Takes the magic out of the whole thing. Killing infants is very character building. - hollyminkowski, on 05/16/2008, -0/+4This may herald new breakthroughs in controlling metastasis.
If metastasis could be prevented then many cancers could be successfully treated at the initial site without spreading the cancer to other parts of the body. Once a cancer spreads to something like the lymph system or liver you are in real trouble. - twofiveone, on 05/16/2008, -0/+2A 3 to 5 day old blastocyst consisting of 150 cells is considered an "infant" now?
To give you an idea of scale, the brain of a fly contains about 100 000 cells. If you think the interests of the cells trump the interest of cancer/parkinsons/ patients etc, then you have a seriously warped moral compass. - Botanicus, on 05/16/2008, -1/+3Recent developments in medicine suggest that adult skin cells can act in a similar way as the once coveted embrionic stem cells. This means that we would be able to continue this advancement of Biotechnology without killing our infants (or rewarding their murder).
