- Dawsy380, on 04/05/2009, -0/+18I remember learning in Physics that there are actually always two rainbows due to the way the light is refracted. The second rainbow is just usually too faint to see. Also, the colors of the second rainbow are in reverse order as the first.

- Azhnul, on 04/05/2009, -0/+4It's a secondary bow. It's caused by two internal reflections of the light inside the raindrop, instead of one. Two internal reflections obviously means less transmission efficiency (some passes through instead of being reflected) so the secondary bow is much fainter. You really need the right conditions (a LOT of sunlight in the right direction) to see it.
It comes out at 51 degrees (I believe?) instead of the normal 42 degrees from the anti-solar point....you'll also notice the colors are reversed (again due to the second internal reflection). - montgo, on 04/05/2009, -0/+3Awesome pics...it felt like the Apocalypse was on us...
