http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8mAdrSvOgwI - DRT23, on 07/06/2009, -4/+19In other news, the number of green M&Ms in a bag do not predict the next gas price increase.
- InSearchOfTruth, on 07/06/2009, -0/+15We must prepare for the coming of Gozer.
- AmnesiacJack, on 07/06/2009, -3/+16That's what they want you to think so you don't hide in the caves and survive!
- getoffmybridge, on 07/06/2009, -0/+11Oh Zuulie, you nut!
- Jikul, on 07/06/2009, -4/+12I've made crop circles in my 30ft x 30ft grass field so my cat can predict where the bugs are.
- Smokeydabear, on 07/06/2009, -0/+8Why do crop circles only appear in cultivated farmers' fields? I mean there are huge expanses of natural grain and grasslands that the circles could be made in if it were from Alien spaceships. I suppose it would be because they draw more attention in a farmer's field.
- jhandfield, on 07/06/2009, -2/+10If I were an alien, I'd be pretty pissed off after traveling thousands of light years to deliver us a message and we just ignore it.
You can't help those who don't want to be helped, I suppose. - jsmith39, on 07/06/2009, -0/+7aliens secretly hate farmers because of their freedoms
- protogenxl, on 07/06/2009, -0/+7All Right, Who got the farmer's animals high?
- dododohead, on 07/06/2009, -0/+6are you hinting something, reptilian?
- dododohead, on 07/06/2009, -0/+5Also, something about filming a crop circle being made:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lOlwyXkick4 - Rudegar, on 07/06/2009, -0/+5my cave is members only my good man!
- nick041, on 07/06/2009, -0/+5What? This ***** doesn't even make sense. Who ever said crop circles predict solar storms? I like to consider myself a UFO buff & this is news to me. I've read & seen plenty of crop circle stories. This is just....dumb as *****.
- jsmith39, on 07/06/2009, -0/+4stupid green M&M's
- 4321234, on 07/06/2009, -1/+5I meant to digg up your comment, but clicked reply by mistake. So just ignore this, I guess.
- vostek, on 07/07/2009, -0/+4The author of this article should at least research the scientifically unexplainable phenomena regarding the crop circles and entertain the possibility until after July 7th. I've been keeping up with this story for almost 2 months as there have been a number of formations going back into May that were encoded with this message. I will hold my judgments until after the fact.
- i4ybrid, on 07/06/2009, -1/+5Wait, when did we start taking crop circles seriously? Did I miss something?
BTW, the digg effect claims another one. - chriscalifornia, on 07/06/2009, -3/+7No one created crop circles, they evolved over millions of years...
- punaninja, on 07/06/2009, -0/+4That really is a great documentary, i love the part with the patterns of nature.
- giveer, on 07/06/2009, -1/+4If we traveled thousands of light years to another solar system and we left a message by leaving a footprint in their dirt, I would say we deserve to be ignored.
- UselessTrivia, on 07/06/2009, -0/+3I always wanted to make one of these.
I've wondered, though, don't these things ruin the crops? Can they still be harvested? Some of these things are huge and could be a major crop loss for the farmer. - inactive, on 07/06/2009, -0/+3Simply it is either viral marketing for the DVD release of "Knowing" which is coincidentally about a solar storm that zaps the Earth.
Or some sort of "Aliens or higher intelligence" are just trying to tell us about our own solar system. It's not like solar flares or CMEs are not possible, and even the most dire, as far as what science has been able to observe, don't melt people or boil entire oceans.
There is science behind identifying genuine vs man-made circles... and I have seen nothing that indicates these alleged predictive designs are of unknown origins. Some designs took 3 days to form and genuine ones appear in one night and are too ridiculously precise and large for a team of humans to complete in a night.
Just as a precaution I will wrap my electronics in tinfoil to protect them from the cosmic rays. - RolyatLeahcim, on 07/07/2009, -0/+3So the person who must have made the crop circle predicted the solar storm?
- mt4055, on 07/06/2009, -0/+3OK
- Zandt88, on 07/06/2009, -1/+4Two sides of the coin: Explain to people just how many solar systems are in our galaxy, and then show them the deep field image that Hubble took (the one showing hundreds if not thousands of galaxies) and ask them the odds of our little planet being the only one with intelligent life, or even the one with the most advanced life, and they realize how infinitesimally small the chances of that are.
Suggest that another intelligent species has come to Earth (liberally throw in words like spaceship, flying saucer, aliens, and others that invoke the idea of "crazy") and they think the person is just nuts.
The real stupidity in this article is the authors outright rejection, regardless of suggestive evidence to the contrary, that crop circles were made by anyone or thing other than humans. Its like walking into a quantum physics lab and saying "OK lets figure this out, but be sure we all understand that there is no consideration of gravitons because they cannot be real." - sjbdallas, on 07/06/2009, -1/+3Math isn't the universal language, crop circles are.
- srslyguyzwtf, on 07/06/2009, -0/+2Crop circles are advertisements on the show TV "Earth".
- johnnick, on 07/06/2009, -0/+2Because having the article now will make it easier to reference/copy/paste the next time someone creates this type of drivel.
- JT114881, on 07/07/2009, -0/+2If you hit reply you don't have to type anything...
- jamdogg, on 07/06/2009, -2/+4The "people" making giant pictograms not only have "time on their hands" (usually 1 night). They also have phenomenal stealth skills. No one has ever been caught half way through the alien alphabet, leaving the design unfinished.
- DiggasWAttitude, on 07/06/2009, -0/+2Why even write this article when day after tomorrow this crazy idea will be dis-proven by nothing having actually had happen?
Unless they misread the crop circles and it is actually set to occur two days before the day after tomorrow. Oh my God... - inactive, on 07/06/2009, -0/+2HOWEVER this lady on Coast to coast, is convinced otherwise, that there IS something going on here and set for the upcoming penumbral eclipse, on 7/7. A RED MOON is creepy, no?
What now?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tnWzYB_oplQ - xixphz, on 07/07/2009, -0/+2Its 3:33 CST on 7-7-09 still nothing...

- jamdogg, on 07/06/2009, -0/+2It wasn't an argument that it's aliens.

- 1ofMany, on 07/06/2009, -2/+2Crop circles are the modern equivalent of cave drawings.
- Frostek, on 07/06/2009, -2/+1That's still not much of an argument that it's aliens.
- torrange, on 07/06/2009, -2/+0Good points - I have seen the show(s) that show people creating crop circles. They have also shown very basic circles in "wild" uncultivated areas around the world.
I think that the artists may be imitating something that is unexplained. It is only since these hoaxers have been discovered that crop circles have become so intricate. I would have to say the formation in the article is definately man-made, look at how it lines up with the tractor paths and it took 3 nights to complete.
I hope there is some mystery to the crop circles, they were a lot more fun before people claimed them.
