- hiplobonoxa, on 01/07/2009, -7/+2i don't think this should be much of a surprise, since many early ceratopsians have already been found in asia. finding a later ceratopsian in asia is like finding a modern asian person in africa. of course, we're talking about millions of years and speciation in the case of the dinosaurs and tens of thousands of years and subspeciation in the case of the humans. what is interesting, is that the western us and asia were about as far apart as two places can get on the cretaceous map. under those circumstances, one would expect to find later ceratopsians littered every place in between -- which as far as i know isn't the case. it seems like this this is most likely a case of convergent/nearly parallel evolution from a geologically recent common ancestor. i'm excited to learn more!
