- tarun, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Related interview http://wnyc.org/shows/lopate/episodes/09272005. MP3 stream of the show will be up in a couple of hrs.
- Sixcolors, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"whaambulance" Ha! That kills me. *dies*
- lfrank, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0These people ramble on trying to sound smarter than they really are. Ask
them a purely common since question and I bet they say DUH. - icu_, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Wow! You think you have a unique digg and you miss it by 2 hrs. Somebody call the whaambulance. Heard about it on NPR and was instantly intrigued. For those that don't know NOVA is a fantastic show - many episodes are available for viewing online (I highly recommend The Elegant Universe shows wherein string theory is discussed etc. - http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/nova/elegant/program.html)
- icu_, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Sorry for double post (any chance of an edit button Kevin n' crew?)
Didn't want people to miss out on that link due to my stupidity.
Removed the ) - http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/nova/elegant/program.html - pickupjojo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Must we be ugly to be physicist ? ^^
- TheGooseyOne, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0blhack: it doesn't bind everything together...that's M theory that does that
- sketchstudios, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0that last dude in the picture at the bottom of the page, Frank Wilczek, looks exactly like lemminy snicket.
- blhack, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Michio Kaku is the best physicist ever (you know, besides that other guy). :)
no. What has kaku ever done that is groudbreaking aside from appearing on techtv (which is no doubt where you heard of him) and writing a book for non-physicists? Granted, he is a smart guy, and as a laymens guide to physics his books are good, but he is not "the best physicist ever".
E=mc^2 is important because it states that EVERYTHING in our universe is made of one single thing....energy. For those of you that don't RTFA, it means: Energy = matter * the speed of light^2. this equation is very very imporant when you start working with destruction of matter, and the binding energy. Do you ever want to teleport anything anywhere? Well e=mc^2 is going to be VEEERRRRRRYYYYYYYY important when you do so.
It is also so famous because it is so elegant. It is simple, it can be written on a t-shirt, everybody and their mom knows it (even though some of them might not know what it means), yet IT is the equation that binds EVERYTHING together. If you think that einstein was not one of THE GREATS then you have your head up your arse. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0engineering = sqrt(math)*sqrt(computers) = sqrt(math*computers)

Michio Kaku is the best physicist ever (you know, besides that other guy). :) - JWood, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"Michio Kaku is the best physicist ever."
I totally agree with you on that. He's the man!!! - rookieone, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0:S my brain...overload...overload...ahh!!! lol
- ubiquityxx, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Beautiful find.
- wushumasterku, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0engineering = math * computers ^ 2
- macdude, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Actually, The Force binds everything together! :)
Seriously, Brian Greene is the only one of these physicists that I have read extensively. I highly recommend his book, "The Elegant Universe". As was mentioned, the Nova series with the same title was excellent. My 12 yr. old and my 8 yr. old love that series. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0exactly, some people just aren't aware of how dumb they are.
- icu_, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0To be fair I doubt this person found this 'story' on /. - it was just featured on NPR today so that's where you get the link directly to the actual subject and not a paragraph of quoted text from the actual site in question. So the digg here is not the /. 'article' but rather the actual site and show to air on 10/11/05.
Now to be really fair, even if it didn't come up during submission a quick search would have revealed that this is 'old' (which is what I would have done prior to submitting). All I'm saying is that if an 'article' adds nothing to the subject a direct link is preferable . . . imo.
Wow stfu me. Also, no reason to comment 'Dupe' - there is a drop down menu which allows one to report it as such (and perhaps result in its removal) Ok now I'm done. Yeesh call the Care Police eh? - threepete88, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0E=mc2 pwned me. Twice. And I loved it.
- dlafonta, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Science should always be like that.
- thicke, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0You can get these as a podcast though iTunes too.
- jagnum1fan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Haha, that's not suprising... And, yet ANOTHER reason to completely love Google. They are aparently one of the biggest supporters of PBS, and, therefore, NOVA, and therefore, our entertainment. Google is always thinking about us... I love you Google (and PBS...).
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Michio Kaku lick balls.
- dstart, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Dupe
- blhack, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0string theory can blow me.
stop watching 'wtf do we know' - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0PBS = science for joe blows.

This was dugg a while ago. This is a perfect example of why it is important to link right to the story and not to link to a link. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -5/+4+digg
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -6/+5I agree. Never seen this story before. Get it on the blog mate.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -7/+5Another albertpacino non-dupe. He's the best by far.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -5/+3+digg
- 7of7, on 10/12/2007, -3/+0E=mc^2=over rated theory. Why do people want to worship Einstein?
