- lizzie24601, on 12/01/2008, -2/+63Never trust a bird in a tux.
- chadsmith729, on 12/01/2008, -3/+43You know, I never saw this on March of the Penguins. Was that in a deleted scene that I missed?
- reyoo30309, on 12/02/2008, -3/+38This is actually quite interesting. On a number of levels even. I mean the birds actually understood they could not reproduce with one another for one thing. And for another they were so genetically hardwired to be gay that overwrote their biological urges to reproduce with a member of the opposite sex. Of course assuming its genetic and not some type of psychosis.
- megamod, on 12/01/2008, -3/+38screw banning gay adoption...ban gay child theft!
- Someguy101, on 02/19/2009, -7/+33Wait a second... I thought being gay was a choice? I'd like to hear the explanation for this behavior from those who think this.
- Frozo, on 12/02/2008, -0/+22I hate it when the gays steal my babies.
- tagwort, on 12/02/2008, -2/+22Homosexuality is unnatural. These penguins were obviously molested.
- sparkey182, on 12/02/2008, -0/+20That is the craziest title ive ever seen, i read it four times and still had no idea what to expect.
- NiGHTSChao, on 12/02/2008, -4/+23OH NOES, this must be some sort of evidence that homosexual humans will prey on kids as well. QUICK HIDE IN THE BUNKER WITH YOUR JESUS STATUE
- Falldog, on 12/01/2008, -5/+24Baby Theft Shock 2 features better graphics in addition to gay penguins. A definite improvement over the first Baby Theft Shock.
- B3000, on 12/02/2008, -0/+15Um, the penguins are choosing to be gay. Duh.
- sulthernao, on 12/02/2008, -0/+14Well male homosexuality could be passed down through the mother. There have been studies showing a correlation in homosexuality between maternal uncles and sons. The mother could carry the gene and pass it down to sons. Another hypothesis is that it is affected by the gestational hormones - you're more likely to be homosexual the more older brothers you had (mother's hormones fighting the baby's testosterone and getting better at it). Most likely it's a combination of reasons.
- hangman16, on 12/02/2008, -0/+13The same reason two people with brown eyes can have a child with blue eyes. Genes can be carried and not expressed. If two people are carriers for a recessive gene (i.e. gene isn't being expressed in said individuals) they can still pass it on and it may be expressed if their offspring receives the recessive gene from both parents. You don't know much about genetics do you? I mean...this is stuff I learned 6 years ago in highschool biology.
- inactive, on 12/02/2008, -0/+13at first i thought your title meant that a gay chinese couple adopted a penguin because they couldn't have children.
- deadapostle, on 12/02/2008, -4/+15These penguins were slated to be loaned to the City Zoo in Mobile, Alabama but now they're afraid that if they go their adopted baby penguins will be taken away by the state and the result will escalate to another war with Japan.
- Seann7656, on 12/02/2008, -0/+10Who said you have to stop liking them when you grow up! And who cares if some are gay. Penguins rock. They are tiny and cute, and waddle, and the they slide on thier bellys. I think I'm going to make an 'Lolpenguin' website one day
- Medicamusic, on 12/02/2008, -0/+10Are you a penguin?
- Gr1nch, on 12/02/2008, -0/+10blatantly, that's why they're stealing other penguin's children to molest.
- Medicamusic, on 12/02/2008, -4/+13The other penguins ostracized them? Those foul creatures.
- TwiiLight, on 12/02/2008, -4/+13THOSE PENGUINS ARE GOING TO HELL
- IllBeBack, on 12/02/2008, -1/+10Just smile and wave, boys... Smile and wave.
- ACiDGRiM, on 12/02/2008, -0/+9A Zookeeper in China told an Australian new paper, who had this article posted on the RussiaToday
- inactive, on 12/02/2008, -3/+12That's no more valid than saying we're "hardwired" to think blacks are less than citizens or humans. Perhaps bigotry is not a choice, right?
- archer104, on 12/02/2008, -1/+10As long as the penguins can't get married then I don't give a *****.
- haikuFU, on 12/02/2008, -5/+13Do gay penguins have dirty gay penguin sex?
- Gr1nch, on 12/02/2008, -0/+8I have a hard time believing there are straight flamingos in this world. I've never imagined Flamingo's reproducing, its inconceivable to me.
- apetrie, on 12/02/2008, -0/+8Prove to me that "more common" doesn't just actually mean "more socially acceptable and out in the open".
- theandyj, on 12/02/2008, -0/+8Well everybody knows that the bird is the word!
- Velnich, on 12/02/2008, -0/+7Unfortunately Baby Theft Shock is an owned trademark and with the team originally behind it moved on, it's unlikely we'll see any direct sequels in the near future.
What some will consider Baby Theft Shock 2's spiritual successor, can however be found on the horizon as "FosterShock". - smotpoker, on 12/02/2008, -0/+7@burnttoast
"but when the "homosexual" gene first mutated into existence,"
When people say it's "genetic" I don't think they mean there is a *****-gene most of the time. They mean the combination between parents' genes created a new genetic structure (as it always does) with certain atypical sequences which, often in conjunction with mother's specific genes/physiology, can affect people's in utero development and impact certain physiological traits (including brain structure and hormones) as the embryo/person/animal develops.
With humans, psychological influences can play a big role in how/whether genes which might result in homosexual tendencies more than in the animal kingdom (such as trying to convince themselves or others that they aren't gay passes specific attributes on more often) or make them seem more common (due to prejudice, people who come out often do so indignantly and once they come out, they are often ostracized to a degree, hang out with other gay people and don't blend in as well as an homosexual animal would) - samoan27, on 12/01/2008, -3/+9Penguins are religious bigots... that or the majority of Diggers have been wrong about Prop 8.
- diemunkiesdie, on 12/02/2008, -0/+5It could simply be a common mutation that keeps reoccurring. If the mutation-selection balance is the right amount, then the gene will persist in the population. Also, there could be numerous genes that dictate sexual choice, not just one. The question would be, does having one gay child increase the likelihood that your blood relatives are also gay? That's what needs to be researched.
Also, people with bad genes or a disease don't just die out. For example, malaria has not disappeared (it's prevalent in Africa). Also, there could be a certain level of correlated response to the selection for something else. For example, the gene that causes homosexuality is linked to another gene for (hypothetically) high levels of estrogen. The higher levels of estrogen could provide some fitness advantage, but when the levels are too high and you have received the recessive gene that causes homosexuality, you become gay.
I don't know what the actual cause is, but there a myriad of plausible explanations. I wouldn't discount the biological answer until there is more proof that it isn't biological. - ACiDGRiM, on 12/02/2008, -0/+5You never know these days...
- Matri, on 12/02/2008, -0/+5I mean, just look at all that PINK!
- apetrie, on 12/02/2008, -1/+6You are reading into it what you want, imo. The other penguins began to ostracize them after they repeatedly tried to steal babies, not for being with each other. Perhaps bigotry is hardwired, but this is not proof of it at all.
- cochonnerie, on 12/02/2008, -4/+9Frozo, I doubt the straight penguins are distancing themselves from the gay penguins because the gay penguins are gay. The more logical conclusion is that the straight penguins are distancing themselves from the gay penguins because the gay penguins are stealing their children. I don't think penguins really care if other penguins are gay or not.
- defectDS, on 12/02/2008, -1/+5I'm not defending the trendy topic. I'm defending myself.
You're defending that bigotry is just as natural as the homosexuality, so it should be accepted just as equally. So that's it guys. Wrap it up. Put the picket signs down and go home. Give them back their children. Go return that wedding ring. Let Prop 8 continue to pass, but don't get mad at it's supporters. It's just natural; they can't help it.
Unlike this one defenseless penguin couple against it's entire group, human homosexuals populate a growing population of the world. Not growing because people are "choosing" more and more to be gay, but because more and more people are becoming comfortable coming out because the world is starting to accept them as we fight in our pursuit of happiness.
Somehow, I don't think "oh dude, that ***** just kissed another *****, those sick *****," is the same as "squawk, those two penguins are trying to steal our babies, shunnnnnnn, squawk!"
Sure, both animals and humans reject the different ones similarly, but there are too many differences between animals and humans to make a valid logical argument.
I believe from years of analyzing myself that homosexuality is hardwired in me. I'm just gonna have to ask that you take my word for it because I can't take out my brain and show you why. But I just don't understand how you can think bigotry can be hardwired in the same way as well. Bigotry isn't a sexual preference. Bigotry can be eradicated. If it couldn't, blacks would still be using separate drinking fountains. - JNudda, on 12/02/2008, -0/+4In Planet Earth they explain how much competition there is among penguins for babies, i.e. baby-less adult penguins going for orphans.
- aduzik, on 12/02/2008, -0/+4On the "nature v. nurture" question, my response has always been, "who gives a flip?" Being "born that way" or acquiring a particular sexual orientation during childhood says nothing about morality of any particular sexual orientation. The truth is that being gay doesn't hurt anyone, so why not live and let live?
- ACiDGRiM, on 12/02/2008, -0/+4Lol you schmucks, look at your address bar.
- Seann7656, on 12/02/2008, -3/+7Those penguins hate God
- diceau, on 12/02/2008, -2/+5Yeah don't get too sarcastic, there are cases of exactly that happening.
Society and people have a long way to go before they can be deemed psychologically healthy. - pw378, on 12/02/2008, -0/+3The are probably very odd, wimpy, or genetically inferior penguins and no girl penguins will have them, so they convince themselves they are gay instead of just admitting the truth to themselves.
- alexiadeath, on 12/02/2008, -1/+4May it be noted that same behavior is present in females unable to reproduce. In fact, among humans, i think that is more common occurrence.
- BrianD2, on 12/02/2008, -2/+5You mean this isn't an article for The Onion?
- t4m5t3r, on 12/02/2008, -0/+3Winner of the Most retarded story ever CREATED!!
wow, i think its gonna be a few days before i stop laughing at this, if you wrote it? you should be a comedian, or in a mental institution, i never knew anything this retardadly stupid even existed, dam you internet for proving me wrong again!! - FLarsen, on 12/02/2008, -0/+3He looks like he could use some antidepressants.
- inactive, on 12/02/2008, -3/+6I like the description. I was thinking "Where is this, man? People just trying to take children for their own." Then I read that they live in the zoo They are penguins. Then I remembered what the headline said. DUMB. *slaps forehead*
- Greanbeens, on 12/02/2008, -0/+3Actually, it's 55% not 20%.
