First of all, international maritime law basically forbids weapons on board civilian ships. The second problem is that when shipping crews start to arm themselves, the pirates will just turn to bloodier tactics.
I'm sure a lot of people here think they're such hot ***** that they could handle combat against Somali pirates, but the reality is that the crew of these ships have no interest in dying for their companies.
