- GTAcrimelord, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3It's kind of sad, but this article makes me think of all the potential cures we've already burned to the ground mainly by "slash and burn" farming done in the South American Rain Forests. Hell, we've probably already eliminated numerous cures for various types of cancer, STDs, and other deadly viruses/diseases. Three cheers for irony!!!

Green Tea, and garlic cured my mom of cervical cancer. She'd be dead right now if it wasn't for that.
Regardless, they're not going to say that this really works, because if they say that you can just go out and buy green tea, the drug companies'll lose alot of money, like they did when they released the cure for polio. - debtman7, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2It's nice to have a reminder every now and then that all the naturopathic/eastern treatments aren't all just bunk. I'm not saying they are all legit, but every now and then something that most people would dismiss without thought turns out to have something more to it. Luckily some scientists are willing to study these things and find out. I personally have found that L-Theanine (amino acid found in green tea) is an excellent anti-anxiety treatment and my wife has had great luck with 5-HTP for seasonal affective disorder. It's always good to keep an open mind.

Chemotherapy is poision too, they're trying to kill the weaker malignant cells without killing all of the rest of your cells (or at least the necessary ones).

Well not really weaker cells, but more rapidly reproducing cells. Some chemotherapy works by killing cells in a certain cycle of reproduction. Those reproducing faster will be more likely to die. That is why people loose their hair and intestinal cells, they are rapidly reproducing. - Marcelo, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1"But the Mayo researchers decided to try green tea after a test tube study in 2004 showed it killed leukaemia cells."
@duke... did YOU read the article or just the title? Stop with your disgruntled comments and move on if you have nothing better to say. - amazonthunder, on 08/29/2008, -0/+0acai is a much better solution for battling leukemia. Please go here to read more: http://www.amazonthunder.com/cancer.html
amazing results. You can also see an article here http://www.theamazonacaiberry.com/cancer.html - nerdjesus1, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1I digg this. Just because it's green tea, and that stuff kicks ass.
- nebrfan, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0More than that - many agents used against tumors target the cells DNA replication machinery - tumor cells are dividing uncontrollably and therefore are more susceptible
- nebrfan, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Wow - 3 out of 4 patients. Well designed, insightful study.
- treelovinhippie, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Oo, quick kevin rose... become a mascot for green tea and advertise that it can cure cancer!
:D - tastypastry, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0I recently started drinking green tea as a coffee alternative. I didn't like the stains coffee left on my teeth.
- Marcelo, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1But what's interesting is that the patients improved after the green tea...
I do agree more research needs to be done on this before one can say for sure the benefits of green tea extract on CLL. - AttroPheed, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Wait til the newage crowd starts the cash in on this one.
- goldenratiophi, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Aaaagh, I can't give up Earl Grey! Ah well, I guess a blend of Earl Grey and Green Tea will do the trick...
- Eyot, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0I love green tea. Especially when you go to chinese restraunts and they give you a plate of tiny little mugs filled with green tea.. And you drink from them... Okay.
EXCEPT this is really old news from like 10 years ago. - tastypastry, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0I'll have to try that white tea Skell. Thanks for the suggestion.
- diggismycollege, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0i drink 2 battles of Arizona ice tea a day baby!!!!!
- Lynxpro, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0
I bet KRose is doing the Meposian "Dance of Joy" right now on this news...has he dugg the story yet? :)
Coffee still works wonders on colon cancer. Perhaps they should do a synth blend and get the benefits of both into one drink. Sounds like a job for the Juice Man. And I don't mean O.J. either. - goldenratiophi, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0"is tea the new coffee? what do you recon?...."
No. Or at least, if it is, the 25 new coffee places that just opened in my town will soon die. - rlgunnells, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Anyone who thinks the pharmaceutical companies will lose out if a natural product produces a cure is mistaken. Natural products (healthy diets) work over time, a lot of time. The world is in too much of a hurry to wait so someone will have to condense it for them, guess who? Search engine tea and read up on it's history, I think you will be surprised at what you read. All tea's have the same chemicals in them so enjoy your Earl Grey.
- goldenratiophi, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Wait, tea is also good for your heart, isn't it?
- cell-gfx, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0lol shut up lol. hw mny tmz kn u cmnt on sm dg? r0x0r, tw@.
- oroson, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Wow this would be great. I hope its true. They will have to finish there testing before I believe it though. I'd drink green tea even if it was bad for you so good news.
- fect900, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Green tea is the best i think good thing i like it
- dailyclerk, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0This is an interesting read. As for all of you green tea haters, there are some awesome flavored green teas.
there's a 26% discount code from paper street teas. the code is 'teanas'
www.psteas.com - CompUComp, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0This is good news to hear. However, cancer is a tough crap inside lots of bodies and we are not sure that a single green tea or dozens of green tea will damage lots of those nasty cells. It is predicted that every man/women in their lives would at least get some type of cancer.
- dark_ryan, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Excellent. This is a great thing to help keep people healthier and wait. It's not a drug, but maybe the FDA will classify it as a over the counter drug. This will get them loads of money and they will be happy. And also it definelty is good for your heart. I truly will recommend this to people who want to live a long healthy life, and besides I think this will be awesome.
- oldcyborg, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Green Tea EXTRACT? Wowser!! Thats got to be nastier than my Valerian!!!! Whew///
Cyborg
yeah - Sumyunguy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0I used to work for the MD that helped create Rituxan. He will get a kick out of this.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Green tea has tannins, which destroy bone as well as cancer cells. Ever seen eighty year old japanese women hunched over? It's because of drinking green tea like it's water. So be modest, in this, as well as everything else.
- rhettnyedotorg, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0green tea is taste good. in my country there is http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-578191503766767918&q=transport+problem

- DrDigg, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0When its gone through a placebo controlled trial let me know.

Drink white tea. It has all the same benefits as green tea, less staining and extra benefits, especially for the teeth! I've started drinking it recently over green tea and I'll never turn back! - chriskzoo, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0...and is likely completely unviabe as a drug. There are literally 1000's of chemicals out there that kill cancer cells in vitro - they also happen to kill normal cells - that's the rub.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1Great tea will also stop wars and evil terrorists.
- Jack9, on 10/12/2007, -4/+0Lame.
