- Dimensio, on 05/02/2008, -3/+9I find it curious that the editorial does not address rebuttals to claims made by interview subjects. For example, while Richard von Sternberg claims, in the movie, that he was terminated because of his publication of a paper that advocated "Intelligent Design", reports from his former workplace show that he had announced his planned resignation prior to the publication of that paper, and that he resigned, voluntarily, as scheduled. Additionally, while von Sternberg claims that he was ordered to "turn in" his keys to private areas of the Smithsonian university that were cruical for his work, he does not mention that everyone who had such keys was asked to relinquish them, and they were only asked to do so because the lock system had been changed, nor does he mention that he was given an ID badge coded for the new locks such that he could continue to access the areas that he, apparently falsely, claims were closed off to him. Why has no one attempted to dispute this rebuttal? As it stands, it would appear that von Sternberg has not been entirely honest regarding his claims.
- lydecker, on 05/02/2008, -1/+7This article isn't about the validity of Intelligent Design. Do you know what expelled is about? It's not about how accurate intelligent design is. It's supposed to be about an anti-dissenting environment surrounding evolutionary theory.
So sure, an intelligent designer could have created it, or he could not have. We don't have any evidence to say, as you said, that only an intelligent designer could have created it. But that's not what the article or Dimensio was talking about. - ApokalypseNow, on 05/02/2008, -2/+7What objective, empirical evidence is there that specifically points to design? Waving your hand at the universe and saying "That!" does not constitute evidence. We have seen nothing in the universe that points to a supernatural explanation, nor have supernatural explanations ever solved anything for science before.

I did not "dream up" the rebuttal. I was referencing a specific rebuttal presented at http://www.expelledexposed.com/
" Like most evolutionist you don't attempt to refute Intelligent Design, you just try to claim that some of the people interviewed lied. "
I was not attempting to address flaws in the conjecture termed "Intelligent Design". I was referring to the specific claims of the movie that the linked editorial addresses. Addressing flaws with Intelligent Design itself would not have been topical, as the movie Expelled does not attempt to make the argument that Intelligent Design is a viable explanation. Rather, the movie attempts to demonstrate that proponents of "Intelligent Design" have been fired from their jobs for their advocacy, and my response was directly related to that claim of the movie.
It would appear that you are attempting to change the subject.
"Wake up from your dream world and look at the facts, the universe we live in speaks loud and clear. Only an intelligent designer could have created it."
In addition to be completely off-topic, your statement is an unsubstantiated assertion and not a demonstration of reality. - chaosium, on 05/02/2008, -1/+4"That must be some pretty powerful stuff to allow you to dream up your rebuttal"
It's both powerful evidence for evolutionary biology, but you don't need "powerful evidence" to portray Creationism for the contentless religious-emotional plea that it is.
Besides the false dichotomy between "RELIGION" and "SCIENCE", considering that there are many evolutionary biologists who believe in God and believe that God did create the world through evolutionary processes. - TYRONEBR549, on 05/02/2008, -3/+2Keep on blasting it and people will keep on going to see what all the fuss is about. Keep up the good work.
- frbushby, on 05/02/2008, -5/+2What are you smoking? That must be some pretty powerful stuff to allow you to dream up your rebuttal. Like most evolutionist you don't attempt to refute Intelligent Design, you just try to claim that some of the people interviewed lied. Wake up from your dream world and look at the facts, the universe we live in speaks loud and clear. Only an intelligent designer could have created it.
