http://www.thinkgeek.com/geektoys/science/6fd6/
While that clear gel was developed by nasa, for ants, these pictures are most definitely of this toy... in their living room.
I know because I have one on top of my TV. - shaun3000, on 11/09/2009, -2/+65Am I missing something? These are pictures of an ant farm.
- Neolite, on 11/09/2009, -3/+54I'm Ron Burgundy?
- sanman, on 11/09/2009, -4/+50how is ant babby formed?

wait until someone shows him a slinky
"Oh God! The spring which moves down the stairs, alone or in pairs, with a beautiful slinkety sound it is making!"
let's not even tell him about Sea Monkees... - Robozilla, on 11/09/2009, -2/+41"If we see the container from afar, oh God! it is very beautiful and creative architecture."
- Puppytwo, on 11/09/2009, -1/+33OH GOD

- Strongo, on 11/09/2009, -1/+20the unique study was done, learned from it A lot of information about how to good construct things.
- TobiasParker, on 11/09/2009, -0/+18No timelapse video...lame.
- ThecNiqueMan, on 11/09/2009, -0/+17Who's the Queen?!
- dvsbastard, on 11/09/2009, -2/+18I miss Sim Ant... :(
- JHB207, on 11/09/2009, -2/+16Quite the NASA experiment. (rolls eyes) I got one of these same exact ant farms for my kid last christmas. They are pretty cool to watch though.
- eleece722, on 11/09/2009, -1/+14All my base are belong to you?
- SoCalCove, on 11/09/2009, -0/+12Hmmm would PETA have an issue if I have a 50 gallon tank with a tight dividing board/plane in the middle seperating it into 2 sections...and raise 2 seperate ant colonies...
Then after months of a coldwar standoff I remove the plank or make an opening to let each side have access to each other and let them battle each other? COOOL.
I can see a person getting a lawsuit "YOU KILLED ANTS! HOW CRUEL" but damn wouldnt that be so cool two raise 2 armies and fight each other...bwahahahaha (poor evil genius laugh) - VinceIP, on 11/09/2009, -2/+14NASA? What the ***** does this have to do with space?
- GTRagnarok, on 11/09/2009, -1/+11Such amazing to watch the ants work.
- gdo01, on 11/09/2009, -0/+10No you're not!
- DiscoLando, on 11/09/2009, -0/+10I'm the Queen!
- terminal157, on 11/09/2009, -0/+9Exactly. Even if the text was informative and, you know, literate, I'd be confused as to why this is being dugg. As it is, I'm very suspicious.
- thekajunpimp, on 11/09/2009, -2/+10ironically this is very similar to walmarts expansion program....
- Dotcommer, on 11/09/2009, -0/+7one thing I DID learn from this.... ants have three eyes. And the writer can be suddenly moved by creative architectural beauty.
- RScan70, on 11/09/2009, -0/+7http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GtRNBHM3DR0&NR= ...
close? - danherbert, on 11/09/2009, -0/+7Now we'll never know if ants can sort tiny screws in space!
- paradigm1220, on 11/09/2009, -1/+8...IN SPACE!
- awesomelin, on 11/09/2009, -1/+8http://rorr.im/digg.com/general_sciences/how_ants_ ...

- D0P3M4N, on 11/09/2009, -2/+7This is pretty awful. Good job, Digg.
- GeyserShitdick, on 11/09/2009, -0/+5Let’s take an example of their diligence and creativity and apply in our day life.
- Skootles, on 11/09/2009, -0/+4http://img410.imageshack.us/img410/9281/picture10w ...
- Snoogs, on 11/09/2009, -0/+4Coming up next, can ants sort tiny screws in space?
- LuckyScofield, on 11/09/2009, -0/+4ok that was funny
- therumster, on 11/09/2009, -0/+4Plus, they are also seen to work closely together to achieve their goal of making their nests for comfortable.
- slothboyck, on 11/09/2009, -0/+4I do, too... It's immediately what I thought of when I saw these pics.
Those giant spiders still haunt my dreams, though. - Super6, on 11/09/2009, -0/+3I propose that humans are superior in that we have but 1 stomach and have deduced a method of cooking bacon to fill said stomach.
- fuzzlog2, on 11/09/2009, -0/+3Nature provides a lot of ideas for humans to survive in harsh environments. Ant communities are actually extremely clever, they have their own hierarchy, laws, techniques and so on. In this case, they can help understand how to survive on another planet and build a complex structure using on-hand material, provided we have the required equipment to do so.
- Skewler, on 11/09/2009, -0/+3Yeaah we should model definitely our lives after these ants in transparent ant farms.
- xelloss, on 11/09/2009, -1/+4Giant Space Ants!
- fastfood15, on 11/09/2009, -1/+4How would their nest building change in zero gravity?
- Garciat, on 11/09/2009, -0/+3ANTS
- AeroZeppelin, on 11/09/2009, -2/+5HAIL ANTS!
- Heiliger, on 11/09/2009, -1/+4Here's the original source with higher-quality photos of the NASA experiment:
http://www.thisblogrules.com/2009/11/ant-works-spe ...
...and by "NASA," I mean "hobby shop." - schmidt349, on 11/09/2009, -0/+3Thanks, ants.
Thants. - burythelurker, on 11/09/2009, -0/+2ironically?
