- TheManBrian07, on 09/05/2008, -0/+23they should flush the toilets with recycled pee.... ballin'!
- inactive, on 09/05/2008, -1/+19fantastic! vodka-redbulls, cocaine, and a meter to push you to your limits! sounds like a super-safe little enterprise..
- AmyVernon, on 09/05/2008, -2/+20it's all fun and games until someone collapses on the dance floor. lol
- QuakerOatSquare, on 09/05/2008, -0/+17dial 1-900-mix-a-lot...
you think that ***** is toll-free? - Raiper, on 09/05/2008, -1/+14FOOLS...are you blind?! Human energy is just what the machines want. Has no one seen the matrix?
- rossjp, on 09/05/2008, -0/+12energy is transferred. not "produced".
- jgatz, on 09/05/2008, -0/+12we took a look at this problem in my thermo class
the problem is that the energy produced by people tends to be of low quality
the heat produced isnt very hot and the weight causing vibrations isnt exceptionally significant
this makes it hard to efficently extract energy - Spudster, on 09/05/2008, -0/+8baby got back!
- nytel, on 09/05/2008, -1/+9I just read about this in Newsweek just the other day. Very rad idea but whats the costs to fix the titles? The way I dance... *****...
- Junior612, on 09/05/2008, -0/+8I bet they're handing out E at the door.
- BoneStamp, on 09/05/2008, -0/+7Are you suggesting it would be better to not produce any of its own power and use coal (or some other fuel) to produce ALL the energy required?
- BoneStamp, on 09/05/2008, -0/+5Dugg for "pee experience".
- bman85, on 09/05/2008, -1/+6It's really more for decoration and novelty than actually energy production. Plus, its free energy, WTF is the problem?
- QuakerOatSquare, on 09/05/2008, -0/+4*plays electric slide
- inactive, on 09/05/2008, -0/+3I don't get people who are so hostile to free energy.
It's like it either has to replace the sun and all other sources or it's *****. And somehow, Al Gore's agenda as something to do with it. - noahgelman, on 09/05/2008, -1/+4I love how energy saving is affecting so many places that you'd think wouldn't care
i.e- Gyms, Nightclubs, etc.
This is definitely a step in the right direction - inactive, on 09/05/2008, -0/+3I'm sorry, what about your titties?
- crowanation87, on 09/05/2008, -0/+3Guess everyone is doing the electric slide whether they like it or not.
- pault107, on 09/05/2008, -0/+3I read that as titties, you actually wrote titles, but I guess you meant tiles. My head hurts.
- bobbi21, on 09/05/2008, -1/+4Well he's suggesting that the power you produce from this probably isn't even enough to make for the power lost in making the equipment that powers this club.
It'd be nice if he showed a link though since the article says it save 30% on the energy costs, which should be much more than the lighting. Can't be sure what the other energy saving stuff they have in the club though.
Although he is probably inaccurate, he brings up the point that we need efficient energy saving products. It's like Paul mccartney having a hybrid but having it flown by private jet from japan. Have to take in these other factors too.
I'll probably get dugg down for putting what he said in any positive light of course. Sigh. - inactive, on 09/05/2008, -0/+3LA face with the Oakland booty...
- Otto, on 09/05/2008, -0/+3The gym where they're generating energy by replacing the cycle resistance with electric generators and such is a much better idea:
http://thegreenmicrogym.com/
If you think about it, you could not only generate quite a bit of power from the stationary bikes, but you could also make the resistance variable, so that the riders could select what level of resistance they want from the bike and generate more or less power that way.
You could also get power from the weight training equipment with some creative design. - BoneStamp, on 09/05/2008, -1/+3They should have a fitness club where the resistance in each machine comes from turning generators/alternators to produce power for the club. Basically, the equipment manufacturers should start making generator equipment.
- inactive, on 09/05/2008, -2/+4chris brown style - ONE TWO THREE FOUR! (and dance forever)
- inactive, on 09/05/2008, -0/+2I know, the title makes it sound like they're generating electricity or something...
- noahgelman, on 09/05/2008, -0/+2They're not extracting energy. They're using less. And if I ahd to choose between building a building that uses a normal amount of energy or building a building that uses significantly less, then I would choose the latter.
- maceelk, on 09/05/2008, -0/+2yes, but with advances in tech things are becoming easier to energy mine. At the beginning of the year an inventor got a grant for producing a wind turbine(actually just a stretched band) that collects energy from wind at 3mph.
Micro harvesting will hopefully turn into some real benefits as the technology matures. - BoneStamp, on 09/05/2008, -0/+2Great! Do you have a URL?
- KingGorilla, on 09/05/2008, -0/+1or ocean water
- Kenzan, on 09/05/2008, -0/+1That'll be fun for about 5 minutes.
- dafragsta, on 09/05/2008, -0/+1My anaconda don't want none unless you've got buns hon.
- RadiatedAnt, on 09/05/2008, -0/+1So let me guess an infrared camera tracks body heat from the dance floor onto a program that interprets these zones and ramps up the crazy lights? Good idea
- yoda17, on 09/05/2008, -1/+2You do realize that the amount of useful energy that you can extract is dwarfed by the amount of energy used in the construction of said energy scavaging devices don't you?
- andyb747, on 09/05/2008, -1/+2Brilliant
- TheUngod, on 09/05/2008, -1/+2This is a dutch club, they're probably clog dancing anyway
- yaddayaddayoda, on 09/05/2008, -1/+2$50,000 worth of electrical equipment to generate 4 cents worth of electricity per night... makes perfectly good sense.
- FeloniusMonkey, on 09/05/2008, -0/+1This is even higher tech than those "fan meters" during hockey games that simultaneously measure the cheer levels for boys against girls. That never ceases to amaze me.
- theodorex, on 09/05/2008, -0/+1Rofl.
- billbugger, on 09/05/2008, -0/+1B.O. will keeps the girls away from you.
- BrainDance, on 09/05/2008, -0/+1You do realize its a damn novelty at a dance club?
They aren't installing this system to replace the hoover dam. - binaryloop, on 09/05/2008, -0/+1Time for some Gabber Trance! (180 BPM)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gabber - leerayIG88, on 09/05/2008, -0/+1I heard in some study women do like the scent of Man Odor.
- Laminarcissus, on 09/05/2008, -0/+1Plus, clubs that gimmicky tend to only be started by idiots, open for three weeks, and lose a million dollars.
- gdha, on 09/05/2008, -0/+1I think this is a great idea for green wise.
- jgatz, on 09/05/2008, -0/+1ummmm
last time i checked gimmicky /trendy clubs were phard to predict
but if they managed to be cool
they made a lot of money
probably a smart idea - 3leggedHorse, on 09/05/2008, -0/+1I would not wanna take a piss in there when there is a drought.
- Meowbiusfox, on 09/05/2008, -0/+1Finally!A use for the Orange hordes.
