So you see, the studies were worthwhile. Remember, less than a hundred years ago, it was OBVIOUS that men were far more intelligent than women. At one point in time, it was obvious that the world was flat. And hell, everyone knows God created the world in 7 days (etc.)
Duhhh.
Commonly held views are important to test because they reveal and correct sources of bias. Other studies on relationships could be affected if a researcher didn't correct for a known possible bias in the arrangement of the study.
At any rate, I don't think I agree with their interpretation. The picture thing suggests that a woman looking for men over an internet dating service would choose the 'funnier' one. Good looking people, that's who. Fuglies who make people laugh are still fugly. To say "funny people are attractive" is simply not true. A girl who is interested in a guy because he tells jokes still knows whether or not he's ugly and fat.

I think funny people are attractive because they can communicate somthing that is true...one hardly laughs at something obvious or false.
