Extra Second Will be Added to 2005

wfmynews2.com — An extra second will be added to 2005 to make up for the slowing down of the Earth's rotation. I wonder if it will affect the operating systems calendars eventually

    Also, seconds are fairly routinely added to a year, and it's never called that much of a problem as far as computers go before.

    Yah. If the US changes daylight savings time, how will it effect the rest of North America like Canada. I think the US just wants time zones all to them selves.

  • SybotCB, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0DST won't have that big an effect either. Most devices and your OS has a capability of disabling DST changes automatically anyway for those living in Indiana, Arizona, and Hawaii. So you have to manually change your VCR clock instead of it doing so itself. Big deal.

    What will be a problem, is the US changing how long day light savings time goes on...
