- retral, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9My guess is that it's an image server for blogger.com; and you can't access the main directory.
- stevester, on 10/12/2007, -0/+71.2k million?
- phunnel, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7they don't like big words like billion
- retral, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7The site only references links TO the ranked sites; not the hits that the ranked sites actually get.
- TheMadMonk, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Ditto. Quit patting yourself on the back, digg. You're looking really smug lately.
- daigakuinsei, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8... and yet another story on digg about how great digg is makes it to the main page
- jesusphreak, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Its the "me too" mentality.
As in "look, the thing that I'm a part of really is the best!" I don't know if it is a self-esteem issue or what, but it certainly exists, especially online. - SpectreBlofeld, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8I'm really tired of seeing at least one front page digg every day just talking about how awesome Digg is and how it made some sort of obscure news article or 'top ten' list. I come here to read interesting articles about science/culture/technology - not to read about Digg itself. I'm seeing more and more of this lately instead of good content.
- norbiu, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6http://photos1.blogger.com/ number 3?? That site doesn't even exist! What is this crap?
- DEFSMAC, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6how the frack is google only 6 and myspace 31 with slashdot not even making the list?
- Misunderstood, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Isn't photos1 where photos are stored on blogger, not a blog, or something similar to that anyway? I don't use blogger so I would't know, but I thought I remembered hearing something about that.
edit:ah didnt see your post retral. - tuna1, on 10/12/2007, -3/+7I STILL don't understand the big hype over flickr.
- Lionhart, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4I was wondering that myself..
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Nobody links to stories on Slashdot; they just visit the site and read it there.
- diggnationdevon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3This is definitely inaccurate. I don't want to bash digg.com because its my favorite website but MySpace certainly is much more referenced.
- trancient, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3That's actually surprising for digg. I still think it's a niche site even with the podcast popularity.
I'll tell you the hype about flickr: http://www.flickr.com/photos/46899306@N00 - p9s50W5k4GUD2c6, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2URLFan - interesting methodology of measuring an internet pulse.
- shovel10, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I seriously don't want to know anything more About HOW GREAT DIGG IS.
just add great links, propaganda is something we really don't need at this point.
otherwise I am going to spew and joint some other very very boring site
post, look back later.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! - drakethegreat, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1To me this seems to suggest that RSS feeds don't represent mainstream usage of web traffic in any way. Just by the number of photo sites it tells me that its skewed in their favor because apparently pictures and photos use a lot of RSS, more then news and content related sites. So being number on in the RSS world just means you are a big website that takes part in photography and pictures rather then news and information.
- LoganKriete, on 10/12/2007, -0/+13/4 of all studies are inaccurate according to a new study...
RSS feeds are no measure as to how often a site is "referenced". Sometimes people just want to subscribe in order to stay in touch with the latest news. Imagine if everyone on the internet (or at least the majority) subscribed to CAD's RSS feed - does that now make them the most referenced site on the internet? And, if so, what are they referencing? It's a comic site! The point is that RSS feeds are not reliable measures and shouldn't really be used as such. - retral, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3I'd have expected it to be a little higher, but still cool (dugg)
- DoTheFandango, on 10/12/2007, -0/+11.2k million?
- anorris, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Right on, you two.
Proof:

Check image sources. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Hey look, its more digg digging.
- lavawalker, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2http://www.michellemalkin.com/ made it on the list? Who?
- WorldGroove, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Is it Kevin's fault that hambo posted a story about Digg? Anyone here have an idea how digg-coders could prevent this? ....'cuz I sure don't. I'm not even talking about if it's right or wrong. Is it even possible?
--------------------------- - jbenson2, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1This listing is totally bogus. Photos1.blogger.com ranked higher than Google.com!!!
And in the top 10: IMDB.com and YPN-RSS.overture.com.
I don't think so. - thelivingrobot, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Um, why is this digg in the "Science" category?
- hambo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0i think it's mentioned elsewhere on this thread, but the ranking is based on who's linking to what, in real time, generally google doesn't need a link-to in blogs. it also looks like they aren't ranking sites like ypn-rss.overture.com anymore because it's an ad site. according to the 'how it works' the site is tracking concrete data, not approximating traffic or the such.
- hambo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0if you look up 'slashdot.com' and 'digg.com' on this site, you can see a funny trend. when people are mentioning slashdot, it's in reference to how it compares to digg. but if you look up digg.com, it's generally just talking about a specific story of some sort.
- hambo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0She has the dutch cartoons hosted on her site, i think that's why she's making news.
- acidreflex, on 10/12/2007, -0/+018th most referenced site. I agree, the most "self-referenced" site.
- lostboy, on 10/12/2007, -3/+3are you into photography. flickr is exciting not simply because its a good community for photographers but because of their work with the tagging system which allows for brilliant categorization of images. I'm not going to say that they were the first to do this, but they are one of the best examples of this.
Obviously flickr isn't just aimed at the photographic community, but it has encouraged a healthy atmosphere and community that is thriving. In the city I live in - a small uk city called bristol - there is even a flickr exhibition for the bristol flickr group at the moment. I guess it all boils down to the fact that the internet is an excellent medium to share images on, and flickr has taken advantage of this with an extremely slick interface and well thought out experience. - ebmnoize, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0ditto my pal
- brandizzle, on 10/12/2007, -5/+2Well someone has to say it...
Apple.com is higher than Microsoft.com - dime, on 10/12/2007, -5/+2It's like those girls that tell you how pretty they are in an attempt to make you forget they have saggy cans and a wart on their nose. The truly attractive ones just be.
Digg, don't be an ugly girl.
And lol at that analogy. - dwordle, on 10/12/2007, -4/+0Did you see that google mentioned digg?
http://www.google.com/romance/press.html - deadlift, on 10/12/2007, -5/+0I'd PIITB
