- unholy1, on 10/12/2007, -0/+19Hmm there's a joke in here somewhere.... something about sleeping while waiting for Duke Nukem Forever, maybe? :P
But yeah, I always found that a good night of sleep before an important exam had a very positive effect on my performance on the day.
+1 to the scientists for confirming suspicions - cnt2infinity, on 10/12/2007, -0/+18Nothing better than Duke Nukem to run sleep studies.
- rooke, on 10/12/2007, -0/+15Does Duke Nukem affect the part of the brain with procrastination? Or the part that gets satisfaction from completing things?
- inturnaround, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8Studies of glaciers have found them to be moving faster than the development of Duke Nukem Whenever.
- bailey3003, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7that 2ND picture half way down the page looks like they did a little more than sleep when they were in the MRI...
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5George bush is about as intelligent as a monkey on crack.
- ArmandoM, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Mouse + Keyboard was the only way I ever played.
- abandonnship, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4What makes this study stupid, the part where they study something we still don't completely understand or the part where they shed new light on sleep's affect on brain function and memory?
- republicoftexas, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Because Duke Nukem Freaking rocks! Seriously, I absolutely love this series.
Did anyone ever get the mouse to work properly with duke nukem 3D or was it just not designed to use a mouse with? - Dom02, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2it doesn't really matter what they use. It was just a simple way to test how people remember directions. They probably just used Duke Nukem 'cause it was easy to create the simulation and it gets peoples attention, like ours.
- DrakeGTA, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2maybe this was part of the same study... http://www.digg.com/science/Sex_in_the_MRI_machine..._(SFW)
- Ralphy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2yeah but this article mensions Duke Nukem which makes it dupeable.
- SoulMaster2, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Why would you use Duke Nukem to test something like this?
- CaughtThinking, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1The DNF "development team" is a covert spy operation, I've already shared this.
- MrBabyMan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Duke Nukem?!! Geez, how OLD are these studies?! I hope the data didn't take as long to compile as the games been around for.
- Nostril585129, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2No Digg... exactly the same study as this article:
http://www.digg.com/science/Good_night_s_sleep_boosts_long-term_memory_ - cualexander, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Does this article say which version? Are they talking about the old school Duke Nukem 1 or Duke Nukem 3D? I assume 3D but you never know... I did play the good old original the other day. Fun stuff
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2I know i'm just another to say this..but why Duke Nukem?
- mushie, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0what the study is attempting to support is neuroanatomical evidence for the differing locations of episodic and semantic vs. procedural memory recall. i guess they used duke nukem because it contains maps. map navigation would allow for people to consolidate information from working memory to long term memory (long-term potentiation) and associate it with meaning (in the game). procedural memory is accessed when conscious access is not required. this distinction has been made several decades ago however, neuro-imaging methods are recent and provide further support for localization in the brain.
-mushie out - kohan69, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1ROFL!! good point!
- thewebguy, on 10/12/2007, -6/+1what's with the spam
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -9/+4Studies also show that Duke Nukem is smarter than George W. Bush.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -11/+2I gave you a negative on that because I am your stereotypical Republican...so yeah...long live Bush
(God I'm going to get battered for this, but that shows you how immature some on Digg are lol) - snoopgst1, on 10/12/2007, -13/+0Whats up with all the stupid studies?
