- bromac, on 10/10/2007, -2/+41That we're all just Human?
If more people realized this, the world would be a much, much better place. - inactive, on 10/10/2007, -3/+36eh, his name still coulda been Adam....

- yikiad, on 10/10/2007, -1/+24so god says to adam, "give me you right leg, right arm, right testicle, and right eye, and i will create a woman for you"
adam thinks about it for a long time, then finally asks, "so......what would i get for a rib?" - moogle516, on 10/10/2007, -4/+25Technically it be the sons of Noah and his Sons, remeber the great flood killed everyone off...
- Tyorant, on 10/10/2007, -2/+22And thus Avenged Sevenfold were born.
- iashraf, on 10/10/2007, -1/+19...or Mtumba, or maybe even Ngenge
- emjaymj, on 10/10/2007, -3/+18The fact that man's common ancestor lived in Africa is news to you?
- urcabraz, on 10/10/2007, -5/+20Though I'm making no claim here for the bible, this story would be consistent with the biblical account.
According to the bible, all current humans descend from a common male-only-lineage ancestor, Adam ... but we also all descend from a more recent common male-only-lineage ancestor, NOAH. Noah had three sons, each of whom were married to women not of Noah's lineage. These three women might have had very different female-lineage-only ancestors, eventually merging back in time at Eve, if not at some woman descended from Eve.
So, if Noah lived 50,000 years ago, and Eve (or some woman removed a few generations from her) 150,000 years ago ... that would agree with the story here.
Also, given the diminished gene pool after the flood at Noah's time, life spans would have lowered drastically through genetic degradation shortly after Noah's generation, as is also seen in the biblical account. - bromac, on 10/10/2007, -2/+16Limited resources should be the nature of conflict. Not skin pigments and ignorance.
- bradbelan, on 10/10/2007, -4/+18so everyone living in the world today is of african descent then, eh? that throws a nice twist into the world politics of today doesn't it!
- nunchuks, on 10/10/2007, -1/+14you don't have time to worry about names when your planet doesn't even exist for at least another 53000 years.
- Hetman, on 10/10/2007, -9/+22Thats cool. Just do not educate your kids with it.
- romistrub, on 10/10/2007, -3/+15or !xobile :D
- tehbored, on 10/10/2007, -5/+17You take your advice from an ancient document which preaches violence and lies instead?
- FreakyD, on 10/10/2007, -1/+13In Iran
- LucidDr34m3r, on 10/10/2007, -3/+13It actually has a fair amount of accurate historical references (as well as a lot of inaccurate ones). Is there ANYTHING accurate in there? Sure. Jesus was a real person. Much of the history of Israel is accurate. Fiery bushes is another story, however.
- skyshock1, on 10/10/2007, -0/+10Sweet! Does this mean I can apply for NAACP scholarships and affirmative action programs now?
- VigilanteP, on 10/10/2007, -1/+11I trained my boa constrictor to use the toilet so you clearly don't know what you're talking about.
- alex7575, on 10/10/2007, -2/+11she's your great^10 grandmother... sicko... :)
- ogremidget, on 10/10/2007, -1/+9and removed himself from the gene pool.
- init100, on 10/10/2007, -5/+13So historical texts cannot be fiction?
- Cockslap, on 10/10/2007, -2/+10Eve.... I would hit it.
- romistrub, on 10/10/2007, -1/+9That's a friggen wicked conclusion. Also, I wonder why all black-skinned people are called "African American"... seems a little strange to me...
- lordbeef, on 10/10/2007, -8/+16Before Adam you could no more domesticate a child than a boa constrictor
- Q3Man, on 10/10/2007, -1/+9"But it suggests that our most recent paternal ancestor would have been about 84,000 years younger than our maternal one."
Wow... cougars FTW - Ramble, on 10/10/2007, -6/+14Not going to argue with you. I certainly wish I could live in blissful ignorance too.
- gmprunner, on 10/10/2007, -3/+10Is it really necessary to slip in anti-biblical comments on every comment page?
- romistrub, on 10/10/2007, -1/+8Seriously... What has the past ever done for us? ***** the past!
- vertinox, on 10/10/2007, -2/+9Do you take advice from Rabbis or people who do not know how to read ancient Hebrew? I'm just saying because ancient Hebrews have no vowels which makes some of the bible stories slightly different depending on which Rabbi you ask or translation you use.
- marmanukem, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6I dunno, HISTORY OF OUR ***** SPECIES?
Anyone who gives a damn about the truth of the origin of our species should be excited about a discovery such as this. - init100, on 10/10/2007, -4/+10Ballmer? He certainly shares some traits with monkeys.
- LLLSecretChimp, on 10/10/2007, -3/+9Try again. I think the evidence is that apes and man had a common ancestor.
- iamafatguy, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6I wish I could remember the reference, but for now this will have to stay anecdotal.
I saw a documentary last year that purported to find the actual "Eden". The area was, of course, in the middle east. The interesting thing was, and I can't remember the actual name of the indigenous people that had lived there, but it was something like "earth people" or "clay people", something like that, but their burial rites were interesting - they had the custom of painting the bones of thier dead with the oxidized dirt/clay that was found in the area - it was a red colored clay.
Now then, iirc, Adam means (according to my jewish ex-wife) "Of the Earth".
The bible says that god made Adam from Clay (again, iirc.)
Not exactly pertinent to the discussion, but there you have it. - physphd, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6Thermodynamics suggests no such thing. Further, spontaneous pair production and annihilation are well-known phenomena. Vacuum fluctuations FTW! (I can't believe i just wrote that)
- Vodka2389, on 10/10/2007, -25/+30Is there anything in the bible that's actually true?
- barius, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5Thanks, now that you've gone to the incredible effort of pointing out that I hit the wrong button for me long after I tried to correct it by adding @pitofdoom you can rest easy in your sarcastic little ***** hole.
Further, my comment is hard to understand, maybe you should try thinking with the logical part of your brain instead of the sarcastic part. I know it must be hard since you've obviously honed that one side so much with all your useless ranting on Digg, but really, give it a try once in a while. - barius, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5No, it's not really that clear. The Bible *implies* there were people before Adam & Eve, but nowhere does it say that there was any specific person or people. The first implication comes when Cain leaves home and founds a new city -with his wife-. Where did the wife come from? The Bible doesn't say, that's why it's *implied* that there were other people. However, the Bible is not very specific about times either, we could surmise that Cain married a later daughter of Adam & Eve (his younger sister) since there is no clear indication that he was married before leaving home. In any case, the Bible could hardly be called 'clear' on the subject.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -2/+7I was being sarcastic, I was quoting "The Atheist Delusion" video. I thought diggers would know better.
- yikiad, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4you mean dream twig...
- LucidDr34m3r, on 10/10/2007, -4/+8Adam and Eve supposedly had lots of children aside from Cain and Abel (or so I was told in my Baptist upbringing). Also, according to the Bible, back then people lived for hundreds of years, plenty of time to get some new villages around the area. I mean, I don't believe it, I'm just saying from a Biblical perspective, what you are stating still isn't necessarily true. Look for more sound arguments against creationists please. I'm agnostic, but it's important to be educated.
"Know the enemy", I always say. - Pake, on 10/10/2007, -2/+6His name was probably Golden Palace Casino.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4"You are in: Sci/Tech

Omg! BBC's Tardis is true! - FearlessFreep, on 10/10/2007, -10/+14what does that have to do with anything. The names "Adam" and "Eve" have cultural connotation to express the idea of the first man and woman as a bit of idiomatic shorthand. It's an interesting article; don't spoil it with your pet rant
- init100, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4The only thing I ever said was "This food would be good enough for Jehova". BLASPHEMY! HE SAID IT AGAIN! :)
- Raptaur, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4...and God gave unto Noah a tape measure, rule and square and the cuts were good
- kaplanfx, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Wow, this dude must have been boning down a lot...
