http://www.stanthecaddy.com/the-friars-club.html - zelphi, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Every time I hear "Hack [non computer related term]" I get the urge to hack the poster's face in with an axe.
Just say'n. - dbpigeon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I can't see him being able to keep it up for more than a year. I think he'll probably make 2-3 months.
- Slipdisc, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0I get the urge to hack the poster's face with an axe when they pad their own diggs
- digg for this lamer - theb0tw, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0i know people that have done this for years now..
- blhack, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0what does hacking have to do with computers?
- nate263, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I think the digg effect might be in effect cause the site is down
- blhack, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0hey TK_KING ***** off....this is EXTEMELY cool...you are modifying the way that your body works you idiot...you will achieve REM much much more quickly.
- FunkyGuy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1hacking sleep....wow thats low.
- burke, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"Every time I hear "Hack [non computer related term]" I get the urge to hack the poster's face in with an axe."
Temper, temper. Maybe you should be the recipient...
Note that while 'hack' usually refers to computer programming, this is by no means a necessity. "Hacking sleep" is a perfectly valid use of the word.
Next time, I would carefully consider my flame if I were you.
"Just say'n" - NickABusey, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Hey everybody, hope you like it. If you don't, then go to bed :-P
- cyberscape2, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I would say something mean to TK_King, except his icon has candy corn, and candy corn is the mana of heaven.
And that, kids, is why Moses had it goooood. - fuRy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1shut up it is not hacking.
quit using the word hack, it has no meaning left. - Rodalli, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Stop using the word hack for mundane day-to-day activities. It's an article about changing your sleeping patterns. Nothing to do with hacking.
I, and many others, refuse to digg articles that unnecessarily use the word "hack" in order to catch the eye and farm diggs. - mcspectrum, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I applaud Nick's effort. Research into sleep is extremely important, and we have far too few people publishing their results and studying it. As far as I'm concerned, the more time I can spend awake, the better.
And to you people who are complaining about this being "stupid" and "unoriginal" (and the two morons crying over the informal usage of the word "hack"): Just think of how many more digg stories you could spam and flame with those 3 extra hours! Get to bed, kiddies. - NickABusey, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Should someone repost the link then, without the hack-a-day stuff?
- Corrosionx, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Hacking life is cool, it's an idea whose time has come.
I'd like to see more system-hacks, social-hacks and even reality-hacks myself. - weirdal, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0frankly, I'm getting sick of every hackaday entry ending up on digg
sure, its a great blog. I've read it every day for quite a while now, but I dont need to see it on digg too. - Chaos12, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Fury, shut the ***** up, hack originally used to mean to do/use something without its original intended use.
- Shish, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0> hack originally used to mean to do/use something without
> its original intended use.
This thread makes me cry ;_;
"Hack" originally meant to cut through something physically, normally used to imply force over accuracy, eg "he hacked the tree with his axe"
If you're going to complain about people not using the right meaning, at least get it right yourself~ Or we could give up on this, accept that the English language is a mess and always has been, and get on with life... - Fieri, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Submit an article on digg when somebody achieves UberSleep, not when they're trying. Billions of people are trying new things...
- mixpix405, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1First, weirdal, if like you said, "every story on hack-a-day ends up on blog, then why dont you just cut out a step and get everything from Digg? I see this as a positive, not something to whine about like you have.
Second, to fieri, what kind of story would "Hey, look, I have achieved Uber sleep!" be? I think this is a MUCH more interesting story as the person is blogging his progress.
I tried this a while back. I got about 2 months into it and gave up. Its so damn hard. But on the weeks where I was doing good, it was the best thing I have ever attempted. - erkokite, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Well he better be careful. No matter how he tries, he won't break free, and the worms will eat into his brain.
- blackpanther989, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I find that my rigorous drinking and early working schedule makes this possible. i just dont get hte 30 min naps during the day. but i have to nap when i get home.
7-330 work
5-7 sleep
8-9 gym
10-2 drinking
3-6 sleep - Sixcolors, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0If I tried to alter my sleeping patterns, I'd probably end up hacking someone to pieces. Hacking sounds like a decent term for this, since you're mutilating your regular sleep cycle. I'll stick to sleeping when I feel like it. I hate schedules.
- Han5010, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0...brain-eating worms...
Ah, Pink Floyd. - NickABusey, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0We now have forums on the site, so feel free to drop by and discuss a few things.
- mm242099, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0all this bickering make my head a splode
- TheSavant, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Hacking started with phones. It had nothing to do with computers.
