- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8They said on the news that they're going to exhume his remains and spank his pelvic bones into dust pretty much. Serves him right too, Master splinter didn't raise no fool.
- oyourmom, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8actually he invented many creations that power technology and science!
- mc1123, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7Today thats called "ADHD."
Back then, it was called "no job." - DEFSMAC, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5da vinci was really light years ahead of his time when you consider the ideas he drew up, not to mention a fellow lefty. if i had a time machine he would be one of the first people i visited.
- Junpei, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6Da Vinci is one of my personal heros for being so brilliant in everything he did. My favorite painting by him is "The Last Supper." There's so much hidden meaning behind that painting, it just blows your mind. Ever notice the dagger sticking out in the bunch of men on the left side? The hand that's holding it belongs to no one. Excellent stuff, Happy Birthday Da Vinci!
- wayjer, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7This guy invented Tech!
- Sundroid, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Happy birthday, dude!
Leonardo da Vinci was a great artist/engineer/architect/inventor/futurist, not just a plot device in a popular novel. 500 years ago, he envisioned futuristic (back then) concepts such as helicopter, tank, and solar power.
Here is my video tribute to the master:

- starmanjones, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4you're the man leo...
- jamsea, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Sweet same birthday as mine :D
- Zaster, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4It's one of history's great tragedies that this polymathic genius had to squander much of his time and talent toiling away in the service of feudal tyrants. The lame system he was born into could not possibly do his talents justice.
Also (seeing as how he was one of the greatest painters who ever lived), it would have been nice if he'd actually finished a painting once in a while. But I guess his mind was just too active to fixate on any one project for very long. - Pignanelli, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3In a high-school class, we had to a presentation about the person we most admired (this was 1978 or so, in southern West Virginia), and most people wrote about their father or a favorite teacher. When I stood up to do my talk---about Leonardo Da Vinci, of course---I was not prepared for the outburst of laughter that accompanied my announcement, I have to say! To this day, I can't imagine what they were expecting... :)
Memorable, to be sure, but the really funny thing is, after all these years, my feelings haven't changed. I have aspired to be Da Vinci-like my entire life, and I have been handsomely rewarded!
Buon Compleanno! Ciao, bello! - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Us lefties have to stick together...
+Digg - fortezza, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Man, it took all of this time for us to crack his code, write a book about it, and finally a movie. If you are really interested in what the ancients contributed to modern day science, watch the 7-episode BBC series "What that Ancients Did For Us". It's nifty.
- wayjer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2What are you trying to say???
- rm999, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2reported as old news ;)

http://alltravelflorence.com/ - alexsimon, on 03/31/2009, -0/+1What a great period had Florence back then. From architecture (http://www.brunelleschisdome.com) to paintings, to scientists, to David's statue, it was a miracle.
- plugitin, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Wow. Leonardo was born on Rubber Eraser Day! (http://www.holidayinsights.com/other/rubbereraserday.htm)
Happy Birthday and happy rubber eraser day! - wayjer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Happy B-day to you, you live in a zoo!

- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1k .. nobody said it yet .. happy eastern.
- andycjw, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0same as mine too, happy birthday to us
- verstohlen, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Happy Birthday. By the way, I recently learned "da Vinci" is not his last name but means "from Vinci" in Italian because he was from the Italian town of Vinci. Scholars say he should never be referred to as "da Vinci" as he didn't really have a last name, but should be called Leonardo or Leonardo da Vinci. Interesting.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+3after reading the Da Vinci Code, i have the greatest respect for him...
science men rock :P - mastercheif, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2Where is the Google Doodle?

But lets not forget that horse statue he never finished! - ByteGuerilla, on 10/12/2007, -7/+1And I imagine you'd be travelling lightyears in that time machine? :P
- JamesWilson, on 10/12/2007, -8/+2tech related and science related. bonus points!
