- jclj2005, on 01/02/2009, -3/+112well its nice to see something that is made by hand for once
- IHaveIssues, on 01/02/2009, -0/+97You're not alone.
- MrRedneck, on 01/02/2009, -4/+90That's crazy.. I never knew that the countless marbles I lost as a child were all a little piece of handcrafted art..
- dreamytime, on 01/02/2009, -0/+56That is crazy.
Wonder how much he makes for all that work?!? - luke16, on 01/02/2009, -6/+61How BACON is made

thank me later digg.
EDIT: ok, i don't feel like eating bacon anymore... - jayll, on 01/02/2009, -0/+44It's informative and interesting, what the Discovery Channel used to be about. One of my recent favorites is the light bulb and Christmas ornaments.
- SoUpTheEXTREME, on 01/02/2009, -11/+55Interesting.
- melance, on 01/02/2009, -0/+43Better to like a show like "How It's Made" than the reality tv and crime show crap they play on most channels.
- rescu911, on 01/02/2009, -1/+43This article is about making marbles, not losing them.
- turnuon, on 01/02/2009, -0/+42I 've noticed he is NOT Chinese.
- greenlight2001, on 01/02/2009, -0/+3610 small marbles and a really nice breaker marble.
- luke16, on 01/02/2009, -1/+36Gotta love the music they use in these things.
- rivalius13, on 01/02/2009, -0/+29That's because of speculators.
- xchrisxsays, on 01/02/2009, -2/+27SUCH a good show to watch when you are stoned.
- nickspohn, on 01/02/2009, -1/+25Glass A response
- DrewPeacock, on 01/02/2009, -5/+28Take just about any Asian made marble and throw it against the floor and it will shatter, while most American made marbles will bounce around like a, a, a bouncy ball or something.
So if you happen to need high quality marbles (you never know), buy American...
EDIT: basically avoid those ***** little cat's eye marbles. - lordsandwich, on 01/02/2009, -0/+21I can only remember a few marbles from my childhood that looked as good as the handmade one. The rest were probably machine-stamped.
- nerdherder, on 01/02/2009, -1/+19You stutter when you type?
- awtripp, on 01/02/2009, -0/+18Did you attempt to watch the video with your eyes closed, too? I found I got more out of it with my eyes open.
- mattwalton56, on 01/02/2009, -0/+16You. Are. Satan.
Because Satan is the only one who could make me NOT want to eat bacon. - 1807, on 01/02/2009, -0/+16THIS IS....Marble Madness?
- borez, on 01/02/2009, -1/+17Pre-cooked bacon... who the hell buys pre-cooked bacon?
- moduc, on 01/02/2009, -1/+16I remember my father used to make around a dollar a day. It's not much better there (this is not China).
So, you'll think that's crazy right? Well, let's think of it this way:
1) We got house, and no tax on the house
2) Water is free from well
3) Almost no medical cost (unless you're sick, then ...)
4) Small electric bill (only for a few years, before that, we just use a few little lamps, cost about a few litters of oil a month).
5) $1 US dollar would be us (5 people) enough food for more than 1 day. We got rice and vegetable though, so just fish, fish source, etc.
6) We travel by bicycle. That gives us a good health (like you exercise an hour a day, how good is that?). So no gas cost, no insurance, etc. I fix the bike myself such as patching the tires (got nail all the time), greasing the ball bearing, line up the wheels.
7) Almost no entertainment, so a radio listening to BBC and VOA (Voice of America). That only costs a few batteries.
Sure, it's a poor life, but it's way better than $1 life in the US, that would make you a homeless, and way worse than above living.
I don't say that country is good or anything like that. I want to point out that people look at the money amount and think it's apple to apple when compared to other countries, and ended up making a huge error on this. - EvilFerret, on 01/02/2009, -5/+19Hmmm hard to keep track with what the minimum wage in China is these days, I believe it's around 10 yuan/hr which is about $1.50
- Coffeedemon, on 01/02/2009, -1/+15Cat's Eyes were always worth more (on the marble exchange index) when I was a lad.
- PrairieDoggin, on 01/02/2009, -4/+18Thanks d2002, that is exactly what I've always wanted to know.
- atm259, on 01/02/2009, -1/+14I love "how it's made."
Although, after watching it for 3 hours straight I feel very unsocial. - Timpala, on 01/02/2009, -0/+13if a marble make must make marbles?
- casbar, on 01/02/2009, -2/+15Man, I can't believe this made the frontpage. My dad makes marbles. Few people handmake them anymore even fewer profit from them. It is an art though.
Anyone interested can check out me pops marbles though: http://www.bartonartglassworks.com/works/index.php ... - jba68, on 01/02/2009, -0/+12The light bulb one was pretty fascinating. I always they thought the little slave gremlins crawled up in the bulb and built everthing.
boy, was I wrong. - farfromsubtl, on 01/02/2009, -2/+13Canadian made TV FTW.
- EricAnderton, on 01/02/2009, -1/+12Sphere-ly, with wit like that, you really must get a-round.
- joeribs, on 01/02/2009, -1/+12Loving the music there.
- csimpkins, on 01/02/2009, -1/+12Madness.
- EvilFerret, on 01/02/2009, -0/+10It's actually not *that* bad. It's still bacon and great for when you're too drunk to fry or bake your own.
- drgmdp, on 01/02/2009, -1/+11but you have issues :(
- thesonofdarwin, on 01/02/2009, -0/+10No. What's sad is that I was upset when they replaced the narrator. It's not the same.
- rescu911, on 01/02/2009, -0/+10Moon Marbles in Kansas City, MO has a little shop in the back complete with bleachers where they do a fifteen minute marble-making demonstration. Very cool to see how they make customized marbles. There's some examples here: http://www.moonmarble.com/c-33-handmade-marbles.as ...
- Gr00ver, on 01/02/2009, -0/+10Dugg for 'How It's Made'.
- zhenya80, on 01/02/2009, -0/+9How many marbles does a marble maker make
- DrewPeacock, on 01/02/2009, -0/+9You should see my ascii art.
- borez, on 01/02/2009, -0/+9And very nice they are too.
- inferno10, on 01/02/2009, -1/+10When I grow up, I'm going to Bovine University!
- casbar, on 01/02/2009, -0/+9Thanks! My Dad and brothers are all very artistic. All I know how to do is use the internet.
- Coffeedemon, on 01/02/2009, -0/+8True, if anything the uniform colour made them look better and you could get 3:1 return for winning a game with cats eyes as opposed to regular marbles. This was probably 1986 though. You could always do better if you had a few of the 'marbles' from inside spray paint cans. Likely due to the effort involved in extracting them.
/misses playing marbles. - FXNGLAS, on 01/02/2009, -0/+8Same here!
- yairagat, on 01/02/2009, -2/+10Im losing my marbles!
- elitedw, on 01/02/2009, -0/+7Thank you, that was very insightful...
mmmm bacon.... drool. -
