly - it is the quintessential energy drink of our times. No Digg - etruscan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"Congrats to all the tards paying 10 TIMES the amount for a bottle of sugar water with the same caffeine content as coffee."
The real fear of Red Bull or Monster or Sobe Arush is when you mix it with Vodka or some other mixer-friendly alcohol. That's when it becomes potent. That's also something you shouldn't do with coffee... unless you've got really strange tastes. - spikebuddy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0No digg. Some stuff not on the list.
- Marfanity, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Why is everyone on digg so obsessed with caffeine? Try cocaine. It doesn't stain your teeth.
- Trjn, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"Red Bull, 115mg, = $2.00
cup of coffee, 115 mg, = 20 cents
Congrats to all the tards paying 10 TIMES the amount for a bottle of sugar water with the same caffeine content as coffee."
A decent cup of coffee from a chain coffee store or cafe costs about the same as a Red Bull/any other energy drink here. Only if it's home made, but there is the whole chilled vs hot issue as well. Not to mention the whole issue of individual taste. - Boscolio, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Stupid website - chocolate doesn't have caffeine. It has a similar stimulant called theobromine.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Theobromine - superspak, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0no rockstar!!! wth that is the best energy drink IMO
- Trjn, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Okay, looks like the people who were marketing Wild NRG lied to me, they said it was stronger than Red Bull. . . but its only 113.5mg compared to 115.5mg
And V (my drink of choice) is about 110mg.
I just remembered that I can get google to do the conversion for me. - saysaknow, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0What chart? All I see is an LSD survey. Oh wait, scroll down.
- pemdasi, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0What this list doesn't take into consideration are the effects of the other stimulants and extracts in energy drinks. Something to think about perhaps.
- navtiidia, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0whats in the conserta i take?
- th3dougler, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0this list is incomprehensive, there are like 3 different kinds of Jolt cola, they simply didnt list
-ROckstar -LiquidSpeed
-Lost -Energize Caffiene Pills
-red rain -WANT drink
-Red Rave -Mountain Dew Energy???
-Buzzwater -Hype
-Stinger -HypeGold
-Monster (MY Favourite)
and this is only what comes to mind right now
i think im an addict :( - ThomasNewman1, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Where's the new Mountain Dew MDX? BTW, Red Bull isn't a "botteled" beverage. ITS CANNED!
- Nullifidian, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Bawls was listed look again.
The mistake everyone seems to make with energy drinks is chugging them down to quick. Your body can only process so much caffine at a time. - 2ndDairy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1No Monster, no Rockstar; no digg.
Plus caffeine isn't the only ingredient that matters in energy drinks. - ziffel, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Red Bull, 115mg, = $2.00
cup of coffee, 115 mg, = 20 cents
Congrats to all the tards paying 10 TIMES the amount for a bottle of sugar water with the same caffeine content as coffee. - Mantus, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0speaking of which, my proxy at work is blocking the link to this site 'cause it thinks it's drug-related. weak!
- Trjn, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Of the actual energy drinks on that list, I think the only one that Australia gets is Red Bull, which we all knows tastes *****.
Personally, I'd like to know how the drinks we get over here stack up.
V, V Black, Wild NRG, the random terrible tasting ones with grape flavouring and the like.
Time to hit v-energydrink.com and see if they have info on this.
31mg per 100ml in V and V Black
32mg per 100ml in Wild NRG
I don't know exactly how to convert that because metric to imperial conversions are not something to contemplate right before going to bed. - covrigel, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1What about Monster drinks?
- armaros, on 10/11/2007, -0/+0The FDA has a 72mg caffiene per serving limit for BEVERAGES. energy drinks bypass this restriction by calling their products "supplements" etc.
- zarlwilliam, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I believe i found it...
http://www.energyfiend.com/2005/10/quite-possibly-the-most-powerful-energy-drink-ever#more-52
wow.. - tehLazyPirate, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0i had 7 redbulls last night... and one this morning... sadly it seem to be one of the only energy drinks i can get in my area (besides amp, which i like, but not as much as redbull anymore)
- sudoman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0what about tylonol extra strenght? i was told by someone that that had caffeine.
- Zippo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I love how, in Canada, Mountain Dew has no caffeine... so they released a second Mountain Dew, with the same caffeine content as the American version, and called it "Mountain Dew ENERGY"
- nuxx, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0energyfiend.com rox!
props to erowid though...been visiting that site for years now. - TorontoTed, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Monster is 170mg in Canada. Monster is easily the most potent energy drink. NO MONSTER NO DIGG
- Funkly, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0no digg.. lame list of soda.. and red bull.. no energy drinks other than that...
- DrAtomicus, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I like a RedBull in the morning, rather than coffee. Everyone always harshes on me about the massive amount of caffeine I'm drinking. Now I can prove my argument that their Grande Americano has so much more caffeine, by a long shot. Dugg.
- Funkly, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0wow that vpx redline stuff is crazy!! is it stil on the market?
- MrZaiko, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0http://www.energyfiend.com/the-caffeine-database/
This is the best list I have found, IT updates everytime a new drink comes out - a1programmer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Does anyone know how much caffeine chocolate contains?
Java is awesome. - petestv, on 02/19/2009, -0/+0I drink a lot of caffeine and that works, theres a story at http://www.medicalsupplyservices.com/blog/
- blackbeltbjj, on 06/05/2008, -0/+0As a rule a lot of energy supplements are the same. Stacker 2, Rockstar, Xenergy and Red Bull all mostly have the same ingredients.
I think the major thing people want to look for is value. Meaning of the compounds in each pill who gives me the most value for my dollar. I found a comparison chart of some popular brands on this blog: http://www.bstingenergy.com/v/vspfiles/blog/2008/0 ...
Beyond that there are a few pills out on the market that have a dual purpose such as energy and fat burning. So maybe something like that may fill someones needs better than something else. - theseamonkey, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"blah blah red bull, blah blah blah blah coffee"
but a lot of people DONT like coffee, it taste like crap.
plus, starbucks cost ALOT more than red bull mind you. - debthound, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Try to get yourself some Visoda. It's available in stores around Oregon. You can also order it from their website.
Health energy drink 300mg Caff
45g Organic Cane Juice Extract
All the vitamins (like box of total cereal - 100% everything). - wilf_brim, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Did anybody else notice that the diet soft drinks have more caffeine than their regular counterparts? Diet Coke has 45 mg of caffeine per 12 oz, while Coke Classic only has 34. Very interesting, someting I didn't know (he says as he guzzles more Diet Coke).
- aquax, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"The real fear of Red Bull or Monster or Sobe Arush is when you mix it with Vodka or some other mixer-friendly alcohol. That's when it becomes potent. That's also something you shouldn't do with coffee... unless you've got really strange tastes."
Really strange tastes? Irish Coffee has been around for ages, and is quite good, in fact. - etruscan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0BTW: Here's a database which has Rockstar (150mg/16oz) and Monster (140mg/16oz)... and probably some of the others that people are looking for.
http://www.energyfiend.com/the-caffeine-database/ - riddler, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0if you want to see which energy drinks are best check out http://www.bandddesigns.com/energy
- Pannen, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I find it quite unusual that Pepsi One has 55.0 mg/g (whatever) and regular Pepsi has 38.4 ... I guess that is how they boost the loss of those calories .. ??
